By the way nobody noticed that the company in the title is LucasFlim? People used to complain about these things
Now corrected - thanks mate.
Sam Cooke - A Change Is Gonna ComeâŚ
Is there something in the water today? Is it just because itâs Monday?
I donât see much of anything to complain about? In fact, things have seemed fairly calm around here lately.
You havenât seen the invisible thread.
Itâs not so invisible these days⌠đ
I think itâs a big misunderstanding to say that Kathleen Kennedy put that scene in the film but Iâve seen a few people suggest that. What Rian said was that Kathleen was interested in seeing Leia show force powers, itâs a stretch to believe that Kathy decided how they should be shown. She would leave the writing to the writer.
That section of the interview starts at about 19:20.
Nice that they gave her some Force-related scenes but they didnât bother to make her relevant to the plot other than being an RotJ Ackbar-like character like in TFA (what I mean is: sheâs the boss of the rebel band⌠and thatâs it). These are the priorities.
Honestly, how is this a big improvement over RotJ? Or even the entire OT? Because Leia didnât have a character arc in the OT other than a devolution of her character in the Jabba scenes (âWho cares about the galaxy? I must save my love interest!â). And the twist in RotJ had no impact to the story other than two bits of the climax (the Vader-Luke duel and solving the love triangle after the destruction of the second Death Star). And itâs quite sad how Han and Luke gets all the attention in the ST, even after leaving the rest of the galaxy at the mercy of the First Order, but Leia remains all the whole time, creates a paramilitary force and warns the New Republic and yet sheâs mostly a background character in these movies.
Sorry, Iâm really disappointed with how they have handled the female characters in the Disney movies. Theyâre not really a huge improvement compared with the Lucas era, other than being more in number, technically being the main protagonists and the lack of sexualization/forced romance.
I think Carrie Fisher is on record as saying that Episode 9 was to be âherâ film? (in regards of the 3 main OT cast⌠Han got most of the scenes in TFA, Luke had most of TLJ, and that IX would Leiaâs) - obviously, and sadly, that is no longer going to be the case.
Leia: *uses the Force in space, where there would be no strong gravity or resistance, to pull slightly so she could float back on board*
people: omg Leia can FLY now the Force canât make people FLY what is this RUINED FOREVER.
You forgot the angry shaking of the fist at Kathleen Kennedy by some people mate đ
Really enjoying this guyâs rants lately:

I wonder if part of the delay in announcing this is because maybe it ties to the fate of some of these characters?

âHarloff Interviews Filoni! They Talk Future of Lucasfilm Ahead of Star Wars Rebels Finaleâ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9w202ewiiE (from Collider Videos)
Thereâs something about Filoniâs Star Wars sensibility that rubs me the wrong way. Having watched Rebels, it feels remarkably sterile, existing in this purgatory between epic adventure and serialized drama.
True but i would take it over holdo not telling plans to the Resistance and starting a goddamn mutiny.
What?
How is Kathleen Kennedy responsible for that occurrence in TLJ (did she write/come up with the plot and script?, and wasnât it proved that Holdoâs assertion was correct?)
Â
Â
As for Filoni taking over the creative team⌠for me, no. It seems he and others do a âtop jobâ with various input into the series and films.
(notably history and lore etc - using other creativesâ work in both Legends / Canon and then retconning or rewriting that work into his own projects - without giving the original creativeâs any credit! So much for the âone consistent narrativeâ and âcreatively aligned program of Star Wars storytellingâ ideas of nu-canon!)
Maybe he has earnt a chance at a film? That could likely be the next step - if not working on a live action tv series, first?
Â
Â
2023 Edit: Caston & Emre have compiled a couple of informative posts on Dave Filoniâs incorrect claims on canon, and also his re-writing & retconning of other creativesâ projects in both Legends and Canon for use in his own various projects, in The 2008 Clone Wars messes up continuity thread.
All without giving the original creatives any credit - or even links to their original work.
The two âinfo postsâ linked above also covers Filoniâs re-writing and retconning other creativesâ work into his own projects also completely ignores the idea and reasoning given as to why Canon and Legends was introduced by Lucasfilm in 2014.

I really donât understand the difference between the two, so I pass.My Vote: I abstain.
Why does this person even get to vote for anything if they donât know anything?
Indeed mate - and also why isnât there some bumph somewhere in some sort of âInfo Packâ explaining the difference so people can educate themselves - in what the Academy âdefineâ each category as? (before they get anywhere near being in a position to vote for this type of thing)
Â
Forgive my grumpiness - Iâm a little disappointed this wasnât an Oscar from Sesame Street thread - maybe getting his own film based on a future/alternative 2018. Now that would win awards (mainly from me).

HI all. Han solo was not supposed to be frozen in this substance, Luke skywalker was! Boba Fett and Darth Vader agreed to use Han solo as a test. The Carbonite froze everything that was working in him so he did not need any food or water. The real question is, How did he survive if his heart stopped? This is simmilar to a heart attack called Scad. This is when there is a tear in an artery of the heart, Mostly happens to women. Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is also called sudden cardiac death. Sudden cardiac arrest occurs when the heart suddenly stops beating, which stops oxygen-rich blood from reaching the brain and other organs. ⌠This causes death of the heart muscle. But a heart attack does not always mean that the heart stops beating. So, Han solo must have survived this!
You bumped a 14 year old post with incorrect medical terms for part of a plot from a sci-fi film - as your first post on here?
SCA can often result in a sudden cardiac death - yet Solo didnât die⌠nor did he seemingly suffer from a heart attack from being frozen in carbonite. Nor did âThis causes death of the heart muscleâ.
Bad bot.
Whether what she recounts is accurate or not, sheâs going to be in trouble for this one:
Star Wars 8: Rian Johnson THREW OUT JJ Abrams entire Last Jedi outline says Daisy Ridley
Ah mate - thatâs from the Daily Express - who seem to often run/sensationalise a daily click-bait Star Wars article taken out of context just to get hits. They are not reliable - or accurate in their reporting/article content - personally Iâd take anything that appears from there with a pinch of salt.

A more accurate article in the context of what Daisy Ridley originally said, and where she said it, can be found here:-

^ Same here - I was hoping for a deleted scene or a further reference to expand upon it - maybe in the coming TLJ novel too?
Ok.
So why would you hate it then?
Why donât you do another armchair diagnosis?
No. Bitter, are we?
lol, see.
but no, really, i just donât know why you choose to return in this way. Meaning, you dug out a several day old post about a nonsense topic and started asking about it. I assume you had a reason other than antagonizing?
Because it was on the previous page? Because not everyone reads everything everyone says on a forum as soon as they are posted? Because this is the Random Thoughts thread?
Take your pick.
Maybe when youâre quoting old posts and asking questions of people, then you should read back to the start of the topic youâre actually posting about.
A single thread page and only 3 days previous does not constitute âoldâ.
Also âthe start if the topicâ? Do you mean the thread OP; or the beginning of that string of conversation? Because Random Thoughts are random, and not only was DEâs comment the beginning of that conversational string, but also Frink (seemingly) didnât/doesnât understand either. So in either case of what you meant, reading back through is irrelevant.
In the context of it being âoldâ as in it is not a current discussion. And, yes a 3 day old post would constitute an old post (for me, anyway).
Also yes, the start of the topic does mean âthe beginning of that string of conversationâ, as you put it.
No, itâs not irrelevant - itâs good practice for posting on a forum in general, yes?
So youâre saying that if I visit the forum regularly but donât read a particular thread for a few days, and the topic of conversation since last viewing doesnât span more than a couple pages at best, I am still not eligible to remark on something someone said?
No, thatâs not what I am saying at all.
I said âyou should read back to the start of the topic youâre actually posting aboutâ.
