Just a quick question for the Texans on the board. I heard that every year in school you learn the history of the Alamo. Is that true? Do you have it as a state requirement to learn about Texas history? I'm curious about this, because I've heard you do.

AND, if so, what is the historical accuracy of the new film, The Alamo?

TO BE MORE ACCURATE IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL AND SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL YOU ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE ONE YEAR OF TEXAS HISTORY. IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WE LEARNED ABOUT IT EVERY YEAR IN THE GENERIC HISTORY CLASS.

THE MOVIE WAS DAMN NEAR ACCURATE. I HAVE TO TELL YOU THAT IT'S VERY HARD FOR ME TO WATCH THE MOVIE NOT BECAUSE I'M FROM TEXAS, BUT BECAUSE I'M RELATED TO DAVID CROCKETT.

By "damn near accurate," what have they exaggerated, added to, or excluded in the film?

Also, why is your relation to David a hinderance? Is it not enjoyable to see your history?

NOT NEARLY AS MUCH BRUTALITY IN THE FILM AS THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN HAD RON HOWARD NOT BEEN FIRED. DC WAS A GREAT, GREAT, GREAT UNCLE ON MY FATHER'S MOTHER'S SIDE OF THE FAMILY. PUT IT THIS WAY THE MOVIE MAKES ME WANT TO HUNT DOWN SANTA ANNA'S ENTIRE FAMILY LINE AND WIPE THEM OFF THE PLANET.

I am in a college US History class & my teacher knows his $h!t But, he did not know how accurate this version of the story was, so he told us the story with his own version -- a mixtuere of many books he has read. Two last questions, so I can tell him: was Crockett actually run through like he was as pictured in the film? Also, was Bowie infected w/ TB?

YES, AND YES. HOWEVER, THERE WERE A FEW OTHER SOLDIERS THAT WERE CAPTURED WITH CROCKETT THAT WERE EXECUTED BEFORE HE WAS WHICH WASN'T SHOWN IN THE FILM.

lol, even I knew about Alamo years before the flick... but I don't want to divert to a subject "how US history affects pop-culture"

There was once a computer wargame about the siege...

I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...
How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...
