Hey guys. I haven’t seen a general thread on fan-made Star Wars works, specifically filmed and animated kinds, so I thought I’d put this up (if there’s already one, I’ll take this down). Here, we just talk about good, bad, and whatever SW fan films there are out there. Put down random thoughts. Just something to talk here, if you want.
 

Getting the ball rolling, I just found this animated short, called…

‘STAR WARS: Echoes of the Past’ - by YouTuber Andrei Terbea (www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjA1HacQZg8).

^ Not exactly action-packed like most, but I thought it was pretty good. Just a bit where Rey and Luke talk, and I liked it.

With it’s unique take on events that happened offscreen in the original film, Rogue One probably owes this one a debt. 😉
Director Kevin Rubio has gone on to write some of the funniest Star Wars comics ever. (Among other things.) Wish he could make one of the spinoff movies.

In answer to the OP… I really enjoyed watching ‘STAR WARS: Echoes of the Past’. The creator of it is indeed correct - it does feel more relevant since TLJ was later released and featured similar themes. I love that ‘simple’ yet absorbing style of animation too - and the well constructed dialogue and delivery too. Also that at the end of the video he took a couple of minutes to give some insight into his fan film…

Liked that a lot - had that cool BSG vibe of when they were doing earlier episodes in the forests on Caprica - nicely shot, with mystery and building tension - with some suspense thrown in too…

A shame the fan editor chose to cast aspersions without facts and created & maintained a negative atmosphere surrounding his Edit - plus somewhat neglecting his own responsibilities and failings when the music rights/licence holders learnt he was using their IP in his Edit.

I’m sure the publicity he generated from it helped his film reach a larger audience though…

I’ll be giving his future Edits and content a miss - without facts, balance, awareness or responsibility it’s apparent to me he’ll likely create ‘much ado about nothing’ again in the future for more clicks, publicity or monetisation of his channel. And there’s more than enough of those type of negative and toxic youtubers out there already.
 

I really liked the ideas behind the Star Wars Theory Vader film. It’s clearly a fan film, but as fan films go it is really up there. The short scenes in space alone are incredible. One tiny gripe is that the Clone Trooper actors were moving their blasters up and down which just doesn’t happen in the Star Wars Universe.

I thought the Star Wars Theory fan film had some decent parts , though I could do without the sjw comments from his fanbase . The Vader costume was very movie accurate and the space scenes were on par with the films as well . On the flipside , the Emperor looked terrible and the blue interior set he was in toward the end seemed like it was shot in a bedroom with lighting effects to make it look a little larger . The square windows did not seem very Star Wars to me . Maybe if it had a bigger budget .

There was a fan film about Vader that had the same kind of emotional vibe to it years ago , and while it does have some cringey moments , it is still one of the best I have seen .
