Re Fated-Dualist leaving - https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Random-Thoughts/id/11047/page/787 which I’ve only just seen, oojason leaving before that, and now me too.

I know oojason from the old days on here, and also on another nonSW site. We got talking on there and he persuaded me to come back to this place after a long time away. To take a look around, give him some feedback and ideas for improvements or for content not previously covered. To help point new members in the ‘right direction’ to threads and such (I think he asked other people too, including Fated-Dualist). And we were happy to help, to become active members on here again, and of course also post on Star Wars and hang out on here.

When Jason left and the reasons why, we were a little unnerved, but have continued on here, and even finished up some of his incomplete projects and ideas (with his permission and notes).

Yet what has gone on here is deeply troubling; seeing former members (or people who don’t post much anymore - and I don’t just mean this latest incident with Handman) come back and snipe, make accusations, and kick off at others or try to take a ‘high ground’. It appears some are more interested in point scoring or set on continuing this whole thing on and on. As Fated has said the past, contructing a narrative where they have done nothing wrong, though carry on sniping to throw shade or shit at others who are adjudged to have wronged them, at ‘the other side’ or ‘enemy’.

The hostilitiy, anger and accusations is disturbing, and given what happened to oojason - or to people speaking up for him, the mods, Jay, or the site, and this is also not for me. I don’t want to be associated with that in any way, or be on the end of what Jason has faced. So like Fated-Dualist, it is a good bye from me.

In the wider picture I hope the people taking shots at this forum, and also pop up here when there is drama to fuel, realise it is not going to achieve anything apart from fostering more hate and anger in an environment (not here) where someone seeing all this would take things too far, way way too far (such as along the lines of what happened to Jason). All this wasted energy and effort on being negative and hateful, instead of contributing something positive or working towards reconciling any issues. Or even just ignoring each other if need be. Maybe in time people will realise that, take a step back, have a look at themselves, and what the end game will be if it continues. I hope so, for everyone on here and also on the other websites where this is still an issue, where people are given platforms like this ‘to vent’ at the OT, and also pat each other on the back for telling Jay the OT founder & admin on here to go kill himself, and have ‘big problems’ with the mods here. Or continues to take veiled shots at the OT admin, accuse someone of being a sock despite knowing it cannot be who they claim it is, who shitposts all over the site, moans about the forum ‘declining’, wants ‘to make it great’ again but repeatedly makes image-only & low effort shitposts themselves. All because they they are bored, haven’t the will or courage to just leave or adapt.

A “good riddance” or pithy post, accusations, insults and anger towards me incoming, and expected. Instead of trying to actually make this forum better, or working through the issues some have elsewhere.

TLDR - “This bickering is pointless.”

and to also have a think about the effects on yourselves, others around you and your differing communities, should people are still striving to continue along this divisive and destructive path.

MTFBWY all.

Hello, what have we here? (we have a Lando movie here [maybe]) EDIT: IT'S NOT REAL, I AM AN APRIL FOOL
Time

Well, no Lando movie, or Solo 2, but we do have a Lando series:

“Everyone’s favorite scoundrel Lando Calrissian will return in a brand-new event series for Disney+. Justin Simien, creator of the critically-acclaimed Dear White People and a huge Star Wars fan, is developing the story.”

^ from the ‘Future Lucasfilm Projects Revealed’ article on the official Star Wars website.

And also here at https://twitter.com/starwars/status/1337176099495706624

I hope they get Donald Glover back for this, even maybe Billy Dee in it as well - even if it is just a “did I tell you the time I once went…” cut-to-flashback set of stories. Capes and capers 😃

<strong>Star Wars: Visions</strong> (animated short films) - a general discussion thread - * <strong>SPOILERS</strong> *
Time

“Presenting all-new, creative takes on the galaxy far, far away, Star Wars: Visions will be a series of animated short films celebrating Star Wars through the lens of the world’s best anime creators. The anthology collection will bring 10 fantastic visions from several of the leading Japanese anime studios, offering a fresh and diverse cultural perspective to Star Wars.”

^ from the ‘Future Lucasfilm Projects Revealed’ article on the official Star Wars website.

and also at https://twitter.com/starwars/status/1337175544215965696 & www.starwars.com/series/star-wars-visions

I am really hoping they push the boundaries for this, some high quality and sweeping animation, and differing styles to what we have seen before in the animated Star Wars series we’ve seen so far.

Maybe something along the lines of the quality fan videos like Daz Tibbles animation, the TIE Fighter - short film, Malec’s The Mandalorian as anime, or even better. 😃

This is simply ‘a general discussion thread’ for Star Wars: Visions, if anyone wants to create threads for the individual stories please do.

<strong>Rangers Of The New Republic</strong> (live action series) - general discussion thread (<strong>Cancelled</strong>)
Time

“Set within the timeline of The Mandalorian, this new live-action series from executive producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni will intersect with future stories and culminate into a climactic story event.”

This announcement of the many new Star Wars series had me the most eagerly awaiting for more information. A ‘Texas Rangers’ vibe? Trying to keep in the peace in the Outer Rim, or even core worlds, with potential for crossovers with The Mandalorian and characters from there, and also the other announced series linked above. Oh yes! 😃

Or maybe something else completely? Either way, I am looking forward to hearing more about this series.

A '<strong>Rumour and News</strong>' thread for reported new Star Wars films and tv series
Time

Disney plans to expand the Star Wars universe with 10 shows

https://ew.com/tv/disney-star-wars-universe

'UPDATE: Disney announced Thursday it’s planning a whopping ten Star Wars series over the next few years, along with an equal number of Marvel series.

PREVIOUS: The Star Wars galaxy is about to get far, far bigger.

Disney plans “a significant expansion of the Star Wars universe,” including a “Death Star-size trove of coming content,” according to a New York Times report Wednesday.

The news comes on the eve of Disney’s Investor Day conference, a four-hour event that’s expected to include major programming revelations on Thursday afternoon.

On the Star Wars front, there are many headline possibilities.

A third season of The Mandalorian is a given, but not yet announced.

There is sure to be an update on the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series, which has Ewan McGregor reprising his iconic Jedi Master role. The project will reportedly air as a six-episode limited series rather than as an ongoing story. The project is set eight years after Revenge of the Sith (and before the events in A New Hope). Filming has been expected to begin in the next few months, so potential casting news, a title, or other details seems likely.

The Cassian Andor series is also overdue for an update. The prequel project has Diego Luna reprising his Rogue One role as a Rebel spy. Alan Tudyk has also been confirmed as reprising his role as the droid K-2SO. Luna recently suggested the project has begun quietly filming in London.

There’s also a female-centric series in the works from Russian Doll co-creator Leslye Headland that reportedly is set in a rather different timeline than we’ve seen before in other Star Wars projects.

Recently there have also been rumors of a Boba Fett series now that Jango Fett actor Temuera Morrison has returned to the Star Wars universe on The Mandalorian.

There’s also another animated series in the works, The Bad Batch, which is set after the events in The Clone Wars.

Yet the most exciting announcement will probably not be an update on these existing reports, but rather something entirely new. One area of particular interest is what’s next for the franchise in terms of theatrical films in the wake of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Or perhaps Disney will completely shift its Star Wars interests to the small screen to bolster Disney+, which has racked up a most impressive 74 million subscribers since launching just over a year ago.’

If the article is correct I wonder what the other 5 Star Wars series will be?

  1. Cassian Andor
  2. Obi Wan
  3. The Bad Batch
  4. a series by Leslye Headland
  5. Boba Fett (rumours)

A Rebels animated sequel? Lando? Ahsoka? Cara Dune? Something hopefully set in a new time and part of the GFFA?

No word on any of the announced new films though 😦

Edit: The official Star Wars website has this article covering some of the new content announced today:

Future Lucasfilm Projects Revealed’ - https://www.starwars.com/news/future-lucasfilm-projects-revealed

Help: looking for... Original Trilogy and other fan preservations
Time

There is information on how to obtain some of the projects on here (and other useful information) in these threads:

(simply copied and pasted from many other threads helping new members with questions and information about projects on here)

Welcome to the OriginalTrilogy.com; Introduce yourself in here + useful info within

‘How do I do this?’ on the OriginalTrilogy.com

I have found a Fan Edit / Preservation I am interested in - but don’t know how to get / acquire / download it?

About : Help : OT.com Forum Rules and Guidelines : Fan Edit / Preservation Forum Rules and FAQ

The ‘Index & Help’ threads pinned in each of the four ‘Fan Project’ forums:-

An Index Of Projects & Help Thread for Star Wars Preservations…

An Index Of Projects & Help Thread for Star Wars Fan Edits and Other Projects…

An Index Of Projects & Help Thread for Preservation of Other Properties…

An Index Of Projects & Help Thread for Fan Edits & Projects for Other Properties…

are particularly useful.

Information and answers can be found in many of the individual project threads themselves - different projects have different ways of being acquired; sometimes the information is in the opening post, for other projects it may be located later in the project thread.

A few projects have their own Some info & help for ‘Project X’ (and more)… threads in the General Assistance section.

The How-To’s and Technical Discussions forum is a good for any technical questions, and also for some alternative ways (and guides) of acquiring projects.

Some of the more ‘popular’ or well known projects may also be available on torrent sites, streaming sites, download sites, or have links to them on other websites such as reddit, You Tube, twitter, Discord and other social media sites.

There won’t be any links to projects found on this site for obvious reasons (and as explained in some of the links above).

Good luck with finding and acquiring what you are after 👍

<strong>Return Of The Jedi</strong> - a general <strong>Random Thoughts</strong> thread
Time

I saw this thread on twitter referring to the Return Of The Jedi’s ‘Black Friday(November 22nd, 1982):

https://twitter.com/agraphafx/status/1334930894017085441 (a 10-part thread)

Mod Edit: a screenshot of the above twitter thread can be found here - https://i.imgur.com/cijUqU5.png

Two articles linked in the above twitter thread (referring to Rinzler’s ‘Making Of’ ROTJ book):

George Lucas Scrapped ROTJ Effects Shots - at Star Wars Underworld (in 2012)

Ewok Orgies and Nine other things a new book reveals about ROTJ - Number 8; Insane Lunatic Maniacs (ILM) - at MTV (in 2013)

^ from the article: ‘“‘Jedi’ almost killed everybody, every department,” admits Lucas.’

It seems amazing to me that this isn’t talked about more. All that work, time, money and effort to be thrown out and to never see the light of day.

Even the skilled technicians, modelmakers and artists that were involved these scenes don’t seem to talk about them? Maybe it is too painful still, or perhaps just been forgotten after the hangovers?

Is there more information? Or a thread on here about these scenes?

'2021 marks the 50th anniversary of Lucasfilm. The celebration will kick off with commemorative, fan-favorite 50th anniversary Star Wars products. The launch starts in January and will continue throughout the year with special edition product releases.

Across the Company, Lucasfilm has won 29 Emmy Awards, 38 Academy Awards, 32 Sci-Tech Awards, 18 Webby Awards, and 12 awards for ILMxLAB’s groundbreaking work in immersive entertainment. Lucasfilm Publishing has had over 180 books on the New York Times Bestseller List and has won a multitude of awards, including the 2020 GLAAD Award for Outstanding Comic Book. The Company’s impact on filmmaking, entertainment, experiences, and global culture is unmistakable. Stay tuned to Lucasfilm.com as we celebrate the history of Lucasfilm as well as our current projects throughout the year.’

Seems like an excuse to sell more tat?

Unless they are going to give the option of buying the classic versions of the Original Trilogy on a modern digital format? 😉

But probably just selling more tat!

There are a few threads about it on here, in the ‘Characters & Actors’ section of the OT Index, and oojason covered some of it in his George Lucas: Unreliable Narrator & Time Travelling Revisionist… thread.

There is also a ton of information online, though much of it without the journalist in question admitting it was NOT David Prowse who was leaking information on the film to him.

The 2015 ‘I Am Your Father’ documentary is very much worth a viewing for more information too 👍

Possible 'proof' that Greedo was always meant to shoot
Time

You’d think given the amount of times George has changed the scene, and his evolving & disproved claims about it, that he somehow cut his losses instead of further digging himself into an increasingly deeper hole? And just stop. Or apologise?

Or people who want to curry favour with George, or come up with strange new claims in an attempt to somehow ‘back up’ or give credibility George’s evolving and bizarre statements, would at least do some rudimentary fact checking first. Though, maybe not! 😃

A couple of discerning and informative articles on the whole Greedo debacle on the ‘Star Wars Visual Comparisons’ blog:

An Index of some OT•com threads from in the ‘How-To’s and Technical Discussions’ forum

This is simply an attempt at an index for the numerous OT•com threads about all things ‘How-To’s & Technical’. 😃

oojason had started work on compiling another round of various ‘OT•com Archiving’ projects shortly before he left the site. Thanks to oojason for allowing me to finish another of his projects, and also to Fated-Dualist for asking ooj’s permission and forwarding me on the files and ideas, I’ve been able to continue that work and have now completed this thread (I think!).

Hopefully this Index will be of some use, interest and help for finding relevant Technical Discussion & Information threads. To both showcase and archive the knowledge, help and information (not to mention the resoluteness, kindness and dedication) of the OT•com members on here…

The Main Categories:-

• Guides and How-To’s
• Hardware & Software Recommendations / Requests…
• Popular Questions & Topics - General : Ripping / Capturing : Audio : Video : Editing : Authoring / Burning : Differing Formats
• Other useful threads around the OT•com and also ‘Technical Assistance’ sections on OT•com’s sister-sites

Some threads may contain information which are applicable to more than just the one category listed here in this Index.

OT•com threads can also be searched for by using your online search engine of choice. Information on how to do this can be found in the - ‘How do I do this?’ on the OriginalTrilogy.com thread.

As ever, if you see any errors or mistakes - or know of any more threads for inclusion, please post them below - thank you.
