AVC video decoding problem

I've got a problem with AVC video decoding. Whenever I play an AVCHD format video (and possibly others as well but I'm not sure,) artifacts like this appear for a few frames every now and then (it ranges from once in 10 minutes to every 30 seconds):

The artifacts are not encoded in the video as when I go back and play the same shot again it plays flawlessly.

I have KLM Mega codec pack installed and use Media Player Classic for playback (but the artifacts appear in VLC and WMP as well).

I tried installing a new version of just about everything and it still does this.

Try using CoreAVC w/ MPC-HC

Maybe its a cpu/memory problem causing the hiccup

How do I switch to using CoreAVC? I am of course using MPC-HC, forgot to say that. But I don't think it is a cpu/memory problem, for one it didn't always do it, I've had the computer for 2yrs and it just started doing this a few days ago. And I checked and while playing a 1080p AVCHD in MPC-HC the cpu is at about 15-25% and memory is at 900MB out of 2500...

Well if you have had the computer for 2 years, it might be time to update your codec pack and uninstall the old one

As for CoreAVC, you can google it to find it and then in MPC-HC you can choose the decoder in the options

But its still a good thing to install a new updated pack to rule that out first, then go from there, hope this helps alittle

Well, like I said, I installed a new version of everything, that includes the latest version of the codec pack and MPC-HC...

I once saw something similar on my laptop, again using MPC-HC.

I can't remember exactly how I fixed it - I think I had turned off DXVA for some reason, and turning it back on stopped the artefacts. I've never managed to get my head round the settings you find deep inside MPC-HC.

Oh and ditch the codec packs, they're unnecessary and usually end up causing problems.

Thanks, I ended up doing exactly that yesterday and it does seem to have worked.
