ORIGINAL POST:

Hello there!
I have been forming an idea for a series of fanedits that condense THE CLONE WARS series down to six films. While I have not begun the editing process yet, I plan to start very soon.
Here are the episodes I will include and the film outlines:

EPISODE I - PATH OF A PADAWAN will cover a very abridged version of the Christophsis arc, introducing Ahsoka and Ventress. The remainder of this film will cover part of the Geonosis arc (only LANDING AT POINT RAIN and WEAPONS FACTORY) and possibly part of the Malevolence arc to develop Anakin and Ahsoka’s relationship and introduce Master Plo Koon.

EPISODE II - CORRUPTION ON MANDALORE will cover Season 2’s Mandalore arc and Season 3’s Mandalore arc. I also hope to include HEROES ON BOTH SIDES and A FRIEND IN NEED because those episodes involve Mandalore and are important for Ahsoka knowing Bo-Katan later.

EPISODE III - CHILDREN OF DATHOMIR (or SERVANTS OF THE DARK SIDE) will cover the Nightsisters arc and Ventress’s two episodes from Season 4’s Return of Maul arc.

EPISODE IV - AN UNTAMED EVIL (or BROTHERS OF THE NIGHT) will cover the remaining two episodes of the Return of Maul arc, followed by the entire Maul on Mandalore arc from Season 5.

EPISODE V - TRIALS OF THE FORCE will cover the Mortis arc and the Ahsoka Framed arc.

EPISODE VI - FATE OF THE REPUBLIC will cover the Martez Sisters arc (in an abridged form) and the Siege of Mandalore, wrapping up the series.

So, do you all think this will work and form a coherent story? I tried to pick the most important episodes. I would really like to include the Order 66 Origins arc and other Domino Squad content, but I just didn’t have any room in my six-film structure. Please feel free to share any advice for this project. : )

UPDATED POST:

Hello there!
This is a saga of fanedits that condense the major plotlines of The Clone Wars series into six or eight films. I personally recommend the more comprehensive eight-film saga, but if you’re looking to watch the series in a quicker way the six-film variant may work best for you. : )

THE SIX FILM SAGA (Version #1, the original cut) goes like this:

EPISODE I - PATH OF THE PADAWAN covers an abridged version of the Christophsis arc, the Malevolence arc, and half of the Geonosis arc.

EPISODE II - CORRUPTION ON MANDALORE covers the Mandalore arc from season 2, the Mandalore arc from season 3, and an abridged version of the Lux Bonteri arc.

EPISODE III - CHILDREN OF DATHOMIR covers the Nightsisters arc and the Ventress episodes from the Return of Maul arc.

EPISODE IV - AN UNTAMED EVIL covers the Savage episodes from the Return of Maul arc, as well as the Maul on Mandalore arc.

EPISODE V - TRIALS OF THE FORCE covers the Mortis arc and the Ahsoka Framed arc.

EPISODE VI - FATE OF THE REPUBLIC covers the Order 66 Origins arc and the Siege of Mandalore arc.

THE EIGHT FILM SAGA (Version #2, the extended cut) goes like this:

EPISODE I - PATH OF THE PADAWAN covers an abridged version of the Christophsis arc, the Malevolence arc, and half of the Geonosis arc.

EPISODE II - CORRUPTION ON MANDALORE covers the Mandalore arc from season 2, the Mandalore arc from season 3, and an abridged version of the Lux Bonteri arc.

EPISODE III - A GALAXY AT WAR covers the Domino Squad arc and the Citadel arc.

EPISODE IV - CHILDREN OF DATHOMIR covers the Nightsisters arc and the Ventress episodes from the Return of Maul arc.

EPISODE V - AN UNTAMED EVIL covers the Savage episodes from the Return of Maul arc, as well as the Maul on Mandalore arc.

EPISODE VI - THE CLONE CONSPIRACY covers the Umbara and Order 66 Origins arc.

EPISODE VII - TRIALS OF THE FORCE covers the Mortis arc and the Ahsoka Framed arc.

EPISODE VIII - FATE OF THE REPUBLIC covers the Martez Sisters arc and the Siege of Mandalore arc

These films are available as 720p .MOV files.

FINAL POST:

Hello,
I just wanted to let everyone know that these fanedits are no longer available. There are a few reasons for this, but one is because I feel like sharing files with others online puts the security of my storage account at risk. I apologize to everyone who has asked for links, but the edits are not available anymore.

I have updated the main post and changed the thread name to reflect this change.

It would be a welcomed idea, but it is a massive undertaking. I linked you some threads, to gather ideas for yourself. The most anticipated - unfortunately never finished approach due to losing the files - was smudger9´s.
Since then we didn’t had any real finished projects. Just separate sequences as a maul only, mandalor only.

Genuinely sounds great.

I think you could definitely do with a clone heavy arc though - the Domino Squad arc is very well liked (Clone Cadets, Rookies, ARC Troopers), and features 99, the inspiration for the later Bad Batch (soon to have a TV series). Smudger9 cut the Christophsis and Domino Squad arcs into a good movie, that might be worth checking out. The Order 66 arc is also pretty important to the clones and the finale of this series.

I’d drop Mortis. A lot of people like it, but I think it’s super ham fisted and clunky - to me it doesn’t feature the ‘right’ mysticism for Star Wars. I’d replace that with the Yoda arc (The Lost One, Voices, Destiny, Sacrifice), which does a nice bit of mysticism and also shows Yoda starting to recognise the failings of the prequel-era Jedi order, preparing him for his Dagobah exile, a spiritual clash with Palpatine, and leading nicely into some of the plots of the sequel era.

People generally like the Umbara, Kadavo, Obi-Wan Undercover, and Younglings arcs, though they kind of stand alone and aren’t as vital as the above.

Similarly, there are episodes which add ‘connective tissue’ to a lot of other SW media, like some of the Boba Fett/bounty hunter arcs, the Citadel arc with Tarkin, Onderon with Saw Gererra, and episodes which show Padme’s political competence, but again, I don’t think they’re as vital as the ones you’ve picked.

Absolutely.
A bit context for padmes political skill would be nice though.

For your third episode, I would use the first title.

Thanks for your advice.
I actually really like Mortis, but anyway, the main reason I’m including it is because it is very important to Rebels and referenced a lot, and Ahsoka’s bird friend Morai (who appears in the last Vader scene of Clone Wars as well) would make no sense without the inclusion of the Mortis arc.

I could include the Yoda arc, but it doesn’t really fit with the other films since the main character would now be Yoda and it’s just a four-episode arc with no follow-up arc to combine into a movie.

The Mandalore (Season 3) arc should showcase Padmé’s political skills quite a bit, since CORRUPTION focuses directly on her. Also, HEROES ON BOTH SIDES and PURSUIT OF PEACE heavily feature Padmé.

I would really like to fit NIGHTSISTERS, MONSTER, WITCHES OF THE MIST, BROTHERS, REVENGE, REVIVAL, EMINENCE, SHADES OF REASON, and THE LAWLESS into a single film to cover Savage Opress’s whole arc, with him as the main character of this film.

MASSACRE and BOUNTY aren’t really that important, so they could be left out. When Savage reunites with Talzin in REVENGE, she explains Dooku and Grievous attacked the Nightsisters, but they’ll survive as they always have. That basically covers the Massacre episode. When Ventress shows up later, it can be assumed she decided to become a bounty hunter without showing her first bounty hunting mission in BOUNTY.

What do you think? I don’t know if I could get nine episodes down to a reasonable 2 1/2 hour film length or not.

Thanks for your help! Yes, I think CHILDREN OF DATHOMIR works best for that film.

Simply put, do your thing. You probably could get hundreds of advices (Wishes) how it should be, but the thing that counts is your idea.
Regarding Nightsisters, Monster, Witches of the mist, Brothers, Revenge, Revival, Eminence, Shades of reason, Lawless: just try it, it’ll be difficult for sure, but maybe you could get in 2 4/5h.

So, here’s all the arcs I’m planning to cover:

CHRISTOPHSIS (Season 1)
MALEVOLENCE? (Season 1)
GEONOSIS (Season 2)
MANDALORE (Season 2)
MANDALORE (Season 3)
LUX BONTERI (Season 3/4)
NIGHTSISTERS (Season 3)
RETURN OF MAUL (Season 4)
MAUL ON MANDALORE (Season 5)
MORTIS (Season 3)
AHSOKA FRAMED (Season 5)
AHSOKA’S JOURNEY/MARTEZ SISTERS (Season 7)
THE SIEGE OF MANDALORE (Season 7)

And a few extra ones I might include:
DOMINO SQUAD (Season 1/3)
UMBARA (Season 4)
ORDER 66 ORIGINS (Season 6)

The only thing about including the first Domino Squad arc is that you then must include THE CITADEL arc featuring Fives and Echo, which I don’t really care much for.

Here are the major characters of this film series:
ANAKIN SKYWALKER
OBI-WAN KENOBI
AHSOKA TANO
BARRISS OFFEE
ASAJJ VENTRESS
SAVAGE OPRESS
MAUL OPRESS
MANDALORE (the planet and all its characters: SATINE KRYZE, BO-KATAN KRYZE, ALMEC, PRE VISZLA, etc.)

Maybe FATE OF THE REPUBLIC could be Order 66 Origins and Siege of Mandalore instead? I wanted Ahsoka to be the main character of the final film, but her side adventure with the Martez sisters isn’t as important to the final arc as Fives’ discovery is.

If ORDER 66 ORIGINS is in the final film, the rest of the Domino Squad arcs won’t really be necessary. The opening crawl can just explain that Fives is a clone and a friend of Rex.
Also, then Ahsoka’s return in THE SIEGE OF MANDALORE would be as much of a surprise to the audience as it is to Anakin and Obi-Wan.

Sorry to ask, but what do you mean with „order 66 origins“? The seventh season?

I meant the first arc of Season 6; The Unknown, Conspiracy, Fugitive, and Orders. Sorry that was kind of unclear, I’ve heard that arc called several names.

Here are the opening crawls for each installment of this film saga.

I - PATH OF THE PADAWAN

The CLONE WARS continue to rage across the galaxy. In an attempt to weaken the REPUBLIC, the SEPERATISTS have reopened droid factories on Geonosis and unleashed a massive starship known as the MALEVOLENCE.

Jedi Knights Obi-Wan Kenobi and his former apprentice Anakin Skywalker have been dispatched to the besieged world of CHRISTOPHSIS. Due to Seperatist intereference, they have lost all contact with the Republic.

The two Jedi Knights now travel to a nearby Seperatist base, where a hidden enemy awaits them. This dark warrior is ASAJJ VENTRESS, Count Dooku’s new assassin who has been causing many problems for the Jedi over the past few weeks…

(Episodes covered: The Hidden Enemy [ABRIDGED], The Movie [ABRIDGED - ONLY CHRISTOPHSIS SCENES], Rising Malevolence, Shadow of Malevolence, Destroy Malevolence, Landing at Point Rain, Weapons Factory)

II - CORRUPTION ON MANDALORE

The SEPERATISTS are in retreat! The REPUBLIC has destroyed the Malevolence and disabled the Seperatist droid factories on Geonosis. But now a new threat has emerged.

A large group of planets that want to stay out of the war have formed the COUNCIL OF NEUTRAL SYSTEMS. But rumors suggest that the Council’s leader, Duchess SATINE KRYZE of MANDALORE, may be building an army to fight for the Seperatist cause.

Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, an old friend of Duchess Satine, has been sent to Mandalore to discover the truth behind these claims…

(Episodes covered: The Mandalore Plot, Voyage of Temptation, Duchess of Mandalore, Corruption, The Academy, Heroes on Both Sides [ABRIDGED], A Friend In Need)

III - CHILDREN OF DATHOMIR

Recent peace negotiations between the REPUBLIC and the SEPERATISTS have failed, and the war has resumed in full force.

ASAJJ VENTRESS, Count Dooku’s young apprentice, has received intense training from her master and grown incredibly strong in the DARK SIDE of the Force. Ventress now leads a vicious attack on Republic forces in the Sullust system.

However, DARTH SIDIOUS has sensed her growing power. Fearing that Dooku is planning to betray him, Sidious has concocted an evil scheme to remove Ventress from the war…

(Episodes covered: Nightsisters, Monster, Witches of the Mist, Massacre, Bounty)

IV - AN UNTAMED EVIL

A new Sith apprentice has risen. SAVAGE OPRESS, a son of the planet DATHOMIR, was forced to train in the ways of the Dark Side and used as a pawn in a power struggle between Count Dooku and his former assassin, ASAJJ VENTRESS.

Savage turned against both Dooku and Ventress after enduring much suffering at their hands, and aimlessly fled back to his homeworld. The leader of Dathomir, a witch called Mother Talzin, then sent Savage on a quest to find his long-lost brother, MAUL.

Maul was once a Sith Lord, but was seemingly killed by Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi over ten years ago. In order to help him locate Maul, Talzin gave Savage an enchanted pendant, which has now led him to a junkyard planet known as LOTHO MINOR…

(Episodes covered: Brothers, Revenge, Revival, Eminence, Shades of Reason, The Lawless)

V - TRIALS OF THE FORCE

A mysterious transmission has been intercepted far beyond the Outer Rim, deep in the Chrelythiumn system. Buried in this strange message is a Jedi distress code that has not been used in over two millennia.

Anakin Skywalker and his apprentice Ahsoka Tano, traveling to the planet CATO NEIMOIDIA to fight Seperatist forces, have diverged from their plans and instead resolved to investigate this strange message.

Obi-Wan Kenobi, having returned from the crisis on MANDALORE, has met up with Anakin and Ahsoka to aid them. Fearing a Separatist trap, they are planning to meet with a heavily armed Jedi cruiser…

(Episodes covered: Overlords, Altar of Mortis, Ghosts of Mortis, Sabotage, The Jedi Who Knew Too Much, To Catch a Jedi, The Wrong Jedi)

VI - FATE OF THE REPUBLIC

AHSOKA TANO has left the Jedi Order after being framed for a heinous bombing. Traveling through the underworld of CORUSCANT, Ahsoka has encountered renegade Mandalorian warrior BO-KATAN KRYZE, who has requested her help.

Unbeknownst to the REPUBLIC, the planet MANDALORE has once again been sieged by the forces of former Sith Lord MAUL, who has escaped from the clutches of Darth Sidious and rebuilt his criminal empire.

Elsewhere, Anakin Skywalker leads a valiant assault on Ringo Vinda, a massive space station besieged by the SEPERATISTS. Aided by fellow Jedi Knights and his loyal clone troopers REX, FIVES, and TUP, Skywalker hopes to win another victory for the Republic…

(Episodes covered: The Unknown, Conspiracy, Fugitive, Orders, Old Friends Not Forgotten, The Phantom Apprentice, Shattered, Victory and Death)

My thoughts on the crawls:

„Path of Padawan“:

  • „…over the past few weeks…“ I think something like „over recent times“ or „in the recent past“ would fit better for Star Wars atmosphere.

„Children of Dathomir“:

  • why „Dark Side“ in capital letters? In my opinion it is unnecessary since we already knew who Asajj is.
  • „…has concocted…“ It is a nice word, but not very common, „…has forged…“ is the better choice in my opinion

„An untamed evil“

  • don’t recall surely but isn’t it the first time we will see maul after episode I? If so you should leave out Mauls Name, just end it with „his lost brother…“

„Fate of the Republic“

  • unbekwonst? uncommon, distracts from reading further (at least for myself as non native english reader/speaker), perhaps „Without the knowledge of the republic…“ or completely rephrase it.

Other than that, I’m impressed. In my point of view good choice of the right amount of context for the individual episodes.

Looking forward to your edit.

What do you intend to use as a source and which quality? Especially for the audio.

I feel like TROS, these crawls overuse allcaps for emphasis. Only around 1 term per film should be emphasized by allcaps.

Okay, after reading your feedback, here’s some rewritten crawls that you might like better. I think I’m going to leave “REPUBLIC” and “SEPARATISTS” capitalized because they’re our main sides in the conflict. Most political organizations will also remain capitalized.

I have completely rewritten the crawl for AN UNTAMED EVIL because it just wasn’t flowing well for me before. I have left the mention of Maul because I want to cover his backstory there since we haven’t physically seen him since Episode I. But CMMAP, we have also previously seen Maul in Talzin’s crystal ball in Episode III of this series (actual series episode is “Witches of the Mist”).

I - PATH OF THE PADAWAN

The Clone Wars continue to rage across the galaxy. In an attempt to weaken the REPUBLIC, the SEPARATISTS have reopened droid factories on Geonosis and unleashed a massive starship known as the Malevolence.

Jedi Knights Obi-Wan Kenobi and his former apprentice Anakin Skywalker have been dispatched to the besieged world of Christophsis. Due to Separatist interference, they have lost all contact with the Republic.

The two Jedi Knights now travel to a nearby Seperatist base, where a hidden enemy awaits them. This dark warrior is Asajj Ventress, Count Dooku’s new assassin who has been causing trouble for the Jedi Order…

II - CORRUPTION ON MANDALORE

The SEPARATISTS are in retreat! The REPUBLIC has destroyed the Malevolence and disabled the Separatist droid factories on Geonosis. But now a new threat has emerged.

A large group of planets that want to stay out of the war have formed the Council of Neutral Systems. But rumors suggest that the Council’s leader, Duchess Satine Kryze of Mandalore, may be building an army to fight for the Separatist cause.

Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, an old friend of Duchess Satine, has been sent to Mandalore to discover the truth behind these claims…

Asajj Ventress, Count Dooku’s young apprentice, has received intense training from her master and grown incredibly strong in the Dark Side of the Force. Ventress now leads a vicious attack on Republic forces in the Sullust system.

However, Darth Sidious has sensed her growing power. Fearing that Dooku is planning to betray him, Sidious has forged an evil scheme to remove Ventress from the war…

IV - AN UNTAMED EVIL

The Nightsisters of the planet Dathomir have been pushed to the brink of extinction by the forces of Count Dooku. Asajj Ventress managed to escape the massacre and has began a new life as a bounty hunter.

After escaping from the cruelty of his Sith masters, Savage Opress returned to Dathomir. Mother Talzin, the leader of the Nightsisters, then sent Savage on a quest to find his long-lost brother, MAUL.

V - TRIALS OF THE FORCE

After escaping from the clutches of his old master Darth Sidious, the former Sith Lord Maul has once again taken control of Mandalore with the help of his rebuilt criminal empire. The REPUBLIC is unaware of this growing threat.

Elsewhere, Anakin Skywalker leads a valiant assault on a massive space station besieged by the SEPARATISTS. Aided by fellow Jedi Knights and his loyal clone troopers Rex and Fives, Skywalker hopes to win another victory for the Republic…

I think there all working fine now, also there keep your own ideas intact. That’s the important thing here.
And yes, you’re right, we’ve seen maul before. So forget about that comment.

Okay that’s good. Thanks for your advice, I definitely feel like the crawls flow better now.

I read over the crawls again and found two tittle things, I think are unnecessary:

Path of Padawan
„been causing many problems for the Jedi Order…“ - try it without „many“, doesn’t feel sw like.

Fate of the Republic
„The REPUBLIC is completely unaware…“ - same here, don’t use „completely“.

Both are an emphasis, that isn’t needed. It doesn’t add more tragic to the context. Simpler is better.

I appreciate your project, it’s a hell of work.
