Maybe they aren’t putting Droids up yet because they think it will cause confusion with A Droid Story.
a thread nobody wanted, a thread nobody asked for - yet here it is… 😉
The Premise:-
Droids follows the adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO as they face off against gangsters, criminals, pirates, bounty hunters, the Galactic Empire and other threats. During their adventures, the droids find themselves in the service of successive new masters and in difficult situations as a result.
The series was retroactively placed four years after Revenge of the Sith and fifteen years before the events of Star Wars (1977).

No love for ‘Star Wars: Droids’ in yesterday’s announcement for various ‘non-canon content’ soon being made available on Disney+…
😦
As others have pointed out, that is a little surprising… especially as the series involved the work of stalwarts Ben Burtt & Joe Johnston, had music by Stewart Copeland, and featured Boba Fett… yet along with the full 1978 Holiday Special, ‘SW: Droids’ is the only Star Wars release to not be available?
Even R2 is playing the blues on this news…

maybe if we all stream the hell out of the content that they are giving us , they will put Droids on there too . Fingers crossed . Anthony Daniels also deserves to have his voice work on Droids available for all to enjoy again as well.
I’m genuinely surprised that even the Ewok content and the HS cartoon is being made available at all, so now I’m sure Droids will come along eventually.
I’m assuming the Ewok movies and the cartoon will be in HD, so maybe there are some restoration problems? Or it could just be a marketing tactic and they’ll release Droids at some point right before or right after Star Wars: A Droid Story this December.

Good point. I’d guess this is the most likely reason.
“Remember, the Force will be with you. Always.”

Makes sense. Hopefully they’ll release it some time not too long after the new series. Since they’re releasing the Ewok movies and carton as their own thing, and the Boba Fett cartoon some months before The Book of Boba Fett it wouldn’t surprise me if they’ll try use the new Droid series as a way to create some interest in younger viewers by releasing the original Droids series not too long afterwards.

I remember in the thrasher seeing ROTS and thinking toward the end, “Well, there goes Droids.”
I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.
Now all someone has to do is recreate the original Ewoks & Droids Adventure Hour intro.
Where were you in '77?
I remember not like the Droids series, but it’s been a long time. I’d be interested in giving it another chance if it eventually shows up on Disney+ at some point. My tastes have broadened.
What happened to the Nelvana negatives, does anyone know?
Because if they don’t exist all they would have is broadcast tapes. Good enough for DVD and streaming, arguably. But for HD nope.

Well, we’ll find out next week when Ewoks is released.
And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.

The shows aired and were released on video all over the world. And were edited on film, not tape. Therefore, prints must exist.

That’s good to know. Now we just need Detours.

Ewoks on Disney+ is upscaled from the SD tapes.
The Droids opening theme will get stuck in your head. We must proceed with caution.

When they dubbed Droids here, they dropped the song and the theme is just instrumental except for one episode which probably was a mistake. I like the instrumental theme, but the singing sounds bad.

Take with a pinch of salt…

LOL, there’s a whole site just for things on D+?

I actually like the theme song.
“Heroes come in all sizes, and you don’t have to be a giant hero. You can be a very small hero. It’s just as important to understand that accepting self-responsibility for the things you do, having good manners, caring about other people - these are heroic acts. Everybody has the choice of being a hero or not being a hero every day of their lives.” - George Lucas

Weirdly, there seems to be a LOT of these unofficial D+ sites out there - maybe all after advertising revenue, trying to be the ‘no. 1 site’, or something? (Seems strange - a good ‘tv listings’ website is enough for me 👍)
On the official UK Disney site - in the listings for Saturday 18th June:-
https://disney.co.uk/everything-new-coming-to-disney-plus-in-june-2021 (and scroll down to ‘Disney+ Release Schedule for June’)
So both Seasons of ‘Star Wars: Droids’ will be available on the 18th June in the UK 👍
The US version of Disney+ does NOT have series listed - does anyone know when it’ll be made available in the various others regions?

Boonta Eve originated on Droids?
Where were you in '77?
So happy to see this!
Is this the first time that the first story (The White Witch saga) has been commercially available?
