Sony Vegas Problem please help!

I have footage in MPEG 2 format from my HDD camera that I want to put into Sony Vegas for editing but whenever I add the footage it has no audio. The files do have audio and the audio plays fine in other programs. Does anyone know why this is? I have sony vegas 9.0 and I need to get this footage edited for school.

Can you elaborate on what exactly you are doing with this footage? Also what format the audio is in?


Possibly you dont have a plug-in installed with vegas to handle the audio?

i believe its liba52 format. I'm not sure exactlly how that format works. Is there a codec for this format that you know of?

If I remember correctly....

liba52 is not a audio container but is a codec used in conjunction with ffdshow in order to open other audio files........say possibly ac3

Check you audio file again, try to mux it out efore vegas, Id be suprised if you muxed it out and the file was "sample.liba52"

yeah thats what it is but do you have any idea how to get it to read in vegas?

if your HDD camcorder records using AC3 audio you can't get Vegas to recognise it. you need to demux the audio first and then convert it to wav. i take it your camcorder just has stereo sound, right?

yes it records stereo. The problem with doing that is I have so many clips that it would take forever to do that to all the clips and synic them up to a video.

then import the video to vegas and the audio and sync it up with the delay amount given

would i have to do that with all the video clips?

Sadly, that may be the case.

Another alternative is to drop all the files in Super, which can quickly and easily batch process all the clips for you, even placing the new WAV files into the same directory.

You might want to go the the Sony Vegas forums, and see if there's a work-around or a way to get Vegas to recognize the audio.

What kind of camera do you have?
