Oojasons signature is too tall now with the new moderators badge styling.

It has been changed mate - a quick refresh should do the trick 😃

still looks crazy tall on mobile

It does a bit - when we raise funds for poita’s OOT project then I’ll remove that part of the sig 😉

(Honestly - sorry about that mate. Perhaps a request for a ‘No Signature’ option for mobiles could be made to Jay?)

Politics 2: Electric Boogaloo

Switchblades (or flick-knives as they are more referred to over here) have been outlawed over here for a long while now - since I was a kid, I think.

And parts of the UK does seem to be undergoing some sort of knife-carrying trend at the moment - especially amongst teenagers.

https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-britain-crime-murder/london-murder-rate-overtakes-new-york-as-knife-crime-rises-idUKKCN1HA1DD

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/apr/05/how-does-londons-spate-of-killings-compare-with-other-cities

Tradesmen (or women) - or anyone with a good reason to be carrying a knife or blade (butcher, chef, carpenter, fisherman, even an IT engineer - got to cut those cables! etc) will be okay to go about their usual business.

Some overzealous copper may make things a little awkward - though common sense usually prevails on these things - especially when a more experienced officer or Sgt becomes involved.

On occasion when I’ve been asked about what I’m carrying in my IT bag it’s more a case of ‘be careful it doesn’t get nicked’ - or that ‘any blades are hidden away from kids or prying eyes’ or ‘wrap it up so you don’t cut yourself’ etc.

Whether these changes will make a difference? I don’t know - likely not for some already on a wrong path. I hope it does make a difference - and at least it seems to be a genuine attempt to curtail it, though it would be welcome if the Govt actually addressed the causes and issues surrounding this.

Jay made a few tweaks last night whilst doing some forum maintenance and updates etc 😃

More info can be found here, in the Announcements Section - http://originaltrilogy.com/announcement/Forum-maintenance-scheduled-this-Sunday/id/60049

If you check the ‘Your Account’ section you now have the option of choosing between the Dark and the Light as a background setting 😉

^ warned for not providing a source 😉

I do try and credit pics or sources of articles when I can - though sometimes this eludes me as I’m often doing a few things at once, or just plain forget.

If in doubt as to where you can find the source of a photo / picture etc online… open up https://images.google.com/ and drag the picture onto the search bar and google usually finds it - or similar pieces of art etc.

(and most of my stuff comes in this thread from imgur - that’s https://imgur.com/ by the way 😉)

custom made laserdisc/vinyl covers for blu-rays/DVDs
Time

Sweet info & links ^…^ - nice one 😃

I’ve add this thread to the Index Thread pinned at the top of this section.

WilliaRob’s ‘Disney brings back laserdisc sized packaging’ thread may also be of interest for anyone wishing to do something similar.

It’d be interesting to find out how much a local independent printer would charge for something like this (and to benefit from their expertise and know-how too etc)

Jedit: these may look pretty neat as a base/template/ideas for some Star Wars laserdisc/vinyl-sized covers…

each individual cover can be downloaded from the link above - and the logos too, from here - http://sta.sh/21t4w7l26l54

Some quality work by anakin022 over at deviantart (has Rogue One & TLJ covers too)

Last web series/tv show seen

There were a couple of clinkers in there 😉 though I did enjoy the more character-based stories - a little more believably as to their decisions/actions - though it did result in playing it safe story-wise for a couple of episodes.

I do wonder if it’s to do more with how PKD’s stories have become staples over the years - with lots of homages paid to them in other sci-fi stories - which then dilute PKD’s efforts themselves…

I enjoyed the last season of Black Mirror - but hope Brooker takes a few more chances in the next season - to mix things up and give a little more uncertainty (maybe more shock/surprise value?) - some episodes did feel a bit ‘samey’ as to what had come before.
