I don’t know where these mixed reviews you’re seeing are. Andor has come back to near universal praise. This just confuses me.
You may have seen that Andor has returned to mixed reviews—but that just gives me the perfect opportunity to continue my movie series based on the earlier episodes.
Season one worked beautifully as a film trilogy, and with season two structured around three episodes spaced a year apart, it’s shaping up to be ideal for a new quadrilogy-style film edition.
After viewing the first 6 episodes, I gotta say I’m a little disappointed but it has a lot of potential. Here are my suggested changes so far…
Episode 1 - 3
• Delay use seeing Cassian til much later
• Cut down on how indestructible the new Tie is
• Cut down on how bad Cassian flies the Tie
• Edit down as much of the wedding as possible
• Cut out as much exposition dumps as I can
• Remove the “flirting” intro with Cassian and the girl (seems pointless)
• Remove all of Yavin 4 scenes and the bickering gang Cassian bumps into
• Edit together the Krennic meeting into one scene to build anticipation
• Remove some of Syril and Dedra build up to mother scene
• Remove some homestead scenes for pacing
• Rearrange a lot of scenes to lessen the back and forth
• Remove Bix saying the R word
While chapter IV movie instalment is finished, I’d like to see how the story unfolded before releasing anything to you guys.
Chapter IV coming in around 1h:48m
Episode 4 - 6
• Cut out Bix temper changes. I know she’s suffering from PTSD but I feel she’s a little disjoined in a few scenes and it would be better to keep her just pretending to be happy instead of switching.
• Remove the lesbian subplot. It wasn’t needed in my trilogy and it doesn’t serve any purpose in this edit.
• Remove Mon hustling for votes.
• Remove any weirdly paced empire scenes.
• Trim down the underground community meeting.
• Reposition the Saw scenes for them to have more impact.
• Remove empire members getting carried away with drinking at the party scene.
Chapter V coming in around 2h:13m
Any other suggestions welcome below…

I almost gave up on this project after watching Ep. 4 - 6 but after the 3rd watch I think there is a movie in there. I think the main issue for Season 2 is that it’s paced like a TV show, where as Season 1 made a perfect movie trilogy once you cut off the fat.
Chapter V coming in around 2h13m but will update soon.

Yeah, really the only place I have seen anything negative is in some of the fan-edit forums, here, fe.org and Reddit.
@moviesremastered in your initial post you say this will be the perfect quintology, I think you mean quadrilogy, since this will be four arcs into four movies.

There’s mixed reviews all over the fandom. “universal praise”? Are you just looking at Rotten Tomatoes or something? Seems to be a real Marmite season with not much middle ground. People are either really into it or they’re just bored and tuning out.

I imagine people reading your OP are quite confused by your claim of ‘mixed reviews’ or above ‘a real marmite season’ - given the near-universal praise the critics (and early reviewers for all 12 episodes) gave Season 2. The majority of fans online too it seems, since the shows has commenced airing.
A number of the ‘bored and tuning out’ people on reddit, youtube and twitter… seem to be people who didn’t watch Andor Season 1 - (or found it boring / ‘not Star Wars’ / no ‘lightsabers or Jedi’ / or issues with bricks and screws in Star Wars - and switched off etc) - seem to be repeating the same issues for Season 2 (without having actually watched it)?
I only found a small number of mixed / negative reviews online in my search for reviews (here and here) - though far far fewer than the number of positive reviews. Perhaps you could send me a PM for where you found your mixed or negative reviews? TIA.
Good luck with the edit. 👍

I have to admit that I find the second season kinda boring. Love the look and the acting is well done but the story is a little meh. Season one is my favorite of all the Disney SW content. I’m still looking forward to the third part but expectations have been lowered.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. Just to clarify, when I mentioned “mixed reviews” or called it a “marmite season,” I was referring more to general fan reactions than critic reviews. I totally get that critics and early access reviewers have been overwhelmingly positive, but personally, I put more weight on everyday viewers—the ones who don’t have incentives tied to screeners or industry perks.
Across forums, YouTube comments, and social media (outside of the hype bubbles), I’ve seen a noticeable number of fans expressing burnout or just not engaging with Season 2 the way they did with Season 1. Some of them are long-time Star Wars fans, not just the usual “not my Star Wars” crowd. So, when I say “mixed,” I’m reflecting that wider, more grounded reaction—not the critic consensus.
That said, it’s great that the season is resonating so well with you and many others. Always good when a show finds its audience.
EDIT: There’s mixed reviews here https://www.metacritic.com/tv/andor/user-reviews/?season=season-2

I feel the same way. I’m not sure where I posted it before, but the hype around this season had me feeling like a kid at Christmas. 3 episodes in, that excitement vanished and now, 6 episodes deep, it feels more like a dead-end job where I’m just counting down the minutes until it’s over.
I’ve got no doubt the final 3 episodes will deliver, but the first 6 have just been too much of a slow burn for me, especially after the momentum of my trilogy edits from season 1.
