Star Wars - Sequel Trilogy Fanedit ("Episode VII + VIII" Completed)

Hello everyone, first of all let me introduce myself: my name is Michele, i’m 27 years old and I’m a SW fan from Italy (so I apologize in advance for my English).
During the lockdown imposed by covid-19, inspired by the excellent work done by Ivan Ortega with “The Last Jedi” I started making my fanedit of the entire sequel trilogy (which among other things in a small part also uses some scenes from the Ivan’s work).
My idea is to tell a new story that is more coherent with the previous films and that can end the saga in a dignified way (Without having to say things that they know “already said”, therefore without giving that feeling of “reboot”: no Snoke, no Starkiller base, no Rey Palpatine, no Battle of Hoth 2.0 … etc, etc).
My edit is divided into two films: a first based on the footage of Force Awakens and The Last Jedi (which is why I decided to call “Star Wars: Episode VII - The Last Jedi”), and a second based entirely on The Rise of Skywalker.

I’m not a professional editor, I’m just a fan, but I’ve put a lot of time and dedication into this project, surely I have made several mistakes and if you want you can use my work to make a better Fanedit.

If someone used an alternate ending where Rey kills Palpatine and becomes empress and the last shot is Rey taking the throne with her eyes pale, it’ll make some fans satisfied or makes it much worse. The credits be rescored with Anakin’s Betrayal and Padme’s Funeral. I didn’t love it when villains win.

The plot of the first film is quite simple: the galaxy is at war (again). The First Order (born from the ashes of the Galactic Empire and led by Darth Kylo Ren, apprentice of a dark lord who saved himself from death thanks to certain abilities such as consider to be unnatural), is destroying the weak resistance of the New Republic thanks to a new and surprising technology that allows to track ships through hyperspace.
The Resistance is looking for a symbol of hope: Luke Skywalker, the last Jedi. The only one who could lift men’s morale and change the fate of the war … For the same reason (as well as personal revenge), Kylo is looking for Luke to kill him.
In all of this, Rey will find herself involved in something much bigger than her but for which she was predestined…
In this fan-edit you won’t see any Kylo vs Luke or Rey vs Kylo, ​​no jedi/sith fighting… I know many expect it, but that’s not what the storyline needs. This first film is necessary to take the story in the right direction before the (new) ending that will be told with my next fanedit.
In short: in this film there will be no fan service but only the intention to create an edit that is consistent with itself and with what we have seen in previous films.

I quite agree, I have decided to keep the “knights of Ren” as an allusion to the fact that it may be Luke’s other ex-padawan who have decided to follow Ben. I kept the name Darth Kylo Ren only because it would have been more difficult to edit certain dialogues.

It is the first version because I think I will remove the words “Episode VII”, this is because I am planning to do a complete fan-edit of the whole saga and I still don’t know how many episodes it will be composed of.

I like the idea of ​​creating a new fan-canon (taking inspiration in part from Legends and in part from the new canon, but still making something new and more consistent with itself).
In order here are the things I was thinking about (these are just rough ideas, if I ever start this project after finishing my edits of the sequel trilogy then I’ll open a post dedicated to this new editing project):

• Maul and Grievous are the same person.
• Dooku is present (as a jedi) already before episode II.
• Jar Jar has fewer parts, Gungans in general will be more marginal.
• In The Phantom Menace it will be less obvious that Sidious and Palpatine are the same person.
• There is no rule of two.
• Yoda is not 900 years old (this is useful to me because I am considering the idea that a sort of Episode 0 could be made using parts of “The Mandalorian” to tell the origins of Yoda and the fall of Darth Plagueis, it is just a idea for the moment).
• In Return of the Jedi I would like Deathstar II to destroy an entire system during the final battle, this would be the reason why the new republic has made so much effort to reorganize its army.
• Darth Maul is not featured in Solo’s film (perhaps Vader could be in his place).
• I like the figure of Ahsoka but I don’t like it when it’s too obvious that a character hasn’t been thought of from the beginning, her non-presence in the prequel trilogy is almost “annoying” and that’s why I think IF it will appear in my saga- edit will be in hypothetical Episode 0.

That’s all for now, if you have any other ideas let me know, I’m open to everything … If I start this project I think I’ll call it The Veil of the Force, or simply The Veil. But for now i will focus only to my sequel edit 😃

This is a first version, you are invited if you want to modify it to make it better (for example: the scene where the falcon enters the star cruiser was taken from Episode IV and therefore presents the falcon with the old antenna, that scene should be modified to make the antenna square as shown in the other scenes).

Let me know what it looks like and if it is worthwhile in your opinion to finish editing the second part (Episode VIII) to conclude this fanedit.

If some people like this edit then I will seriously consider doing a fan-edit of the entire saga (to give a greater sense of unity between the episodes and to create a story that works from start to finish).
