Well said, mate.

Not well said. As long as debates are civil, any subject should be open for discussion. I don’t tell anyone else what they should or should not write about, and I expect the same courtesy.

Neither did I. In fact, I specifically said feel free to dissect and rant. My point was to occasionally give some thought to taking a break from trying to beat the franchise and the fans who may not agree with you.

…It has been suggested by Jason, that too many negative posts allways warrent moderator action. I obviously feel this is not in the best interests of an open forum with a free flow of ideas, but also feel this is a bit disingenuous, considering the mostly negative threads on the prequels and special edition changes on this forum.

Actually, what I posted was… (and the full post can be found here - http://originaltrilogy.com/post/id/1156598)

An issue for anyone trying to read through this thread most likely - whether they agree or disagree - whatever their stance. Most topics on the site with seemingly endless repeated and circular negative content will eventually result in a mod trying address the issue therein.

Let’s not put words into the mouths of others, nor take them out of the context in which they were used. Ok.

The problem with this reasoning is, that:

 1. As far as I can tell only those that disagree with the criticisms have expressed their frustration with what they apparently percieve to be endless repeated and circular negative content.

 2. The endless repeated and circular negative content valuation is entirely subjective IMO.

 3. The endless repeated and circular negative content is IMO inaccurate, as these debates involve two sides of the equation, which by extension must imply there’s endless repeated and circular positive content also.

 4. I’m not the only poster who has expressed frustration with this in my view one sided approach. Several very eloquent posters have indicated they too feel the same way. These opinions are apparently ignored, in favour of the complaints by those posters with positive opinions of the film.

 5. Most if not all toxic discussions are based on one side disrespecting the other with statements like “I can’t understand how anyone can like this movie”, “RJ has destroyed Star Wars”, or “First they complain about a lack of originality, and now it’s too original”. So, it’s not really about the positivity or negativity of the opinions towards the film, that are expressed, but how they are expressed.

 6. Your post fails to address the apparent bias towards percieved endless repeated and circular negative content as opposed to percieved endless repeated and circular positive content. Aside from the lack of support in the forum rules, why is only negative content singled out? The forum rules restrict themselves to bad behaviour, and logically don’t put any restrictions on content, unless inflamatory or profane.

No, the problem is that you are sidestepping the issue and ignoring putting words into others mouths and taking them out of context.

All of these posts from your reaction to a moderator posting ‘By all means feel free to vent, deconstruct, debate, rage, etc. I do it occasionally myself. It’s what makes this forum work. However, maybe give some serious thought to focusing on what you like. The stuff we don’t like about the franchise isn’t going away.’ - wow.

Now, as not to derail the thread further - feel free to PM with any concerns you may have.

Back on topic…

I found this take on Canto Bight scenes, with Rose’s effect on Finn and his journey in the film - going from Finn to being mainly concerned for his friend Rey, all the way to committing to the Rebel cause - to be of interest - and had some insight on events which I hadn’t considered during the first couple of viewings…

(that’s not to say that message could have been made a little clearer and some of the scenes didn’t play too well)

DISCLAIMER: It’s Urban Dictionary. Does not necessarily represent oojason’s usage.

give your head a wobble - means ‘have a re-think’ / step back and think it through again.

soft lad - means ‘mate’. Sometimes a mate who’s having a slow thinking day (like before a morning coffee - or someone having one of those days).

I’ll try and stick to the more generic English vernacular from now on.

Anchorhead suggested ‘However, maybe give some serious thought to focusing on what you like’ - there’s nowt wrong with that - if you have a problem with that - that’s your problem.

He also said ‘By all means feel free to vent, deconstruct, debate, rage, etc.’ - so what is your problem here?

My problem is with the concept of a moderator giving advice on what people should focus on in their debates. In my opinion the focus should always be on the content, not on the people who write the content, and their motives.

That the seemingly endless repeated and circular negative content in here has become an issue

An issue for whom? For those that don’t agree with that content?

An issue for anyone trying to read through this thread most likely - whether they agree or disagree - whatever their stance. Most topics on the site with seemingly endless repeated and circular negative content will eventually result in a mod trying address the issue therein.

where a moderator has asked members to maybe also give some thought to the things they like about the film - in amongst the ‘free to vent, deconstruct, debate, rage’ - and you give him or me shit for it… says a lot - about you.

What’s that supposed to mean? Moderators can do personal attacks now? I’m advocating for a “discuss the films, and not the fans” policy. I don’t see why that would warrent such a response.

How on earth have you got ‘moderators can make personal attacks now?’ from a moderator has asking members maybe also give some thought to the things they like about the film? And you then giving us shit for it… (Don’t bother replying - it’s rhetorical).

I will stop discussing the subject, since I don’t want to keep going off subject, but this is a serious issue for me.

Probably a very good thing if you’re going to go off on one like this.

‘By all means feel free to vent, deconstruct, debate, rage, etc. I do it occasionally myself. It’s what makes this forum work. However, maybe give some serious thought to focusing on what you like. The stuff we don’t like about the franchise isn’t going away’ - what a terrible thing to suggest. Aye, a serious issue that, indeed…

I have no idea what this means (I mean I get it via context but no idea what it means from a “how it became a saying” standpoint) but I love it and I will be using it at every opportunity from now on.

I think it as an alternative (or derived) from ‘keep your nose out of other people’s business’ - though if so it has a different meaning now.

Also could be something derived from conflicts - ‘put your head down’ or ‘keep your head down’ etc - again a different meaning now though.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - Fan Edit Ideas thread...
Time

^ love those Celebration '16 crawls for Rogue One 😃

a little late for the quality Fan Edits already out there - yet thought this was worth a mention…

^ from https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/7pey0x/i_made_an_opening_crawl_for_rogue_one/

The text:-

'The World is become undone, Imperial Flags reign across the galaxy. The only known combatants to push back the menacing GALACTIC EMPIRE have heard rumors of an Imperial Super-Weapon.

In an attempt to stop this doomsday device, the brave REBEL ALLIANCE has dispatched two rebel soldiers to locate the daughter of the weapon’s creator.

Being held captive in an Imperial Prison, Jyn Erso is unaware of the intentions of the two rebels, as they race off to Wobani to recruit her and destroy this mysterious weapon.’

A little confusing to have that as a crawl if opening with Jyn as a kid in the opening flashback sequence - yet for other Fan Edit ideas… a pretty decent crawl.

❗ How to ask for a fan project on the OT•com | Do NOT make 'link request' posts ❗
Time

From the Originaltrilogy•com Fan Edit / Preservation Forum Rules and FAQ thread - in Announcements

13. I’ve read about someone else’s project and I want a copy. What should I do?

Firstly, please read the forum rules - you may only obtain a fan edit if you own the official retail release.

Do NOT start a new thread in the forum requesting something, or post a list of DVDs offered for trade. Such threads will be deleted immediately.

Reading the project thread should give you an indication of what method the creator has chosen for distribution, if indeed it is to be distributed at all. (See 7-8).

The I have found a Fan Edit / Preservation I am interested in - but don’t know how to get / acquire / download it? post should also be of some help on asking how to acquire a project on here.

Certain members have taken it upon themselves to distribute fan edits and preservation DVDs on Usenet (newsgroups) or torrent sites. You should be able to find out if the project is available for download in one of these threads. Torrent reseed or Usenet repost requests should be posted in the appropriate thread; don’t start a new thread.

If you need help with a torrent client or downloading from newsgroups, you can make a post in the technical discussion forum. Please try to keep general newsgroup or torrent questions out of project feedback threads.

If the creator had started a PIF chain and you want to get on it, post a message in the project thread.

Some members are open for trade or B&P offers on discs they have obtained. This correspondence should be carried out privately. If you send a private message to someone, please have the courtesy to make sure that “allow PMs” is turned on in your user profile - otherwise they will not be able to reply!

Originaltrilogy•com does not accept any responsibility or have any control over:

 • activities that may occur through private email correspondence of its forum members,
 • or for files/data that may be found elsewhere on the internet.

Harmy has put up a video on youtube - just to remind everyone that Fan Edits must never be bought or sold.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrwKZHv4OS0 - a 4 minute video at the Harmy Despecialized youtuhe channel.

Personally, as a member here, I’d encourage everyone to watch it and upvote that video.

How to ask for a fan project on OT•com | Do NOT make ‘link request’ posts ❗

aka… ❕ I have found a Fan Edit / Preservation I am interested in - but I don’t know how to get / acquire / download it?

Take the time to look around to see how this place works - and doesn’t - so do NOT make any ‘link request’ posts on here. 👍

Welcome to the OriginalTrilogy.com | Introduce yourself in here | Useful info within | Site Rules | Fan Project Rules

❕ ‘How Do I Do This?’ on the OriginalTrilogy.com; some info & answers + member FAQs ❕ | About | Help | Announcements

ATTENTION NEW MEMBERS: “Link begging” posts will be deleted without notice ❗ - in Announcements.

Then, read through the thread of the project you are interested in - there is usually information in there on how to acquire a project - often in the very first post. If no such information is to be found in the project thread…

then simply send a polite PM to the fan editor / preservationist asking them for links or information on how to obtain it

…and after that a little bit of patience is required. It is likely that the Fan Edit author / owner isn’t online every day - or even every week - and may have a ton of queries or other stuff to get through before dealing with and replying to your request.

If you haven’t heard anything back after some time (over a month or so…) then simply make a post in the project thread stating you’ve had no success in contacting the project creator - and politely ask if anyone else can provide you with a link - other members of the community on here may be in a position to help you. This also applies if the fan editor / preservationist is obviously no longer about this site anymore.

Additionally, it is also recommended to read through a project thread to see if any fellow members are offering project links via PMs.

⛔ Do NOT simply just post ‘a request’ for links in a project thread on here (unless asked to do so by the editor or preservationist).
Doing so just fills threads up with endless link requests… which often both deters and disrupts any ongoing discussions on the projects themselves, further ideas, much-valued feedback, and also reviews occurring in such threads, etc.

Fellow members are more likely to help you out if you are a participating member of the community here; you don’t have to be a fellow fan editor, preservationist, tech wiz, artistic or skilled etc… just a member that has made, or is making, an effort.

NOTE: Many editors & preservationists choose not to make their projects available to ‘hit & runners’ or people with a post history of mainly asking for various projects - which is completely up to them. That some people join up here looking to simply take - instead of give something back; not even leaving a simple ‘thank you’, feedback or review, or join in with the community here - and instead move on to asking for more projects… is not encouraged. Such requests may likely be ignored or deleted.

Do NOT create a new thread asking ‘for a link to’… to Harmy’s Despecialized, TN1’s 4K77/80/83, adywan’s Revisited Edits, the Hal9000 Edits, or any other project listed on this site. It is for you to take 5 minutes and go find the relevant project on here, for you to then read up on what the project is about, and then how to acquire it. Do not ask / expect others to do this simple task for you - we’ve had hundreds of such entitled requests over the years - and the patience of OT•com community members understandably wears thin. If thousands of people have managed to find, read up on, and then acquire these projects listed on here over the years… then you can too. A little patience - and a ‘read first - post after’ mantra - goes a long way on here…

FAO new members to OriginalTrilogy•com:-

New members cannot start PMs in your first 7 days here - though can view & reply to PMs you receive from other members.

Do NOT make ‘link request’ posts for fan projects in any of the threads on here. Instead, use the time to look around and see how this community forum functions, our site rules & fan project rules, read through any of the pinned ‘Index & Help’ & ‘How Do I Do This?’ threads, as well as any of the fan project threads that may be interest you - and join in the conversations on here.

Leave some feedback or reviews for projects you have previously seen. Or join in the discussions about the Original Trilogy - or the wider Galaxy Far Far Away. Or participate in the discourse here on film, tv, music, art, books & comics, gaming, tech, history, sports… or life in general etc. Read up on how some of the many fan projects on here are made / evolve / come together - or check out the talented artists’ cover artwork, and budding authors’ stories, script-writing, and re-writes.

Simply becoming an active and participating member of the community on here means a significantly better chance of others helping you out in acquiring any fan projects you may be looking for…

Joining up here and then creating a new thread along the lines ‘Give me the link to X’, ‘Where is project Y’, or going straight into a project thread and posting ‘How do I get these?’ or ‘Link, please?’ doesn’t really fly on here - and will likely be ignored or deleted.

The OriginalTrilogy•com is a community where a ‘read first - post after’ mantra benefits everyone here - especially for the ‘Fan Project’ sections. We appreciate some may be excited to see the projects featured on this site - information on how to acquire them is readily available - yet patience is also required. If you bring impatience, entitlement, aggressive or vitriolic attitudes, personal attacks, or toxicity… then expect some choice words in return - and also expect your stay on here to be a short one.

Welcome to the OriginalTrilogy•com - you’ve taken your first steps… 👍

☑️ Please leave some feedback for the fan projects on here - or even a review… and join in with the discussions on this forum!

A great deal of time, love, dedication, and effort… goes into the making of near-on all the projects that appear on here.

So if and when you do watch an Edit or Project, please remember to leave some feedback for the Editor / Preservationist etc - whether on a technical level, ideas for additional changes / edits or alternatives, some constructive criticism (keep it civil), how much you enjoyed it, or even just a simple ‘thank you’…

Reviews are also much appreciated and valued by the project creators - helping them improve for any future versions, or for any other prospective projects.

^ More info on the above can be found here: Please leave some feedback for the fan projects on here - or even a review…

☑️ General Info

Fan Edit & project authors are responsible for the availability / distribution of their releases - it may well be frustrating that you have found information on a long sought-after project on here (or elsewhere) - and yet have no way of acquiring it, though unfortunately on occasion that is the way it is…

☑️ A polite request for fan project creators

Fan editors & preservationists are asked to keep their project threads (and thread titles) updated as to their status - whether their project is in the… ‘Planning’ or ‘Idea’ stages, if any ‘Help Needed’ is required, is a ‘Work In Progress (a WIP)’, or hopefully ‘Finished’ or 'Released’ - or even unfortunately ‘Unfinished’, ‘Cancelled’ or ‘On Hiatus’ etc.

The site staff also ask that fan editors & preservationists include information in the opening post of their project thread as to how they would like members to ask about obtaining their projects; whether that is by sending them a PM, or asking for link requests in the project thread itself, or by other means. Thank you.

Some information about The 2020 re-organisation of the ‘Fan Project’ sections of the site - and more…

☑️ For anyone creating a new thread that is NOT a fan project

Please give fellow members a clear idea of what the thread is about. For example, add ‘Query’, or ‘Info’, ‘Discussion’, ‘Help: looking for…’, ‘Help Wanted’, ‘Info Wanted’, ‘Has anyone done a project on X?’, or ‘Idea: for Project X’ etc to the thread title. It annoys members to see lazily titled threads that appear to be projects on here - to open them - and only to find it is some lazy git just looking for a project, or wanting a link, or more info, or wanting someone else to make a project for them etc. Please do not make new threads for which there are project threads already in existence.

☑️ The important rule on many a Fan Project site is

Before obtaining any fan project, you must be in ownership of the official retail release’.

Another rule is do not post direct download links to Fan Edits or Preservations etc on this site (though links to a short demo or trailer is fine) - the What kind of download links can I post on this site? post contains more info & details.

Note: OriginalTrilogy•com is NOT responsible for the availability of ANY Fan Edits or Preservation projects that appear in threads on the site - that responsibility lies with the owner / author of the respective project.

christianluce69 - registering with 69 in the username when your’re not born in 1969 is very funny and no-one has done this before. Not the many, many trolls, wums and comedians on the internet, nor past members on here.

However, with your humerous username… don’t be surprised if others on here join in and the mick a little with you (not at you - with you). If Snooker posts a ‘get out’ gif try to take it in the lighthearted manner in which it was was posted - you may find it better taking it in that context - instead of trying to pull them up on it.

Otherwise the moderators on here could come to conclusion you may be a troll or wum - and your stay here will be a short one.

And that would be a shame - as this seems a decent & promising thread started by you.

Lastly, you can joke with me but if it seems like me not understanding the difference between a joke and reality is enough for people to accuse me of being a “troll” then that is pathetic! Those people shouldn’t banish someone and write them off as a troll just because they can’t come up with clever comebacks or sense when someone is joking with them.
Snooker and TV’s Frink, don’t take it personal. I didn’t know how to react. That’s all. No harm taken here. Give me a chance. I’m cool.

I suggest you read my words again - as I haven’t accused you of being a troll. I was letting you know with having newly joined here, with that username and then taking issue with members’ lighthearted replies to you… that could lead the moderators to think you may be one.

Despite seemingly pulling me up to make a ‘pathetic’ jibe - and taking my words out of context to come up with ‘people shouldn’t banish someone and write them off as a troll just because they can’t come up with clever comebacks or sense when someone is joking with them’ - which no-one is saying at all - there is no harm done.

You’re certainly being given a chance - so let’s hope you are cool.

Anyway, back on topic…

Why is there a dash between Han & Solo in the title of this thread?

Because it’s a solo movie. Not a Solo movie.

Ah. Got it. I still need a Zanex, but I got it.

I’m honestly a bit surprised they didn’t do an Ashoka movie or something more contemporary.

Who?

Because I’m new, I’m not sure if you’re serious or screwing with me, but if your point is that I mispelled her name, then yes, I mispelled her name. It has been corrected. My apologies.

I think ray may have been joking with his ‘who?’ - in that a few on here don’t follow the EU or animated series closely - so likely wouldn’t know who that character is.

I think…
