It is a slow process and will take a good while to sift through each of the 5000+ threads (202 pages) and put everything in the correct / most relevant section.

There may be some overlaps / crossover for a few threads or topics of conversation - though we’re always happy to hear all your thoughts and views on them, and in which section some threads may be more suited.
 

We’ll let everyone know when all the moving of threads is finally complete (or we think it is all done! 😃)

(26th December Edit: all the threads from the old ‘General Star Wars Discussion’ section have now been moved into their new sections… please let us know if you think we have made any mistakes and some threads are in the wrong section - thank you 😃
 
 

The main aim of this change was to slim down and re-organise the main ‘General Star Wars Discussion’ section; 5000+ threads was just got too large a place. With more new Star Wars releases on the way we thought it best to separate the Original Trilogy discussions (and also what the site is about - being able to watch the unaltered theatrical versions of the Original Trilogy, the suppression of the OOT & why, George’s claims & decisions, the various OT releases - and continuing changes made to them, and early site history / evolving OT preservation projects & OT fan edits etc) - from the other Star Wars content.

In doing so it seemed logical to also have an ‘Expanded Universe’ section too - featuring discussions on Star Wars books & comics, games & gaming, soundtracks & music, documentaries & spoofs, homages & fan films, fan clubs & cons, theme parks & rides etc.

Hopefully it should also make threads / discussions on certain subjects a little easier to find too…

Re the emergence of ‘X: a general discussion thread’ for each Star Wars release in the ‘Beyond the Original Trilogy’ forum…

…this was done to try and have a centralised discussion thread for each Star Wars release. An attempt to cut down on the sheer number of similar repeated threads on the same topic - or often talking about the same few aspects of certain releases.

As well as cutting down on oft-repeated threads and similar talking points within them, which then fizzle out, only to be repeated a short time later in a newly repeated thread. Hopefully it will also give members chance to have more ‘deeper dive’ discussions, with diverging and alternative points of view… for each new Star Wars release.

Or the claims that years of ancillary PT-era material somehow improves the Prequel films themselves. Or not wanting to watch a video library of additional material on why not liking the Prequels means ‘you simply do not understand them’ or that ‘you are being wilfully ignorant’ etc… or the decades of mental gymnastics in trying to invalidate others’ contrasting opinions on the actual Prequel films.

However, the above is somewhat less appalling than the years of ongoing abuse and threats issued by some Prequel / Lucas zealots.

That guy looks like the ones Kylo fights in the first scene, which presumably takes place on Mustafar.

Same here - the humour from having the characters not be able to talk was pretty sweet 😃

It’d be great if it that talking feature is optional - and I also hope they keep the ‘pick up and play’ feel of the previous games too (whether for a quick 10 minute blast - or sitting down for a couple of hours on it)…

It’ll be intriguing to find out more about the cut / deleted scenes for the film…

For me, JJ has an abrupt / fast-paced style sometimes where cuts to the next scene come in quite early - resulting in not giving time for the emotion or resonance of some scenes to be fully taken in or absorbed by the viewer (not on the first viewing anyway).

Let’s hope they are also not time-stamped this time around a la TFA 😉

The fact that Disney may be depending on the fans to preserve film history is shameful. And we can’t depend on ourselves to be able to preserve it for future generations. Or even past generations. I shouldn’t have to download shady copies of the movies my parents loved to then convert into a different format to then burn on a disc and hope it works on their disc players. We as fans should not be depended on to distribute the original films.

The simple fact is that the originals are historical artifacts. We need to convince Disney of that.

I have an article written that goes through every addition & how each one ruins the movies & shows how none of them were actually done for artistic purposes. I hope when it’s published that it will be the spark that burns down the Special Editions, or at least shows that they are so flawed that we deserve to at least have the option to watch the originals.

One hundred percent. This isn’t the Skywalker saga, it’s the Palpatine saga. He’s the only character to be continuously present in all eras of this story and is also the only one that actually succeeds in some of his efforts.

But Rey is a Skywalker now. That was the message I thought came across at the end. Family is not just blood. Adoption and all that.

And also the mindset of people too in the wider sense - that the character and actions of a person are more important than past connotations, connections or expectations with the name of someone or a group.
 

It is more a Fan Film than a Fan Edit mate - albeit a very well done and enjoyable one 😃
