Chapters not working in DVDLab

Author
Time
I've been trying to compile a disc for awhile, and for some odd reason it's not doing what I want. All menus work fine, but the movie's chapters don't work, and the chapter selection screen makes the DVD just stop. The chapters look fine in the program, however. I also noticed when I start the main movie (playing on the computer) the time bar fills in the first 5 to 6 seconds, but the movie continues playing.

Any ideas?

I never had problems with chapters not working. I assume you first made chapterpoints in the movie and made scene selection menus automatically. Is it somehow possible the buttons are not linked to the chapterpoints? I mean if you play the movie and want to go to the next chapter using your remote it won't skip to the next chapter or is it just that the scene selection menus aren't working?

Hyde: Fezzy, man, it's Star Wars.

I fixed it by reripping the movie. The mpg was fubar.

Was it the timecode in the MPEG? There's a GOP Timecode re-writer tool built into DVD-lab that comes in handy for me a lot.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Really? Where is it? I'm having trouble with another disc. Different problem, but dealing with the timecode.

At the top, get the dropdown menu for Tools and then select Rewrite GOP Timecode. Don't worry about a test or anything, just run the full process.

Okay... next disc, same problem. However, reripping the video doesn't help. I looked at the bitrate chart, and for some odd reason the color on the chart "restarts" right where the video won't accept new chapters. If I have the video frame indexed, but it won't after that point. Example here:

Is that Tom Petty?

Sorry for asking you that, but do you have a legal copy of DVDLabPro, or a cracked one ?
Also don't you have the total bitrate too high ? The total bitrate should not exceed 9,8 MBps (including video+audio+subtitles)

Program isn't cracked. The video was ripped from a disc made from a VHS/DVD all-in-one combo.

Wait, was it ripped from VHS, or from DVD?

I ripped it directly from the DVD after watching it. I wanted to make sure it played correctly before ripping.

DVDLab could be having some difficulty reading the VOBs due to the way your combo player makes them. The creators made it kind of fussy about the quality of the files you feed it, to ensure better compatibility with other DVD players. Do you have another way that you could capture the video?

Otherwise, you might want to consider re-rendering the VOBs into new MPEGs. It's not the greatest solution, but it's more likely to work.

I *could* do that, but I just skipped those chapter points and compiled the DVD. It's not worth the headache. Most people will watch that part of the concert straight though anyway. LONG LIVE THE SPINAL TAP OMNIBUS VOLUME 6!!!

*LOL*

Usually, that's the case with me as well. I'm just chalking this up as sketchy source material.
