How to find / download (RELEASED) fanedits?
Time

Mandalorian1234 said:

Hi. I am a newbi on the forum.

Its May the 4th, so I wanted to watch and download the prequel trilogy.

I found a few interesting fanedits, all with “RELEASED” in the title. What does that mean? And where can I find a way to view/download it? I did not see anyone in the comments asking for PM links or anything.

Here are the 2 posts I’m talking about:

https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Revenge-of-the-Sith-Bobsons-Theatrical-Reconstruction-Released/id/77176
https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/THE-PHANTOM-MENACE-THEATRICAL-HD-Toppers-Version-Released/id/17137

Any help is much appricate it.

Hello there and welcome. 👍

If you’re looking to download and watch and download the retail release of the Prequel Trilogy you are out of luck - this is NOT a pirate site - and you must own the official retail release for any project you are seeking on here - per the Fan Project Rules.

If you meant you’re simply looking to acquire some of the Fan Projects of the Prequels on here, this will be of some help…

❕ I have found a Fan Edit / Preservation I am interested in - but I don’t know how to get / acquire / download it? ❕

Along with…

❕ ‘How Do I Do This?’ on the OriginalTrilogy.com; some info & answers + member FAQs ❕ | Site Rules | Fan Project Rules

NOTE: there are NO download links for projects allowed on this forum - as per the Fan Edit / Preservation Forum Rules and FAQ - See Rule 4 and also FAQ #9.

^ We’ve been here doing this for over 20+ years - so please don’t do anything to jeopardise that. Also, FYI - the Site Rules.

Star Wars Preservations can be found listed here: An Index Of Projects & Help Thread for Star Wars Preservations

Star Wars Fan Edits can be found listed here: An Index Of Projects & Help Thread for Star Wars Fan Edits and Other Projects…

If you see a project with “RELEASED” in the thread title means it is erm… released / finished / available. Other projects may have ‘WIP’ in the title - meaning ‘Work In Progress’. Some other projects unfortunately may have ‘unfinished project’ in the titles, or ‘on hiatus’ or ‘cancelled project’ etc. Some projects may have ‘Idea’ or ‘Help Wanted’ listed as they are in early development and just in the fledgling ‘ideas and decisions’ stage - or looking to overcome technical issues / want some suggestions or assistance.

Regrettably… and despite site staff requests… some project creators still do not include the status of their project in the thread title - so you will likely have to read through the thread to ascertain if the project is available or not (or how soon it will be).

The reason why you may not see ‘link request’ posts (aka ‘please PM me the link’ requests); in project threads… is because ‘the default way’ to ask for a project on here is to simply PM the project creator and ask how they are making their project available / ask them for a link - as it states in the Fan Project Rules, or the I have found a Fan Edit / Preservation I am interested in - but I don’t know how to get / acquire it? post in the ❕ ‘How do I do this?’ on the OriginalTrilogy.com; some info & answers + member FAQs ❕ thread - in the General Assistance section of the site.

^ This is to help prevent endless ‘links request’ posts - which often both deters and disrupts any ongoing discussions on the projects themselves, further ideas, much-valued feedback, and also reviews occurring in such threads, etc. Plus, the needless ‘link request’ posts have also annoyed some project creators (and also members here) to the point they have left the site.

Unfortunately many newer members don’t take the time to look around to see how the place works, or join in the community here, participate in the discussions across the boards, nor leave feedback or reviews for projects, or suggestions and ideas for improvements or fixes or later versions, or even discuss the projects themselves, nor help out fellow members etc… and instead just clog up the forum making more unnecessary and needless ‘link request’ posts in project threads.

^ This, despite many editors & preservationists choosing NOT to make their projects available to ‘hit & runners’ or people with a post history of mainly asking for various projects or making ‘link request’ posts - which is completely up to them.

Good luck with acquiring the projects you seek. 👍

If and when do you do find and acquire them, please remember to…

Please leave some feedback for the fan projects on here - or even a review…

…and join in the conversations across the boards here.

These are your first steps…

<strong>Tales of the Underworld</strong> <em>(animated series)</em> - a general discussion thread
Time

Skybatman said:

Vestress Episodes:
another story about a jedi in the run from the empire between ROTS and ANH, just like tales of the empire where the empire aspect was insignificant, the underworld aspect is just micro in the 3 episodes arc, its fels more like a pilot of a ventress show and u could use other characters in this kind of premisse like if u dont want to use a new character (btw they should a some point) u could use boba fett and do like 1313 arc for him. Outside of that the episodes are just ok
6/10

Yeah, that sums it up quite nicely for me.

The animation was a plus, the voice acting not so much. There was nothing new here, or of note, and it simply didn’t entertain - nor did it have any depth or substance. The story was a little meh - and served little else other than to say (or hand-wave away):-

Despite the whole reasoning for her choosing to ‘come back to life’ was her love for Quinlan… she just then chose not to find and join him after a short adventure with the young Jedi on the run. Quite the kick in the teeth for fans of the ‘Darth Disciple’ canon book (although EU & literature fans - and those fans still hopeful for the one consistent narrative across all forms of storytelling as promised in 2014 - should be used to that from Filoni). For me, overall, the Ventress episodes felt hollow and underwhelming… I hope others found them significantly more engaging, entertaining, and worthwhile.

I guess Ventress will turn up for a significant role in the recently announced Maul: Shadow Lord animated series?

A Cad Bane origin trilogy! These were more engaging and intriguing than the first 3 episodes of ToTU - yet still a little cliche and predictable; offering little new. Like Skybatman, I do wonder how much better the story could have been in a longer run-time (and also handled by someone with a fresh view and approach… than Filoni’s all-too-familiar trademarks and limitations).

For me, the ToTE and ToTU seem long way from the quality of the original ToTJ Dooku installments. I hope they don’t drag this ToTX series out further - unless they do give control to fresh eyes with a different approach.

How can I watch a theatrical release of the original trilogy online
Time

Doctor_c said:

How can I watch a theatrical release of the original trilogy online?

In answer to your question… you don’t.

If any online platform did this, and it became popular, it’d likely soon receive a ‘cease & desist’ order - or simply be shut down.

Plus, you’ve likely seen the video compression used by the likes of youtube and streaming services - in comparison to the physical media release - often lacking when observed side by side… so any free video platform would likely also struggle.

There was a time when someone uploaded one of the OOT reconstructions to a couple of ‘adult sites’ - where they were available to view online for a short while - though they haven’t worked for a long time. Again, the video quality wasn’t great.

There are occasionally dodgy ‘apps’ or TV/IPTV ‘services’ that may feature the unaltered theatrical cuts of the Original Trilogy as mentioned in here - The Unaltered Trilogy on Roku - as well as ‘veetle’-like online services that may screen the theatrical cuts… yet they are few and far between (and don’t seem to last long before being shut down or disappearing; IPTV being an exception).

If you’d like to acquire a copy of the unaltered theatrical cuts of the Original Trilogy head over to the Star Wars Preservation section of the site - and give the pinned ❕ An Index Of Projects & Help Thread for Star Wars Preservations… ❕ a read through… to see which Star Wars preservation projects appeal to you (usually, the Harmy Despecialized Editions or the 4K77/80/83 projects are among the more popular and highly rated endeavours around).

^ Obviously, you must be in ownership of the official retail release to acquire any such project here - as per the Fan Project Rules.

Please also give the following useful ‘info and help threads’ a read through to help you learn how to acquire such projects…

[… rest] …

Man, I love this guy. I have immense admiration for him: he not only grasps the depth of his universe and breathes life into his storytelling, but also embodies the art of filmmaking — seamlessly fusing these three pillars into a truly fulfilling experience for everyone involved and for the audience.

I’m not going to find myself interested in anything Star Wars-related for a long time after this (i saw the upcoming projects recently and nearly fell asleep), but if this guy was to be hired for a Star Wars movie set between ROTJ and TFA or something… i’d buy popcorn 4 years in advance. Or, when I think about it, maybe not 4 years with Disney’s history of firing directors. Heuheu.

If you liked that then you may also enjoy this one (for me, a pro-level video that wouldn’t be out of place on an official release)

The Making of ‘Andor’ (Season 2) | Interviews with Tony Gilroy, Diego Luna and Co.

Creator Tony Gilroy and actors Diego Luna (Cassian Andor), Stellan Skarsgård (Luthen Rael), Genevieve O’Reilly (Mon Mothma), Faye Marsay (Vel Sartha), Kyle Soller (Syril Karn), Denise Gough (Dedra Meero) and Ben Mendelsohn (Orson Krennic) talk to us about saying goodbye to the show, about the show’s political topicality, the richness of the characters, and the scripts’ amazing monologues and mixture of hope and despair – and much, MUCH more…’

The Painful Truth Andor Season 2 Teaches Every Writer

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vvu5-jrpuGk - an insightful 8 minute video from The Writer’s Armoury youtube channel.

The blurb: ‘The painful truth Andor Season 2 teaches every writer is simple: real character growth comes from real struggle. In this video, learn how to craft compelling, authentic characters that truly connect with your audience!’

aka…

❗ The correct way of… how to ask for a fan project …on the OriginalTrilogy•com ❗ - in the General Assistance forum.

From the two threads linked above…

⛔ Do NOT simply just post ‘a request’ for links in a project thread on here (unless asked to do so by the editor or preservationist).
Doing so just fills threads up with endless link requests… which often both deters and disrupts any ongoing discussions on the projects themselves, further ideas, much-valued feedback, and also reviews occurring in such threads, etc.

Fellow members are more likely to help you out if you are a participating member of the community here; you don’t have to be a fellow fan editor, preservationist, tech wiz, artistic or skilled etc… just a member that has made, or is making, an effort.

NOTE: Many editors & preservationists choose not to make their projects available to ‘hit & runners’ or people with a post history of mainly asking for various projects - which is completely up to them. That some people join up here looking to simply take - instead of give something back; not even leaving a simple ‘thank you’, feedback or review, or join in with the community here - and instead move on to asking for more projects… is not encouraged. Such requests may likely be ignored or deleted.

Do NOT create a new thread asking ‘for a link to’… to Harmy’s Despecialized, TN1’s 4K77/80/83, adywan’s Revisited Edits, the Hal9000 Edits, or any other project listed on this site. It is for you to take 5 minutes and go find the relevant project on here, for you to then read up on what the project is about, and then how to acquire it. Do not ask / expect others to do this simple task for you - we’ve had hundreds of such entitled requests over the years - and the patience of OT•com community members understandably wears thin. If thousands of people have managed to find, read up on, and then acquire these projects listed on here over the years… then you can too. A little patience - and a ‘read first - post after’ mantra - goes a long way on here…

FAO new members to the OriginalTrilogy•com: You may NOT be able to send / receive a PM for 7 days after joining the site.
Do NOT make ‘link request’ posts for fan projects in any of the threads on here. Instead, use the time to look around and see how this community forum functions, our site rules & fan project rules, read through any of the pinned ‘Index & Help’ & ‘How Do I Do This?’ threads, as well as any of the fan project threads that may be interest you - and join in the conversations on here.

Leave some feedback or reviews for projects you have previously seen. Or join in the discussions about the Original Trilogy - or the wider Galaxy Far Far Away. Or participate in the discourse here on film, tv, music, art, books & comics, gaming, tech, history, sports… or life in general etc. Read up on how some of the many fan projects on here are made / evolve / come together - or check out the talented artists’ cover artwork, and budding authors’ stories, script-writing, and re-writes.

Simply becoming an active and participating member of the community on here means a significantly better chance of others helping you out in acquiring any fan projects you may be looking for…

Joining up here and then creating a new thread along the lines ‘Give me the link to X’, ‘Where is project Y’, or going straight into a project thread and posting ‘How do I get these?’ or ‘Link, please?’ doesn’t really fly on here - and will likely be ignored or deleted.

The OriginalTrilogy•com is a community where a ‘read first - post after’ mantra benefits everyone here - especially for the ‘Fan Project’ sections. We appreciate some may be excited to see the projects featured on this site - information on how to acquire them is readily available - yet patience is also required. If you bring impatience, entitlement, aggressive or vitriolic attitudes, personal attacks, or toxicity… then expect some choice words in return - and also expect your stay on here to be a short one.

UK banks put £75bn into firms building climate-wrecking ‘carbon bombs’, study finds

Exclusive: Britain is key financial hub for destructive fossil fuel mega-projects, according to research

www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/may/01/uk-banks-put-75bn-into-firms-building-climate-wrecking-carbon-bombs-study-finds

a snippet…

'Banks in the City of London have poured more than $100bn (£75bn) into companies developing “carbon bombs” – huge oil, gas and coal projects that would drive the climate past internationally agreed temperature limits with catastrophic global consequences – according to a study.

Nine London-based banks, including HSBC, NatWest, Barclays and Lloyds are involved in financing companies responsible for at least 117 carbon bomb projects in 28 countries between 2016 – the year after the landmark Paris agreement was signed – and 2023, according to the study.

If the projects go ahead, the study says they will have the potential to produce 420bn tonnes of carbon emissions, equivalent to more than 10 years of current global carbon dioxide emissions.

“Despite the UK’s seemingly ambitious climate plans, it is astonishing how much money has flowed from UK banks to companies worldwide developing the biggest climate-wrecking and damaging projects since 2016,” said Fatima Eisam-Eldeen, a lead analyst at the Leave It in the Ground Initiative, the climate thinktank that produced the study. “Real climate ambition and leadership would mean proper financial regulation not only within the country but also beyond the country’s borders by stopping all financial flows to companies exacerbating the climate crisis we all suffer.”

The report follows a Guardian investigation that revealed how big fossil fuel companies were quietly planning scores of vast projects that threaten to shatter the effort towards the international goal of limiting global heating to 1.5C above preindustrial levels.’

Revealed: Forecasts of greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels soar in Trump’s first 100 days

Tariff chaos hampers Trump’s pledge to ‘drill, baby, drill’, but analysis still shows surge in planet-heating emissions

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/may/02/trump-drill-baby-drill-tariffs

a snippet…

'Donald Trump’s ambitions for the US to “drill, baby, drill” for more fossil fuels have ironically been hampered by the economic chaos unleashed by his own tariffs, but the US is still on track to increase oil and gas extraction, causing a surge in planet-heating emissions, a new analysis shows.

The US was already the world’s leading oil and gas power, producing more of the fossil fuels than any country in history during Joe Biden’s administration. But Trump has sought to escalate this further, declaring an “energy emergency” to open up more land and ocean for drilling and launching an unprecedented assault on environmental regulations in his first 100 days back in the White House.

This new political climate means that the expected amount of greenhouse gas emissions from active and planned projects in US oil and gas fields has jumped under Trump, after previously dropping under Biden, forecasts shared with the Guardian show.

Despite awarding more drilling leases than Trump in his first 100 days, Biden also pursued policies to combat the climate crisis that saw oil and gas companies revise down their production estimates. That situation has now reversed, threatening a pulse of new pollution that will further add to the fever of a planet already suffering from heatwaves, floods, droughts and other disasters accelerated by global heating.’

I don’t know where these mixed reviews you’re seeing are. Andor has come back to near universal praise. This just confuses me.

There’s mixed reviews all over the fandom. “universal praise”? Are you just looking at Rotten Tomatoes or something? Seems to be a real Marmite season with not much middle ground. People are either really into it or they’re just bored and tuning out.

I imagine people reading your OP are quite confused by your claim of ‘mixed reviews’ or above ‘a real marmite season’ - given the near-universal praise the critics (and early reviewers for all 12 episodes) gave Season 2. The majority of fans online too it seems, since the shows has commenced airing.

A number of the ‘bored and tuning out’ people on reddit, youtube and twitter… seem to be people who didn’t watch Andor Season 1 - (or found it boring / ‘not Star Wars’ / no ‘lightsabers or Jedi’ / or issues with bricks and screws in Star Wars - and switched off etc) - seem to be repeating the same issues for Season 2 (without having actually watched it)?

I only found a small number of mixed / negative reviews online in my search for reviews (here and here) - though far far fewer than the number of positive reviews. Perhaps you could send me a PM for where you found your mixed or negative reviews? TIA.

Good luck with the edit. 👍

There’s a little more about the device (and the highly volatile fuel ‘rhydonium’) here, mate:-

www.gamesradar.com/entertainment/star-wars-tv-shows/what-are-saw-and-wilmon-using-in-andor-season-2-rhydonium-in-star-wars-explained

I took it as the device being an old, complex and dangerous way of allowing fuel for engines or machinery to be used in certain areas and environments of the galaxy. Differing planets or systems requiring differing mixes or combinations / configurations of fuel purities to work… or for it not become unstable… and then exploding (which is why the other engineer claimed it would be a lot easier if they knew where they were going - as it would mean far fewer configurations to remember / less chance of making a mistake and blowing up).

Though I’m probably wrong on that.

And not fill the boards with ‘I’m new here so can’t PM you for 7 days - so please PM me instead’ posts.

Simply becoming an active and participating member of the community on here means a significantly better chance of others helping you out in acquiring any fan projects you may be looking for…

Perhaps read through the post linked to just a couple of above yours…

^ Not being able to send a PM because your account is new… is NOT a reason to make ‘link request’ posts on here.

Please leave some feedback for the fan projects on here - or even a review… (and join in with the discussions on this forum!)

Hopefully the project threads will soon get back to being discussions about the actual projects themselves - queries, feedback, reviews, exchange of ideas, suggestions for future versions etc - and not be full of endless & unnecessary ‘link request’ posts.

Good luck with it. 👍

Have you read The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings & Silmarillion?
I find Tolkien a bit like Lucas in that he kept wanting to make changes, not always good, to his work.

These discussion threads on all things Tolkien may be of some interest, mate…

Tolkien

The OT.com J. R. R. Tolkien & Middle Earth Discussion Thread

The Lord of the Rings (Films vs. the Books)

The Children of Hurin

There are also a few discussion threads on the films that refer to Tolkien and his books - listed up in the ‘Film’ category of An Index for Media : MySpleen, Film, TV, Music, Art, Books + Comics, Games, & Technology 👍
