Star Wars: Shattered Prophecy

My version of the final arc of Star Wars: The Clone Wars as a movie. Yes, I know this has been done many times. You may know it as The Siege of Mandalore, as most people call it. But my edit is different, slightly different than some, a lot different than some others (I have never actually watched any others, I’m basing this statement off the change lists). Many edits try to make it into a traditional Star Wars movie, with the opening crawl, and end credits and whatnot. Well, this is not a traditional Star Wars movie, it is The Clone Wars, it’s different. I made my own style crawl (more of a scroll), with the red Clone Wars logo and red text scroll. Different than traditional but inspired by. And the title, Siege of Mandalore, the siege of Mandalore is only half the movie, so I don’t think that is appropriate. The theme of the entire movie is the end of the war, order 66, Anakin’s fall, basically Revenge of the Sith from a different point of view. So, I went with Shattered Prophecy, partially inspired by one of the episode titles (Shattered). And the prophecy of the chosen one, Anakin and his fall to the Dark Side. Any who, let’s get to the change list.

-Opens with The Clone Wars movie style Lucasfilm logo.

-Then an edited version of Ahsoka’s training lesson from Tales of the Jedi: Practice Makes Perfect.

-Into the red Clone Wars logo and crawl. The crawl is the narration from the first episode of this arc, Old Friends not Forgotten. The last paragraph is altered to reflect the following scene.

-Added the Anakin and Padme conversation from the episode “A Distant Echo”. I zoomed in and cropped out Padme’s pregnant belly. At this point, Anakin should not know that she is pregnant.

-From here, the episodes pretty much fall right in regular order for a while, other than being edited together. Until…

-At about the 1:22:42 mark I edited in some of the Battle of the Heroes animation done by Hello There Productions. If you don’t know what this is, it is Obi-Wan and Anakin’s duel, done in the clone wars style animation.

-The movie goes back and forth between this and the regular for a bit. At the end of this it is made to feel as if Ahsoka felt what happened to Anakin.

-Added a light film grain to the Battle of Heroes to help it match the other animation.

-Then, after the rise of Vader in his suit, we transition to Padme’s funeral from Tales of the Jedi: Resolve.

-Then the movie ends with Vader at the graves of the Clones.

Runtime is 1:52.

DM for link, must have a Disney+ sub to watch.

I have watched dozens of The Seige Of Mandalore edits, & this is one of the best.
Including Battle of the Heroes animation by Hello There Productions was genius!

Star Wars fan since 1977

I’d agree. This is the strongest edit I’ve seen of the final Clone Wars arc. Excellent work!

Thanks @Bored at 3AM and @sgscobie, I appreciate the kind words!

Bored at 3AM, I got more requests for this edit from your post the other day than I did on my post on Reddit, so many that I decided to make a thread here on ot.com for it.

I suspect the deluge of Clone Wars finale edits was the reason yours was lost in the pack. I know I certainly didn’t notice your edit when it was first announced. I probably saw it, rolled my eyes, muttered “another one?” and kept scrolling 😉 It’s an issue I’d imagine a lot of Hobbit edits have, too.

Well, the good thing is, now that enough time has passed, people are ready for what you cooked up.

This is such an excellent edit. Very well done. Maybe it’s just me but I felt like battle of the heroes portions are of a slightly lesser quality than everything else. It just doesn’t look as sharp. Anyone else see this?

My guess would be the lack of sharpness is the ‘film grain’ that Bailey added to better match the much higher quality animation of the Clone Wars episodes. Since the Batttle of the Heroes fan film is serving as a ‘Force Vision’ that Ahsoka’s having, it worked for me.

As I discovered with his Galaxy of Adventures RotJ work, Bailey’s very good at coming up with creative solutions to these sorts of things. Obviously, the ideal situation would be for Disney to cough up the cash for a proper version of it, but I’m not holding my breath 😉

Thanks for the feedback! The Battle of Heroes was 4k but also was downloaded from youtube, so the typical youtube compression would be a factor. Also, as Bored at 3AM mentioned, I had to add a film grain to try to match the Clone Wars grain (battle of heroes had none), so it would make sense if they did look slightly different. But, that being said, I have watched this multiple times on my 75" TV and it looks great to me. I love constructive criticism, it helps make my (and our) edits better, but on this one, I don’t really see it.

Heh yeah Disney is a joke. I totally gave up on anything Disney a few years ago. Fan projects are where the fun is. I’ll have a look at the Galaxy of Adventures stuff.

Interesting…my home theater screen is 135" so maybe that was part of it. I’ll check it out on some other screens. I’ll hang on to this edit for sure. Can’t wait to show some friends

Using the Hello There animation sounds interesting, I’d love to watch!

After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.

Could I get a copy of this? Sounds amazing.

It’s been my ambition to do TCW in a smaller number of sub-2hour movies, designed to work with RotS. Like, only 2 or 3 movies before RotS, and then 1 more movie, set during and immediately after RotS.

From your description, this project sounds like almost exactly all the ideas for that RotS adjacent/post RotS film. I had also planned on cutting in battle of heroes with ahsoka like she can see it or imagine it. And i had also planned on cutting in the Padme funeral from Tales of alongside Vader on the snow planet for the ending.

You might have just done my whole job for me for that particular project!

Would love to see this. It sounds like something I’m envisioning for TCW as well.
