Ewan McGregor Says Star Wars: Obi-Wan Filming Delayed to Next Year, Release Date Won’t Be Affected’:-

https://comicbook.com/starwars/2020/01/24/ewan-mcgregor-says-star-wars-obi-wan-filming-delayed/

A few quotes from the man himself (taken from the linked article above)…

“It just slipped to next year, that’s all,” McGregor says of the delay. “The scripts are really good. I think that so now that Episode IX came out and everyone at Lucasfilm’s got more time to look to spend on the writing, they felt like they wanted more time to write the episodes. I read about 80-90 percent of what they’ve written so far and it’s really, really good. And instead of shooting this August, they just want to start shooting in January, that’s all. It’s nothing more dramatic than that. It often happens in projects, they just wanted to push it to next year.”

“It will have the same release date, I don’t think it will affect the release date. They’re still shooting towards having the [series] released when it was going to originally release.”

and

‘When asked about reports that the series has been shortened from six to four episodes, McGregor denied them, simply saying: “I haven’t heard that.”

The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant (Released)
Time

Some posts have been deleted which were nothing to do with Hal’s proposed Edit - and instead just talking about the film in general - plus whatever people want to knock Disney for their apparent faults / choices for the Episode IX.

Lucasfilm must likely be quite relieved when they get a free pass / that so little criticism comes their way.

A quick reminder that the Star Wars Preservation and Star Wars Fan Edit sections of the site are NOT the places to bash on certain eras or aspects of the films, actors, film-makers or owners.

There are far more relevant threads in the Beyond the Original Trilogy or General Star Wars Discussion sections of the site to talk about this.

Critiquing a scene in the Star Wars Fan Edits section with the aim of improving it, removing it, altering it etc is perfectly fine. Statements such as ‘Disney sucks’ and ‘this film is so shit no Fan Edit can save it’ is not.

Thank you.

“It will be the eighth series in the Star Trek franchise and centres on the character Jean-Luc Picard. Set at the end of the 24th century, 20 years after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis (2002), the storyline is affected by the destruction of the planet Romulus referenced in the film Star Trek (2009), as well as the death of Data in Nemesis.” - wiki.

Help: Looking for... 1997 Special Edition HD (720p) - by dark_jedi ?
Time

Hi & welcome MythicRei 😃

The An Index Thread (and more) for Star Wars Preservations… has the project by dark_jedi you are searching for listed in there (as well as a couple of related discussion threads on it, IIRC).

The ‘How do I do this?’ on the OriginalTrilogy.com and the Welcome to the OriginalTrilogy.com; Introduce yourself in here + useful info within…, amongst others threads, will hopefully also be of some help as to how the site works (and doesn’t), how to search for projects, and how to try an obtain them.

Good luck with it 😃

Star Wars Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace VCD release/Laserdisc release
Time

If I remember correctly the TPM VCD was an official release - as to the rest of your questions, the below info may be of some help…

Nathan Butler runs a youtube channel comprehensively covering many of the popular and also rare releases for Star Wars down the years.

It can be found here - https://www.youtube.com/user/ChronoRadio/videos

If you can type ‘The Phantom Menace VCD’ into the search bar on it… these videos will appear:-

https://www.youtube.com/user/ChronoRadio/search?query=The+Phantom+Menace+VCD

There is also some basic information that can be found for the VCD release, here:-

For info on the Star Wars releases in general (especially older releases) these are also insightful and informative sites:-

Video Collector’s superb & informative ‘Star Wars on Video’ resource website (with images and info)

projectcclarke’s quality & insightful ‘Star Wars On Home Video Reference Site(with images and info)

• DavisDVD•com’s Information Pages on OT VHS & DVD releases (from 1982 to 2004) - SW : ESB : ROTJ : Misc (may have mentions of the VCDs?)

Star Wars Soundtrack for Episode IV - VI CD
Time

Discogs may be of some in finding if there was a release for a ‘Red Label’ soundtrack of Empire Strikes Back back in '83:-

https://www.discogs.com/search/?q=the+empire+strikes+back&type=release

and also hopefully give an indication of what artwork was used for it.

Are you sure it would have been a CD release back in 1983 though mate?

Good luck with it man 😃

OK. That makes more sense. Has someone cleaned up the scene and added into there own version of the original film in HD? Like I know there people out there who do these things.

Not as far as I know either - though Bobson Dugnutt’s ANH Jabba Scene Pre-Special Edition Recreation for the scene is worth keeping an eye on - and has made some impressive progress so far (to my eyes, anyway 😃).

There are other similar projects taking place in the Star Wars Preservation section of the site too.

The Rise of Skywalker box office results: predictions and expectations
Time

StarkillerAG said:

I don’t think that’s a valid explanation. Cam rips have been available for almost every big blockbuster in recent years. A relatively high quality cam rip of Endgame was released just a few days after the film released, and it still became the highest grossing movie of all time. I think the biggest factor in declining numbers for TROS is the mixed to negative word of mouth, from both critics and fans.

A quick example… around one third of IPTV services went off-line for a short while earlier this year due to incidental police raids. That was 50-60 million accounts for IPTV affected alone - not firesticks, not streaming sites, not downloads, nor torrents (all of which are more prevalent and easier to use and find with each passing year).

Plus, like I said, it is not just a problem for TROS - it is for many films released at this time of year.

Endgame was released in April - not around Christmas where money can be tight(er) for many families. If Endgame hadn’t had a quality cam released within days it too, like many other films, would have likely made even more money at the box office.

If you disagree, then fair enough 😃

The Rise of Skywalker box office results: predictions and expectations
Time

It is worth taking into consideration that there were 2/3 good quality cam versions of TROS that leaked online within the first few days of the film release. It is also on many dodgy streaming websites, and available on nearly all IPTV and firestick type services (which are apparently becoming more popular & accessible - and easier to use - with each passing year).

Whilst many may want to watch the final installment of the main saga on the big screen for their first viewing of the film… having such options to watch the film from the comfort of your armchair for second or third viewings etc may well have affected cinema takings.

The average film fan may opted also to watch the film online given the quality of cams available - and families struggling for money - especially around this time of year… may have opted for that option rather than spend $40-60 etc at the cinema on tickets alone; with the release of the film on dvd, blu ray and 4k UHD come March…

That’s not just an issue for TROS - it is the same for many films released in cinemas this time of year that have decent quality leaks quickly appearing online.
