Do you hate atheists and theists equally?
;-) <---winky
I love 'em both. They obviously taste different, though; one's salty and crunchy, the other sweet and sour.
How long have you been Agnostic, why not go fully decided?
J
Are you an Objectivist? Your post on just versus unjust universe, combined with the fact you're agnostic, hints at that.

I came to the realization I was agnostic late in 2008 after spending almost four years doubting my religious beliefs.
As for why I haven't gone "fully decided", it's because I can plainly see that mankind's current knowledge on reality is incomplete and finite at best, so it would be far too presumptuous for me to assume that something as complex as a transcendant deity doesn't exist.

I consider myself more of an absurdist, actually, with some Gnostic leanings.
I suppose I really only became atheist in the past couple of years, before then for about 10 years I was probably agnostic, still hanging on in fear,....just in case.
It was funny at that time I still always felt I was being watched by God, amazing how that was drummed into my brain from childhood.
Now everything I see on TV and on film that makes references to religion as a fact looks so dated (e.g. Star Trek the Wrath of Khan),....like they haven't caught up, it's like I had a moment of clariity and everything made sense

*shrug* If it floats your boat, the more power to you. I personally can't see eye-to-eye with that perspective. Truth be told, I find belief in a God or gods not only admirable, but beautiful.
Bumpity bump-bump.
What might be considered the first step that may have led you on the path to agnosticism?

I guess my first step was when I started to doubt the gap creationism I was raised to believe and started taking the evidence for evolution seriously.
Evolution wasn't the deciding factor that led to my agnosticism, however; various other conflicts between my theology and reality caused me to lose my faith.
Do you currently hold a belief in something metaphysical? Maybe not a god but something more elusive, like ''aware energy'' a ''conscious force''?

Not really, no. On a subconscious level, I think I still believe in a God, but on a conscious level, I have nothing but doubts pertaining to any and everything supernatural.

How do you cope with that? I know you don't control the subconscious level but you are aware of an internal struggle so... I assume that there must be a lot of questions in your head

I don't see my subconscious theism as a problem, so I just go with the flow.
To what faith did you originally subscribe?

Suffice it to say, if I'd been raised in a less dogmatic, pseudohistorical faith, I may never have slipped into agnosticism.
This is interesting, thank you.
Seemingly you approve of religion even if you, yourself cannot actively partake. Does this cause difficulties with any family members? Are they aware of your current position?

Since my parents are incapable of understanding any religious perspective that isn't their own, I'm forced to remain a closeted agnostic.
This must prove difficult. Does this force you to partake in their services or are you free to avoid such?

There aren't any real services. Perhaps if there was a local congregation of like-minded individuals nearby, it'd be another story, but there aren't any. As it is, they're just content to watch the cult's fear-mongering TV program and complain about people who eat pork.
It would appear that you have no misgivings over the religiosity of others. If this is an accurate assessment, why might this be so?
