What We Want And How To Make It’ - article by doubleofive

^ Well worth taking the time out to give this article by doubleofive a good read, and then his other posts below it from the link above.

A really good read, and worthy successor to doubleofive’s excellent article on Wired.

I really hope it gets people sitting up and taking notice, and asking Lucasfilm those awkward questions they’ve been avoiding answering for far, far too long.

Palpatine Edit Request - any existing fan edits that focus on Palpatine?

We know you are a big fan of Palpatine, you asked about it here a couple of weeks back 😃

Info Wanted: Edits that focus on Palpatine?

Maybe it is worth going through the Index thread to see if there any Palpatine-focused edits?

If there is not any, how about making one yourself? Or formulating a few ideas of how a Palpatine edit could work?

Discussion: a thread for <strong>fan-made</strong> Star Wars projects, trinkets, gizmos, and endeavours

What a great thread!

I know there is already some videos on how to build a Mouse Droid in here, but thought these may be good for alternative options:

‘Star Wars Mouse Droid Build - Ace Makes’ - 6 minute youtube video - from ‘Ace Cosplay’

‘Star Wars Mouse Droids Fan Builds!’ - 7 minute video - from ‘Adam Savage’s Tested’

‘Build Your Own Star Wars Mouse Droid’ - 5 minute video - from ‘Eric Lindenberg’

& - with instructions and images

‘Star Wars Remote Control Mouse Droid Demo’ (shop bought official product review) - 3 minute video - from ‘Jason Sasaki’

I thought the Expanded Universe included games and music? It appears the mods are adding to this by including docs, fan films, homages, cons & events, theme parks & rides, fan clubs & memberships into it (mainly fan created content or content about us fans).

ooj said as much above:

The Expanded Universe…
'For talk on the books, comics, gaming, soundtracks & music, documentaries, fan films, homages, cons & events, theme parks & rides, fan clubs & memberships…’

For the new and coming Disney+ releases; does the ‘Beyond the Original Trilogy’ section not cover those already?

‘Prequel & Sequel Trilogies, Anthology films, Holiday Special, Ewok movies, the various animated & live action tv series, Rian Johnson films, and other future content.’

The mods don’t seem to get annoyed by members creating threads in the ‘wrong section’, they just seem to move them across. Sometimes a quick look through the Index threads is a good indication of where a thread could likely go.

Maybe it’ll be made more clear after the ‘The Expanded Universe & General Star Wars Discussions’ section has been split up?

oojason said:

Edit: it turns out there really isn’t enough traffic / threads / talk on the Prequels and Sequels to warrant their own sections. Though a combined forum (along with some of the other GFFA releases) would likely be the way to go, and see what happens from there…

From the Some proposed changes to the categories in the Star Wars section of the thread

A shame this is so, but we are the afterall, and the vast number of conversations in the Star Wars section are still about the OT 😃

I imagine there will be a few comparison conversations between the ST and OT soon, or ST vs PT, as people take in TROS and its place in the main Saga & being final the part of the ST.

<strong>The Rise Of Skywalker</strong> — Official Review and Opinions Thread

act on instinct said:

Is it time for a new thread? Seems to be getting more into comparisons between the whole saga now, less specific to TROS. Think it’s a good time for that since the dust has sort of settled.

I hope so. As you say, we have had some time to take in the finished Sequel Trilogy and it would be interesting to read members’ thoughts and viewpoints on each Trilogy, or all the films within the main ‘9 film Saga’.

Especially the plus points, new insights, new connections & also new reasoned criticisms, and not just the previously repeated negativity.

<strong>Despecialized Editions</strong> by Harmy : Index of 'How-To's &amp; Help' Threads | Index of 'General Despecialized Threads' | ‘Where are they? And how do I get them?’ mega-merge thread...

What makes you think the availability of Despecialized Editions on the does not also use torrents or usenet (or something similar)?

As mentioned in the other thread on the Despecialized Editons in this part of the site:-

Some info & help for Harmy’s Despecialized Editions of the Original Trilogy… has a couple more options.

These two threads are worth looking through as well:-

Despecialized Editions by Harmy : Index of ‘How-To’s & Help’ Threads | Index of ‘General Despecialized Threads’ | ‘Where are they? And how do I get them?’ mega-merge thread…

‘How do I do this?’ on the

Going away? Post so here!

I’m feeling the same way also. The constant arguing and negativity in the Star Wars fan base is exhausting, and I just don’t feel much passion for Star Wars as a franchise anymore.

I used to feel similar, but have since jettisoned the negative aspects of fandom from my viewing habbits.

No more toxic or hating videos on youtube, or twitter, or from sites that promote such views and content. And there still many good sites and forums out there still, and youtube channels too. These good places soon fill my youtube and twitter recommendations/likes so I do not see the toxic channels anymore.

I still get to engage with others with a wide range of views and intepretations, but without the hate and repeated negativity.

Overall this place is very good for such respectful views, I think some also take this site for granted, and that we would be worse off without sites such as this one.

Everyone can still contribute to make it an even better place 😃 And if not on this place then we can for the next place, and the next.

Has anyone here received the link? What’s it like? Can’t seem to get a reply from the poster/editor

Likely because it has been a few hours since you sent them a PM - and it could anything from hours through to weeks before you receive a reply.

This may hopefully be of some help mate:-

‘How do I do this?’ on the

No need to be funny, I’m well aware how forums work.
They were on the day that I first mentioned it and didn’t reply, so thought maybe it wasn’t available. Thought I’d ask others if they’ve seen it.

If you leave a gap between the quote and your post it will appear separate. And not as one indistinct post.

Yet you are well aware of how forums work, so may not need any ‘funny help’ 😉

Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Game Series

Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series is coming to PlayStation VR on August 25’:

All 3 games for $30 😃

a 1 minute trailer for it from ILMxLAB You Tube channel:

Vermy much looking to seeing more of this and giving it a play through!

How does someone go about getting an invite code for the forums at

Does it have to be earnt, that someone from there asks you if you want an invite code?

Or can anyone ask for one, and who do we ask?

Mod Edit: it’d appear anyone wanting to know how to join the has an answer…

Reorganising Star Wars Fanedits

oojason said the other day they have now finished re-organising 4/5 forum sections of the site to help members find projects (both completed and unfinished), info and idea threads, and other discussions:-

Toys & Memorabilia | Collections, Toys and Memorabilia - an Index of Discussion Threads…

Star Wars Fan Edits and Other Projects | An Index & Help Thread for Star Wars Fan Edits and Other Projects… • Updated •

Preservation of Other Properties | An Index & Help Thread for Preservation of Other Properties… • Updated •

Fan Edits & Projects for Other Properties | An Index & Help Thread for Fan Edits & Projects for Other Properties… • Updated •

and the Star Wars Preservation forum is now also complete, with just the ‘Index & Help’ thread below to be similarly updated in the next couple of weeks:

An Index & Help Thread for Star Wars Preservations…

He also said the other forum sections of the site have already been previously completed - with tweaks and updates made in the many ‘Index & Help’ threads every so often.

And hopes that if we see any mistakes, errors in them we will post them up so they can correct them. As well as having suggestions for any overlooked threads or projects to be added to the Indexes.

I think the moderation and admin staff have done a remarkable job in updating these Fan Project sections, and also all of the other segments of the site as well. It is certainly much easier to find threads, information and projects on here now, even without a site search function!

And also simpler and better for us members who do not like certain Star Wars releases to avoid them if we want to, but yet also more easily find whatever the Start Wars content we do love and enjoy too 😃

Thank you OT mods and admin.

There are nearly 7000 threads in the 5 forum sections which they have sorted through, plus the ‘Index & Help’ threads for them, since they started in April? They and this community = Amazing 👏 ♥️ 17 years and counting!

Does anyone have these SW Plex / Media Covers in a size that would fit a Blu-Ray case?

RedHeadJedi is on reddit quite a bit, and is a very helpful and talented guy. It is worth asking him if he has already done this, or to ask how easy it would be to resize them to fit a bluray front cover?

There is more of his work (and similar from others) in this thread too, just for interest:

Kodi / Plex / Media Center Posters?

Info: 4K upscales of 2003 <strong>Clone Wars</strong> (Genndy Tartakovsky animated series) (Released)

Apologies if this is being discussed elsewhere and I simply couldn’t find the thread…

I’m aware of DavidMDaut’s project - Recreating the TV Edits of the 2003 Clone Wars Series (HD) - though there is mention online of a seperate and recent 4K upscaled release of Tartakovsky’s much under-rated animated series.

Is this correct - and are these 4K upscales any good? Does anyone have more information on this release?

(or is there a thread on here for the 2003 ‘Clone Wars’ 4K upscales?)

Mod Edit: the The NumeralJoker/MechaSalesman 4K HDR Edits Megathread, Clips Previews, and Release Info thread contains info on the above 2003 Clone Wars series upscales (in both 4K and 1080p) - and also many other intriguing projects…

Harry Potter Extended Editions (Released - though no longer available)

^ Everyone fully respects the work and quality JJP has accomplished with these edits.

Yet it is up to the editor if they want to make their work available or not, this is especially so in light of what has occurred with these ‘advance clips’ and since (with the threats and harrassment towards JJPotter from this entitled idiot).

It is not the community as such that needs to learn from this - just entitled idiots who resort to such threats and harrassment (and also smear JJPotter’s work) because they do not get their own way.
