The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant (Released)

I agree: the video game shot doesn’t work but only because it’s beyond our reach. I appreciate all the R&D to pursue possibilities, even if the result is to choose to forego it from an informed place.

Exactly this, considering what was available to work with, the results are very impressive.

But unfortunately, it still sticks out like a sore thumb, to me at least.

So, consider me a BIG FAN of this idea! 😄

YAY! I said something of worth! 😄

An interesting thought, but the problem is that it removes Bruce staring furiously at Superman above, which I think is an essential moment.
That all being said, I was actually trying to go with the idea that the girl may have died for the version of the edit currently circulating (the large metal beam cuts off the Metropolis sequence in the beginning and then the conversation with the girl only is in the dream). Because we only see the girl saved in Bruce’s dream, it was ambiguous whether or not he managed to save her in real life. All that is clear, being a dream, is that Bruce clearly hates Superman.

The more I think about it, the more sense it makes to keep the girl alive, I just liked the idea of having something aburpt and violent wake Bruce up since he basically jumps out of his chair when he wakes up in that scene. But having him stare angrily at Superman and having the girl point at where her mother once was does much more for his Super-Hate (see what I did there?).

Short version of post, girl dying means ruder awakening, girl living means more Super-Hate. Logic (by logic, I mean my opinion) dictates that more Super-hate is better for the story.

But it’s your edit and I trust your judgement since I really liked this edit, which I forgot to mention in my previous post, lifes been kinda crazy lately, but when I get the time I’ll watch the edit with a pencil and paper at my side for notes so that I can give you a detailed review since honestly, you deserve no less. Good Luck! 😄

Also, part of me feels this film may benefit greatly from introducing Bruce Wayne at the LexCorp event, but I also feel his POV of the Metropolis destruction is integral to his motivations for hating superman so much. Also I don’t know if that would work well or not. I would like to see it if anyone could pull it off though. I think this film suffers from switching back and forth between Batman/Bruce’s story and Superman/Clark’s. If it were focused more on Superman I think it would help the pacing a lot.

You’ve given me an idea (that I hope Aluminum will consider since I have NO editing skill), what if instead of showing the last part of Bruce in Metropolis saving the girl as the nightmare, we’re left wondering why Bruce hates Superman up until he has that whole opening sequence as a PTSD nightmare.

Another idea we could add to this is instead of having him save the little girl, we see the large metal thing (don’t remember what it’s called) coming towards the screen and that being what abrubtly wakes Bruce up from the nightmare, with the implication being that the little girl was killed in front of him, which gives him even MORE hate towards Superman.

So, what do you guys think?

One of our original ideas was a “soundtrack” based off of the story, with the new character themes and cues for the battles and chases and pivotal scenes. We were going to have artwork for some of the tracks. I like the idea of having the art and sound more interactive. And if the artwork idea is something you really like, that could have more emphasis.

The soundtrack idea sounds amazing, it could become a companion to the novels by being something you listen to while reading them. Matching the music to to what’s happening in the book could be difficult since obviously everyone reads at a different pace but I’m sure some scientist somewhere has spent too much money to find out what the average reading speed is. 😄

Fan edit visual and audio transition help
Time

Hello, I made a fan edit of Return of The Jedi using Harmy’s Despecialized Edition as the source, all the cuts are done, but I have no idea how to do visual and audio transitions, this makes the cuts incredibly JARRING, I would really appreciate it if someone would help me with this, doing them or just giving me tips on how to do these. Thank you very much for help. 😄

P.S. Someone also mentioned something to me about “color correction”, frankly, I don’t even know what that is. Sorry for newbie knowledge. 😦

<strong>Despecialized Editions</strong> by Harmy : Index of 'How-To's &amp; Help' Threads | Index of 'General Despecialized Threads' | ‘Where are they? And how do I get them?’ mega-merge thread...
Time

Moderator Edit - and quite a big one at that…

This will hopefully serve as a centralised ‘Info & Help’ thread for all things Despecialized Edition - in three main sections…

  1. An Index of ‘How-To & Help’ threads re Despecialized in the How-To’s & Technical Discussions section of the site.

  2. An Index of ‘General Despecialized Edition’ threads from in the ‘Star Wars Preservation’ section of the site.

  3. The ‘Where are the Despecialized Editions? And how do I download them?’ requests thread Mega-Merge section.

1: Anyone who does require some help on the technical side of things re the Despecialized Editions please read through the Index below, as well as the more generic threads in the ‘How-To’s and Technical Discussions’ section, to see if others here have previously experienced the same or similar issues - before making a new thread asking for assistance.

Technical and assistance threads for the Despecialized Editions remain untouched and scattered throughout the first 25 pages of the ‘How-To’s and Technical Discussions’ section.

2: Many answers to questions can also be found in the three main ‘Despecialized Edition’ threads - found in the ‘Star Wars Preservation’ section of the site. There is also a useful Despecialized Edition: Quality Control Thread - Report Issues Here thread - along with some other general Despecialized threads from that section also indexed below.

3: The ‘Where are the Despecialized Editions? And how do I download them?’ Mega-Merge section is a list of the 40 or so individual threads made on the site over the years - all asking the same two things - as the title suggests.

All of the posts contained in this section of the thread are discussion posts from every one of those various ‘Where are they? How Do I get them?’ threads; all merged into this one centralised place - for ease of use and information - as well as ‘de-cluttering’ the site of all these many repeated / similar threads.

Introducing the Despecialized Edition and Its Sources’:-

The blurb: ‘Star Wars: Despecialized Edition is a fan edit project with the goal to reconstruct the original theatrical releases of the Star Wars original trilogy at a quality comparable to the high-definition medium of our time.’

HanDuet’s The Ultimate Introductory Guide to Harmy’s Star Wars Trilogy Despecialized Editions - in the 1st post in each of the Star Wars threads linked above… will likely be particularly helpful. All credit to HanDuet for making a great, easy-to-follow and useful guide.

The three main Despecialized Edition threads on the OT•com, by Harmy himself - where information is in abundance, along with the history and process of the project is also contained, and many many questions having been already answered:-

Star Wars - v2.7 is the latest version

Empire Strikes Back - v2.0 is the latest version

Return Of The Jedi - v2.5 is the latest version

towne32 also had a thread here for his quality work on Harmy’s Despecialized Edition version of Star Wars (fully endorsed by Harmy himself):-

Harmy’s Despecialized Star Wars 1977 - Color Adjustment Project for v2.7 (released)

These two threads also contain a lot of useful info on a custom set of Harmy’s Despecialized Editions:-

NJVC Custom Bluray Set of Harmy’s Despecialized Editions now available on Mega - by the generous and ever-helpful Solkap

Harmy also has some useful and informative social media channels, here - Facebook : Youtube : Twitter : Instagram : Patreon

For anyone still struggling to find the Despecialized Editions - and how to obtain them, the thread below is well worth a read…

A useful signpost thread for all things ‘Despecialized Edition’ can be found here:-

A little patience and effort can go a long way on here…

Harmy has a video on his Despecialized youtube channel - just to remind everyone that Fan Edits must never be bought or sold:-

Much of which contain insults, profanities and self-entitlement - along with some imaginative and highly descriptive abuse too. It also features many people who didn’t bother / were too lazy (or important) to read the first post by Harmy in any of his three main Despecialized threads - and instead simply made yet more new threads asking about how to get them.

Hello,

I was watching unboxings for the XXX’s distributed copies of the Despecialized Editions but after some research, I’ve deemed them too controversial to consider.
I want blu ray copies of the Despecialized Editions, however, but heard it’s way more expensive.

What resources do you recommend for making my own blu ray copy of the Despecialized Editions myself?

EDIT: Please don’t say the Harmy quote, I know what he said about distrubution or selling of movies and I’ve read it a million times. Hope I don’t sound too rude. Thank you!

I just signed up on this site, and I’m very confused about how to get a download of all three DEEDs of the original trilogy, specifically the custom blu-ray set with all of the extra content like documentaries, deleted scenes, etc. I already have a bought copy of the regular retail Star Wars trilogy to qualify for this, but even after reading the introduction, I’m still unsure as to what to do next to show that I am eligible to download/torrent this.

Hey there,
New to the Forum, thanks for letting me in!
I’m wondering if anyone has a version of the original trilogy without, un-remastered etc, that they could share with me. I have been dying for years to see them, and want to know if the original Ewok celebration song is really as wonderful as I remember it.
Thanks so much!

Edit my moderator : The original title of your thread - ‘FUCKKKK!!! HELP!!’ - isn’t likely to get you much help on this site.

Take the time and enjoy having a look around the site and you’ll soon find what you are looking for - as well as details on how to acquire it - for free.

Just to be clear - We do NOT sell Harmy’s Despecialized Editions.

Hi Star Wars Fans

Firstly, I am over the moon for the Despecialized Editions, a huge thanks must be extended to Harmy and his team.
Apologies if I sound like a noob, but I was wondering:

Is it “okay” to torrent the Despecialized Editions rather than download the long way? (Granted that I own the original trilogy on DVD)

I’ve been a fan of Star Wars for years, and so has my significant other, and we both love Harmy’s despecialized editions. We saw a post on the fan edit site:
http://www.fanedit.org/featured-restoration-star-wars-trilogy-despecialized-editions/
And it shows menu screens and all that really cool stuff. We’re curious on how do we download the trilogy with the menus, then how do we burn it onto a blu-ray disk so we can put it in our blu-ray player and have all the menus to choose from.
Sorry if this is an easy thing to do and I’m just being dumb! I’m tech savvy, but not when it comes to burning stuff on dvd/blu-ray
Thanks!

For the longest time now, I’ve been trying to get the Star Wars Despecialized Edition trilogy by Harmy, but so far, none of the recommended ways have worked for me. I found out that MySpleen isn’t doing invites to get them anymore, and I don’t trust any torrent sites to download them. (I don’t want to risk malware or any other problems like that.) So my question is, how exactly do I get the Despecialized Editions now? I’ve been searching for a long time now, and I’ve tried just about everything, but so far I haven’t had any success. At this point, all I need is the files. I can handle burning them onto discs myself once I find them, but no matter what I do, I just can’t get them anywhere, at least not with any safety. What do I do?

  1. Trying to use “The Ultimate Introductory Guide” walkthrough for acquiring these versions, but the jdownloader program is saying that none of the files can be found online. Any quick suggestions?
  2. In the meantime, I have downloaded multiple torrents. At the end of New Hope, I can see “v2.5” but I don’t see a version number at the end of the other 2; any clue as to telling whether I’m watching the correct (most recent) versions?
  3. One thing I have not been able to ascertain from any of the info around here is this: My understanding is that there are 3 versions of the files, from TUIG:
MKV (.mkv) - the full, complete release with all features
AVCHD (.iso, BDMV folder) - full video with limited extras formatted for Blu-ray Disk
NTSC DVD5 (VIDEO_TS folder) - compromised features to fit project on a DVD

Ok. But are there any actual differences in quality between these? Let’s say I play the MKV on my TV hooked up to my computer VS. burning the NTSC DVD file to a DVD and watching it on a physical dvd/blu-ray player. Any actual difference in quality between these two methods? (I assume I would use the original soundtrack in all cases).

Thanks.

I would like to see the theatrical version of these movies, but why is it so difficult to download the files? I don’t want to go wading through the trash of the internet and risk viruses, malware, and whatever nasty trap that some genius setup to get on my machine. I tire of such things. Is there an easier way than some iffy torrent?

Hello all,

I need your help. I have acquired the Star Wars Despecialized editions online. I have the rar files for all 3 including the Grindhouse Version of Ep.6. I converted them to mkv files. and it seems I’m at a stand still.

My question is; what is the best program, the best way, to convert them to a file that will eventually be burned on a Blu-ray disc? Which file type is best? What converter will get me the best resolution/image? Do they cost money or are they free?

I’m not too technical savvy, but truly any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Ps: I love that this site exists and that we can all come together over our shared loved of Star Wars.

Hello everyone. I wondering if anyone could help me with this. I’m very interested in watching the Harmy Despecialized Editions, as I’ve never seen the original versions of each film. But I can’t download them on my software and I won’t buy from scumbag sellers making money off Harmy’s work and hurting the project. I know there’s probably not, but is there any other way to watch these?

Also, a side note. I think more needs to be done about the despecialized blu rays being sold. I had to stop someone today from buying one, and since the project can be shut down because of this, we need to do something about it. Thoughts?

Hi,

I’m looking for the 35mm print transfer (I think done by team negative) that was done a couple of years ago and Harmy’s V2.7 of star wars.

Am really sorry for posting this here but I can’t find them anywhere and really need to entertain myself during this lockdown.

Could anyone point me in the right direction please?

Many thanks.

I own multiple versions of the DVD and Bluray releases, but really want to see it without all the extra added effects.

I read I can get some download links to some of the original theatrical releases at forums.thestarwarstrilogy.com but I need some sort of referral code.

Ive looked into the google docs post on instructions to get Harmy’s but I really don’t want to get into usenet or torrents. I was hoping to find a more simple secure way of obtaining the files. Looks like that doesn’t seem to be available ???

Thanks for any comments.

I’ve got the 2004 Special Editions which have the GOUT bonus discs, and I’ve seen the Puggo Grande 16mm transfer, but I’ve never gotten the chance to check out the despecialized edition of the OT. I can only find torrent files, but I don’t want to have to download a torrent player. Would anyone be able to point me to where I can find MP4 files of these edits? Thanks in advance.
