what about video but no sound?
hey guys. I have 6.55gb HD movie on my PC, seems to be encoded as a ".x264" file. i want to burn it to a DVD+DL and watch it on a PS3 or any other blu ray player. The filename has the extention .mkv. MY PC lacks the Horse power to play it without breaking up. Where do I start?

Um... buy the original blu-ray disc?

get TSMuxerGui (google it, it's free). load the mkv into TSMuxergui. select either ts or M2ts as an output. now you need to click on the video stream (should be stream #1)and check its profile level. If it says 5.1 then you need to change the level to 4.1. This doesn't work all the time so your best bet it to use the split & cut feature and output a minute or so of footage that you can test first on the PS3. just stick it on a USB stick or external hard drive. If this works then your good to go. If you get audio and no picture then it has an illegal video stream and would need to be re-encoded. Now you can output your new file. It will only take a few minutes. The file size will be slightly larger than the original but if its only 6.55gb then it will fit on a DL-DVD.
Thanks Ady! Ill try it.
Thanks for hot tip Moth3r, but its not available in Bluray. ;)

Ok, i have a successful .tc file that plays on my ps3 perfectly. a 1 minute sample played from the PS3 hard drive was beautiful. Can I use DVD Decrypter to get it onto DVD+DL? i dont have nero.

To add to this, occasionally I get an error message stating:
"Some tracks not recognized. This tracks was ignored. File name: "C:'Documents and Settings\Desktop\Sword of the Stranger [BluRay, 720p,x264,DTS] - Yoroshiku-THORA.mkv"
What does this error message mean and how will it affect the conversion process?

How would one go about re-encoding the audio and video to correct this issue?
A few other things:
(1) does TSmuxer have any issues with porting over subtitles from an MKV file?
(2) how does your PS3 play TS muxed or m2TS muxed files? I made muxing tests using both those options and neither worked on my PS3. While the machine acknowledged the files, all I get is a black screen when played - no audio nor video.
I've read other forum sites and it looks like a lot of other people are experiencing the same thing. Could the newest PS3 firmware upgrade be causing this?

i've replied about these issues in this thread HERE. Not sure why there is now 3 threads about the same thing now though.
Sorry for the "fishing"... it is that those of us on the forums don't know which message other forum members may be watching, so the reasoning is to post at least 2 or 3 different threads in the hope that someone (like yourself) will at least notice one of them.
I am still wondering if the PS3 system firmware update isn't playing a factor in any of this as well.
Regardless, I appreciate the in-depth response and I will test those suggestions out to see if they work on my machine.
PS: is there a way to create a DVD with menus and such AND have the 720p video? In another question, I was wondering if there was a way to do this and put it into an ISO file, so after download one could use IMGburn to simply burn the ISO to disc and have the best of both worlds (720p image and have a menu with possible extras)
