The Mandalorian - Bailey's Version

Most edits of The Mandalorian turn it into a movie or try to change it drastically. This is not one of those edits, this is The Mandalorian for those who like The Mandalorian mostly, but want an easier rewatch.
This edit aims to do a couple different things.

  1. Shorten The Mandalorian for easier rewatches by removing some filler.
  2. Make The Book of Boba Fett better (or at least not terrible).
  3. Extend the time that Mando and Grogu are apart.

Editing details:
Each episode has the chapter and number removed and the “previously on” removed.

Part 1 - Season 1 of Mando, plus some of The Book of Boba Fett.

  1. The Mandalorian – No changes, this is a perfect episode in my mind.
  2. The Child – Minimal changes.
  3. The Sin – Remove mention of conserving the whistling birds, he seems to have plenty of them.
  4. Stranger in a Strange Land – The flashbacks of the first two eps of Book of Boba Fett.
  5. The Gunslinger – Minor changes throughout. Added the scene from “The Prisoner” where Mando gives the child the ball from the lever.
  6. The Sands of Tatooine – The flashbacks of the 3rd and 4th eps of Boba Fett. Boba taking Fennec to the mod parlor removed, we cut from Boba saving her, to her waking up by the fire.
  7. The Prisoner – References to Mando only being invited for use of his ship removed. The big red guy is toned way down. No shot of the bad guys in the cell at the end because Mando killed them all. Removed the scene at the end where Mando gives the child the ball from the lever.
  8. The Reckoning – Minimal changes.
  9. The Redemption – Minimal changes.

Along with the changes above, the episode “The Sanctuary” was removed completely. The only thing worthwhile that happens in this episode is Mando meets Cara Dune, in my edit they already know each other.

Part 2 - Season 2 of Mando.

  1. The Marshal – Minor changes throughout. Cob Vanth telling the story of how he got the armor removed. The beginning of the original second episode “The Passenger” moved to the end of this episode.
  2. The Covert – A big chunk of “The Passenger” added to this episode. After the Razor Crest falls through the ice, we cut everything from there to the wake-up with the spiders crawling on the Crest. No hot tubs, no talking through the droid, none of that crap. There is quite a lot of editing in this episode, too much to list every detail. Once we leave this planet, the ep is the original “The Heiress” with only minor changes.
  3. The Siege – The Child in school removed. Captain Teva investigating, and Cara Dune being recruited to the New Republic removed.
  4. The Jedi – No changes, great ep in my opinion.
  5. The Tragedy – Fennec running across the tops of rocks while getting shot at trimmed/removed. Why would she not just jump down behind them? Scene of Mando and Cara talking about Mayfeld moved to the next episode.
  6. The Believer – Scene of Mando and Cara talking about Mayfeld from previous ep, moved to this ep.
  7. The Rescue – Deepfake Luke added.

Part 3 - Season 3 of Mando, plus some of The Book of Boba Fett.

  1. The New Daimyo of Mos Espa – The “present day” scenes of Boba Fett eps 1-4 heavily edited, too much to list. No mod gang in this edit.
  2. The Apostate – “The Return of the Mandalorian” ep of Boba Fett, edited into a Mandalorian episode. Removes Boba references, namely Fennec recruiting Mando at the end.
  3. In the Name of Honor – Eps 6-7 of Boba, heavily edited, too much to list it all. No Grogu. Minimal Mando. End battle heavily trimmed. The original battle was pretty terrible, and I tried to remedy that the best I could. No mod gang! Very little Free Town folks. No reunion between Mando and Grogu.
  4. The Convert – Only the Coruscant portion of the original “The Convert”. The Mando portions of the original version were moved to episode 6 or 7. This ep was moved up in the timeline, so that along with no Grogu in Boba Fett, this adds more time that Mando and Grogu are apart.
  5. The Padawan – The Grogu episodes of Book of Boba Fett and the Grogu portions of “The Foundling” from Mando season 3 combined to create one Grogu focused episode. Luke showing Grogu his memories and the memory scene from The Foundling combined into one sequence.
  6. The Mines of Mandalore – See number 7 below.
  7. The Pirate – Eps 6 & 7 are a combo of season 3 eps 1-6. The Foundling, The Convert and Guns for Hire are mostly removed. But this is where it is a little fuzzy. I started with Smudger9’s movie edit of season 3, I took some more out, added some stuff back that they took out. Moved a bunch around. This was over a year ago. I went back to my timeline to try to make a change list, but it is a jumbled mess, but trust me, it is way better now. Haha!
  8. The Spies – The portions of “Guns for Hire” where Bo-Katan and Mando visit the other Mandalorians on Plazir-15 is moved to the beginning of this ep and the rest of the original “The Spies” plays out with no other changes.
  9. The Return – Minimal changes.

In the DL file you will see there are episodes labeled as skippable, these are optional, up to you. They are basically filler episodes that I like even though they are filler. This is edited in a way that these somewhat filler episodes can be skipped without missing anything important. Anything important is moved to a different episode. This includes basically all of Book of Boba Fett too. I don’t recommend it, but it can be skipped. Boba Fett isn’t good but has some good moments. The Mando and Grogu stuff is all turned into Mando episodes. Also, if Boba Fett is skipped, it adds to the mystery of Boba Fett, which is cool.
This turns the 31 episodes of Mando and Boba into 25 episodes, or 18 episodes if you skip the skippable ones. This reduces it from 1,578 minutes to 1,037 minutes, or 746 minutes if you skip the skippable ones.

TL;DR - the basic gist is -
Some filler episodes removed. The important stuff from the filler eps (or skippable eps) was moved to other eps.

I always get worried about disrupting continuity. I seem to get blamed for that a lot.
