The Force Unleashed Duology - A Spence Edit

I've had some questions regarding this in my ROTJ thread so I figured I'd put up some info on it.

This will be my next edit after ROTJ is done. Then I'm going to do TPM and redo my prequels.

The idea is not to just put together a DVD of the cutscenes, but actually cut the game to feel like an animated movie. Make it a true fanedit that feels like something you could watch in a movie theater. I am using the HD sources of the games, cropping them to 2:35:1, and using the boss battles (with the quicktime events) as action scenes. The button prompts will be cropped out, so it's just badass fight scenes. Very cinematic.

I will not be combining the storylines. It will be two short animated films on one disc. TFU I will probably run about an hour, and TFU II about 40 minutes. I'm also going to be doing a bit more extensive cutting of TFU II, as I think it kinda sucks. Maybe use some of the CGI trailers to beef it up a little.

The problem that I have right now is that I don't have HD capture capabilities. A gentleman over at tehparadox has graciously allowed me to use his beautiful HD cutscenes from both games, but I still need the boss battles and some other stuff from inside the levels. I especially need those in good quality as I have to crop and zoom those without losing too much quality. If anyone has these, or is willing to capture them for me, I'd greatly appreciate it. You'd absolutely get full credit for your efforts. PM me if you would like to help.

I did a rough cut of the first one a while ago, and it turned out really good. I just needed better sources.

Now as for the cash-grab ripoff disappointment that is TFU II, well I don't know how well that will translate...

I'm quite excited about it. Once I have all of my sources, it shouldn't take very long.

I'd really like to use that awesome trailer for TFUII as the opening, insted of the original Kamino escape. It's just much more dynamic and badass. I'd have to color his sabers red throughout the scene, but that shouldn't be too hard.

What I'd probably need, if anyone is interested in helping, is the boss battles and some of the cutscenes that were done with the ingame characters instead of seperately animated. TFU I doesn't do this much but tons of TFU II is that way. For instance, all of that level where Juno is captured by Fett is done in the game, so without it I would have a giant loophole in the story.

I also think it would be fun to get video of the DLC missions, so I can do a branching storyline. Basically you choose when the movie starts if you want to see the Light Side or Dark Side ending, and then the chapter will seamlessly split off to show that at the end.

I really, really would love to have someone that can help with this. Even if you don't own the game, I'll send you my copies or give you money to rent it so you can record it. TFU II should only take you about 3 hours to beat anyway.

If there's anyone with a good PC, I'm sure you could us Fraps to record it very nicely.

I know! I just need those damn fight scenes haha! It's going to be really cool I just don't have a way to pull it off besides spending a couple hundred on an HD capture card, which I don't have at the moment.

Anybody able to direct me to a good way to capture Xbox 360 footage? I'd like it to be HD but if that's not possible it's not possible. I know what I want, which is the Hauppage 1212 but thats about $190 and I can't blow that much money for one edit, unfortunately.

I have considered ordering one from Amazon and returning it within 30 days... hmm...

But if anyone has a non-shenanigans solution, please let me know!

Now this sounds cool, I hope you get it sorted out, I just beat TFU II, it seemed a lot shorter then TFU 1 but it was still very fun, great games.

I hate TFU II, but it plays out a lot better in a film version than in a 4 hour waste of 60 bucks, I think. The story is okay, there just isn't enough of it.

Anybody got the games for PC? You could record some footage in FRAPS for me and save my life.

Just a bit of an update on this.

It's definitely going to happen, but I need to be able to capture the gameply footage in good quality of I'm never going to be happy with the results. I intend to purchase an HD capture card for my PC so that I can do this, but I don't have the money right this second for that.

So I'm probably going to do The Phantom Menace and maybe another quick edit before I get to this. Sorry to delay it, but if I can't do it right I'd rather not do it at all.

Hmm, we should post about Spence in the "Whatever Happened to <Whatshisname>" thread, as I haven't seen him for a while either here or at fe.org.

Things are in the works, but my job is kicking my butt at the moment. I'll get some more time to work on everything once the summer ends.
