jsut checking of we got anymore hockey fans here, the league is going nuts the old powerhouses (The aves, the Wings, the Leafs) are falling apart and we are finally getting an even distribution of talent across the league. lets here what you guys think, there is a hure free agent grab going on and hte rules have been changed, i.e. no more ties there is a shoot out, and no more redline/ two line pass.

MY DALLAS STARS ALMOST LOST MIKE MADANO. BOSTON HAD JUST ABOUT SIGNED HIM WHEN WE MADE HIM AN OFFER HE COULDN'T REFUSE. HE'S THE HEARTAND SOUL OF THE TEAM. IF WE WERE TO LOSE HIM WE MIGHT AS WELL HANG UP OUR SKATES. LUCKILY WE HAVE HIM FOR THE NEXT FIVE SEASONS.

I've been an Avs fan since they moved from Quebec. It's hard to see some of the great players like Forsberg and Kariya leave, but I'm actually more excited to see that they've managed to restructure the players' salaries and make the league more competetive.

I'm also excited about the new rules. Seeing shootouts again is going to be awesome -- especially in the playoffs! Can you imagine the Stanley Cup Finals next June coming down to a shootout in game 7?

More than anything, I'll just be happy to see some damn pro hockey games again. My two main sports are football and hockey, and I've been going crazy ever since February without hockey around.

Don't know much about Brad May other than he was on the Canucks last season. Could be a decent addition along with Turgeon after Forsberg's departure (sniff).

Aw man, that's no fun. I thought they would at least have a shootout if there was no winner after OT. They'll have to reevaluate that after this season I think. At least shootouts in the regular season will be cool to watch.

well i am a huge vancouver fan, and May was one of the key players involved in the whole bertuzzi incident. may was the one who was reported to have said that they were going to get moore.

could someone please tell me exactly what the rules that they are using this season for overtime are? For both regular season and playoffs?

ok what they did is they wanted to get rid of ties in the regular season so now what you get is if the game is tied after the 3 peroid teams play 5 mins of 4 vs 4 OT, if the game is still tied after that you get a 3 man shootout.

the playoffs are the same as b4 you get 20 mins 5 vs 5 OT periods until the game is over.

LET'S GO DEVILS!

Woo, good to be back. Gonna be hard losing Neidermeyer. Why'd he have to go play with his brother for. WTF. Play for a winning team.

Anyway, let's hope the tix are cheaper now for the games...I know its gonna be a bit more exciting. No more 2 line passes, no touchup offsides. Thank god.

hahahaha hey maddog i dont know how big of a hocky fan you are but the rule changes they arent good news for the devils. the devils have always been successful cause they had brodeur and played a trap style. the new rules are designed to kill the trap.

but yeah i know how you feel why couldnt neidymer come back home and play in van.

but yeah phili is going to be awesome this year, what with forsberge and eche man watch out they are going to rule there division i think.

the devils are going to be severely suffering but will pull through cause of broduer, and the stars are lookin good with turco and madono back they going to be pretty good as well.

well they are one team that i fear in the west. them and the sharks are the only realy teams i fear from your division, and in the conference the rest of the are in my division, ie calagry, edmonton, colorado.

Yeah, I hated the trap. My team did it...actually, a lot of teams starting doing it after the Devs were successful with it.

Sure the NHL removes the trap, but hopefully Brodeur will come up big. And their minor league team has brought up some great players, let's hope they keep it up without use of the trap. Unlike the Rangers. Haha. They're so old.
