TLDR: I made a custom cut of the movies that makes Luke more akin to his OT self, explains better the two factions, Rey is less op from the beginning and removes all the plot holes or just nonsense (IMHO) I have ever encountered (I’M WATCHING YOU R2D2 ON LOW POWER MODE MAGICALLY TURNING ON). It’s rough, relies too much on the beginning crawl text and I’m not a professional in any way, but I did the best I could and I hope you like it. PM me for the link to download if you own the movies.
Complete story: So I was sitting one night in my desk and I just started to think on all the things I would have wanted to see in the sequels. I appreciated all the effort the actors made and it also made me think about how this was the last time we got to see Carrie on screen so I thought I maybe would be able to cut the movie and transforming it to something more universally liked to honor her and her work as well as the work of the other actors. So my crusade began.
I rewatched over and over every scene and I knew I wasn’t a professional but I had my ideas straight and the software so I opened the movie files and started editing. The result was something all of my friends and their friends loved (counting this is a rough work, but made with love). In the first group of 15 people I tested this on: 10 didn’t like the sequels and 5 did. All of them gave the thumbs up so I knew I had “something” on my hands and now I have decided to share it. I therefore declare now that you can take all that I have done and refine it in any way you want, even re-do it in a more HD professional way if you like. If you could by some miracle transform my crawling text into actual scenes it would be top notch. Be warned that I rely heavily on the start crawling text, but its shorter and more fair than saying “go read the books duh!”.
Goal: Making Rey’s journey more believable, make a Luke much more Luke-ish and make more characters (even Holdo) more likable and relatable and patch plot holes and lore breaking points.
Things I (believe I) have achieved:

Rey is not Overpowered from the beginning and not liked by everyone right away (I see you Han) and DOESN’T know the Millenium falcon better than Han LOL. She grows and only after being the student of Luke and Leia can she face Kylo head on.

I mostly patch the plot holes (R2D2 doesn’t go into a coma, Poe has a reason for not BOLTING to the X Wing at the start and doesn’t LOOK INTO THE BINOCULARS and wasting time, Luke has a reason for not helping, etc.)

Mostly patched lore breaking stuff (lightspeed skipping, tracing through lightspeed, “why did obi wan didn’t heal qui gon” stuff) and I tried to do it in a way that you don’t “need the books” to understand. Everything that can’t be explained in the movie with scenes is completely gone or patched in the crawling text. The diad thingy is the only thing that is beyond me.

I add music that nods to stuff (I don’t want to spoil, I want you to say “I see what you did there”) and in some cases gives a more emotional vibe.

Force Awakens have changes that don’t make the movie that much shorter but absolutely make an impact and set things up properly for the things to come. Ep 7 = 1 hour 42 minutes. Ep 8 & 9 roughly 1 hour each and are completely different.
I really don’t want to spoil specific stuff I want this to be a surprise, as if you are watching this for the first time again. I want you to have the same smile my friends had when we all watched on a stream. The smile on their faces was all to me.
