I have my problems with TLJ but I hope Johnson gets his trilogy. In retrospect TLJ was the only film in the ST that had a backbone and a clear vision. I’m sure if you give him a clean slate he could come up with something incredible, he likes to decunstruct stories so I’d expect something along the lines of KOTOR 2 theme wise.

Star Wars Series From ‘Russian Doll’ Co-Creator Leslye Headland in the Works at Disney Plus’:-

A snippet from the Variety article:-

“Details of the exact plot of the series are being kept under wraps, but sources say it will be a female-centric series that takes place in a different part of the “Star Wars” timeline than other projects. Headland is said to be attached to write and serve as showrunner on the series, with the show currently staffing.”

^ seems like it could be a live-action Ahsoka-based series, maybe Doctor Aphra, or even Enfys Nest? I suppose it depends on just far from the ‘takes place in a different part of the SW timeline than other projects’ they go with. It would certainly be intriguing to see something fresh and new too…

Confirmation of a new Star Wars theatrical film announced - directed by Taika Waititi…

Academy Award Winner Taika Waititi to direct and co-write new Star Wars feature film for theatrical release; Oascar Nominee Krysty Wilson-Cairns to co-write Screenplay with Waititi’:-

https://www.starwars.com/news/taika-waititi-announce

"Academy Award winner Taika Waititi, who recently won Best Adapted Screenplay for Jojo Rabbit and directed the widely-acclaimed first season finale episode of The Mandalorian on Disney+, will direct and co-write a new Star Wars feature film for theatrical release.

Joining Waititi on the screenplay will be Academy Award® nominee Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917, Last Night in Soho), who received a BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Film of the Year on the three-time Oscar-winning film, 1917.

In addition, Emmy®-nominated writer Leslye Headland (Russian Doll, Bachelorette) is currently developing a new untitled Star Wars series for Disney+. Headland will write, executive produce, and serve as showrunner for the series, which adds to a growing list of Star Wars stories for Disney’s streaming platform including The Mandalorian, now in post-production on Season Two, and two other previously announced series: one based on Cassian Andor’s life prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and another following the adventures of Obi-Wan Kenobi between Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope.

Release dates for both Waititi’s and Headland’s projects have not yet been announced."

Man, I would love it if Leslye Headland was working on a series that included Enfys Nest, particularly if they could get Erin Kellyman to reprise the role. Considering what a mess the Solo film was, I suspect we may never see her again otherwise. She’s the only reason I ever watch it and I skip/FF through most of it just to watch her scenes and a few others.

Waititi doing anything for them is almost certainly a win. Both of these are good news and a sign that Disney may focusing on moving Star Wars to the small screen. No complaints here.

'Star Wars: Comedian Paul Scheer Details His “After Darth” Talk Show That Disney Scrapped’:

https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/star-wars-paul-scheer-talk-show-after-darth-details-cancelled

Paul goes on to infer the show will likely never see the light of day, though there were 8 episodes filmed…

A snippet from the article:

“We got to create whatever we wanted and the cool thing was, because Disney was behind it, we got to use all the things that you could never use in life,” the comedian admitted. “Like, we could have the full Darth Vader costumes, full recreation of the Millennium Falcon, using the sound effects, using the video footage. We got to really create something that was very much in canon of Star Wars. Which, you know, is so rare to use music and video clips and stuff like that, and we got access to all of it, and then, like I said, it never aired. But there are eight episodes of it.”

He continued, “Maybe it’s for the best, I don’t know. All I’ll say is, for as much as I enjoyed it, I would imagine it would also make people incredibly upset. It definitely was not taking Star Wars seriously, at all.”

Sounds kinda fun - a lighthearted Star Wars ‘talk show’? Why the hell not? 😃 And kind of a shame that it won’t happen.

Fun and Star Wars are two things in short supply in the fandom for a few years now.

Where negatviity, monetised hate and toxicity is all the rage (pun inteneded) 😉

Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge - Trailer’:-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynDMTiamRRY - at the official ‘Star Wars Kids’ youtube channel. (2 mins)

'Star Wars Jedi Challenge to debut on June 3rd, on Star Wars Kids’:-

https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-jedi-temple-challenge-premiere

'Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge, the new game show set in a galaxy far, far away, will soon arrive in our own.

Premiering with two full episodes on June 3, 2020, the weekly series tests young Padawans’ strength, knowledge, and bravery in a series of trials designed to discover who is capable of becoming a Jedi Knight.

The 10-episode series will debut on StarWarsKids.com and the official Star Wars Kids YouTube channel, which currently host 'Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures,‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars fun facts, craft and drawing tutorials’, and several other activities for young fans.’

“With so many children and families home and looking to Star Wars for hope and entertainment, we wanted to make Jedi Temple Challenge available to as many young fans as possible by airing the series on our Star Wars Kids network for everyone to enjoy,” says Lucasfilm’s senior director of Online Content & Programming, Mickey Capoferri.

Ahmed Best, known to many fans as Jar Jar Binks from the Star Wars prequels, hosts the show as a new Jedi, Master Kelleran Beq. Best guides players through three rounds of trials as they vie to become Jedi Knights and wield the iconic symbol of the guardians of peace and justice, the lightsaber. Accompanying Best is Mary Holland (Veep, Upright Citizens Brigade) who voices the wise-cracking protocol droid companion AD-3, and Sam Witwer, who gives a unique voice to the dark side of the Force. Witwer recently reprised his role as the voice of Darth Maul in the critically acclaimed final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.’

Looks a lot of fun for the kids taking part - and for Ahmed Best. I hope it does well.

Lucas’ prequel method of shooting actors separately might actually come in handy now.

Going through my usual need to have my morning news with coffee (which lately has all been bad news), I saw this in an ‘entertainment’ section of google… and I’m still cleaning the coffee off my computer monitor. I seriously LOL’d when I read this crap.

It’s odd how this guy tries to make himself sound intelligent and in-the-know with Lucasfilm, yet doesn’t somehow factor into his bullshit that Disney/Lucasfilm would never take 3 billion-dollar+ money making movies and make them just ‘go away’, however divisively they were received by some fans/him. He claims that once Kathleen Kennedy’s contract ends in 2022 that Bob Iger himself will hire a replacement head at Lucasfilm: A.) Not his decision, KK can decide to renew her contract or choose a successor, B.) Bob Iger is no longer CEO!

Is there any news on the Kenobi movie/TV show/miniseries/Apple Watch exclusive video game? Having recently seen T2 Trainspotting, season 3 of Fargo, and Birds of Prey, I’m really down for some more Ewan McGregor.

I have also heard these Doomcock rumors but not from him which is probably why I have different take on them. From what I gathered, it sounded less like “erasing the Sequel Trilogy” or even “resetting”; it sounded more like opening to all possibilities. It sounded to me to be a lot like a comic book-style multiverse or even like Lucas’ old approach to canon. So, in theory, they can have all the current Sequel Trilogy stuff on one side and the old EU stuff on the other side with possible new material picking up after the Fate of the Jedi series. That’s what it sounded like to me anyways and I could be wrong. It does seem like some people really think they’re going to just kick the Sequel Trilogy and be done with it. I seriously doubt that will ever happen, despite how much I want them to. It’s not like Disney can just wipe the slate and try again so I think people are naive if they think that’s what is going to happen.

Technically, Iger did take the position back “temporarily”.

Last I heard it was set to debut in 2022. From the way it sounds, they’re super focused on the scripts.

Regardless of your interpretation, it’s completely fake, and will probably never happen. Disney is probably more interested in quietly sweeping the sequels under the rug rather than outright decanonizing them.

This is my interpretation of it. It’s obvious that Disney would never fully come out and say ANYTHING bad about the Sequels, even if TROS made less than Solo. That’s just plain common sense.

The rumor about a Lucas cut of Rise of Skywalker is absolute nonsense.

I have watched the making of Rise of Skywalker and GL was never involved in production or post production.

I don’t even know why certain youtube personalities persist in these, even when basic knowledge of Lucasfilm and how movies are made is available to them.
