Need help with DVD ripping on mac platform

I've used Mac the ripper to get AotC onto my finalcut suite, and I have Handbreak to convert it to Mpeg, which works fine, the snag comes when I try to import it into finalcut pro, it says that it is unrecognized aspect ratio and/or framerate

How can I get around this???

Welcome back, Rebel Scumb! Although I don't have the answer to that question, I have a question of my own...do you still have a copy of your original Episode II edit that you might be willing to release to the public? Because I'm doing a edit called "Shroud of the Dark Side", and I'm making heavy use of the list of changes you posted for your old edit.

I know I'm not the only one that would be delighted to have a copy of it. Thanks!

Head on over to http://homepage.mac.com/major4/ and download a copy of ffmpegX. It is a great converter that will convert just about anything. It is a free download but for 14 bux you can buy it and get rid of the try window that pops up when you use it. I just bought it because it's such a great utility for my mac. Take your .VOB or what have you and if you convert it to a .dv file it will open up just fine in Final Cut Pro.

trooperman, I do have my original edit but only on vhs with a few scenes missing. the master was stolen. However the reason I needed this info was to recreate that edit on dvd, and there will be some additional edits from my original edl

most noteably. Dooku is no longer a former jedi, he is just a mysterious count who turns out to be a sith

Once I get it done, which should not be that long, I should be able to share it. I'm flattered that you think so highly of it. I always think its a bit weird that I seem to be the first to have done an AOTC re-edit, even if its not widely available, by EDL has been posted on several forums.

Weird.

anyways I'll keep you posted. I think I have all the technical issues resolved, so I'm ready to start editing

Great, RebelScumb- I'm glad to hear that there will be a DVD version of this. I HAD read your post stating that the person you sent the tapes to hadn't been returning your emails; it's too bad that it ended like that. Good luck!

thanks man. I got a lot done yesterday. should be all cut together within a few more days. I have to spend the majority of my day cutting together the feature I executive produced this summer. So the fan edit is just a night time project on the side and thus is taking a little longer. But also I want it to be perfect, even last time with the edit there were some parts I thought could be better, and there are few plot points I am trying to smooth out, like I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to eliminate any reference to sifo dyas.

Damn, I was just about done my aotc edit but when I went to rip the deleted scenes from disk 2 it didn't work.

Now this is a pickle.

When you say that they didn't work, do you mean that the video comes out shorter than the audio?

Because I'm having that problem.

I can't even find the files to rip with MTR, it finds some of the titles but not the ones for the deleted scenes. and the files I can rip aren't recongized as valid by Handbrake

ROTS edit is done, AotC edit will be completed as soon as I am able to get the deleted scenes I need captured.

ALso I'm trying to suss out a way to redo the opening crawl. I've tried doing it in finalcut but it looks like crap. I have afterffects but no clue how to use it

If I make a new crawl I will delete the scene in palpatine's office at the beginning and just put in the crawl that the chancellor has assigned Obi and Ani to protect Padme while she is on coruscant. If I have to keep the original crawl then that scene has to stay and I have to go back into one or two other scenes and reinsert dialogue about the military creation act and the seperatist movement, since niether of those are refered to in the current edit. The seperatists, count dooku, and the military creation movement are all things that are revealed through Obi-wan's investigation.

Hi, I just downloaded the edit droid Return of the Jedi and I burned the VIDEO_TS file along with an audio_ts file on Toast on my mac. it burned but there was an error. should i be doing something else here? please let me know- it took me forever to get from myspleen and i really would like to watch it. thanks a lot.
