1977 UK theatre intro reconstruction (Released)
Time

I loved watching this again recently - though hadn’t realised Jonno had completed projects for both The Empire Strikes Back (a 7.50gb mkv file) and Return of The Jedi (a 5.50gb mkv file), too.

Found them all on Myspleen - and were a pure pleasure to watch. Thanks Jonno. 👍

Edit: Plus, the other films in and outside the GFFA too - on his quality youtube channel: www.youtube.com/@jonnof77/videos

Idea: Backstroking the other movies
Time

Ripplin said:

Kinda nice to see this bumped. I can’t remember if I ever said, but my plan (which never happened) was to Backstroke all of Frink’s trilogy for him…but he never seemed to care (which really frustrated me, along with other aspects of his strange personality), so it became like more of a hobby which slowly fizzled out for me.

Anyway, I put a HUGE amount of work into making a gigantic glossary and putting things in proper order. In doing so, I got a lot of insight into the “logic” of the original Backstroking. There were so many times where things would come up and I’d think ‘oh yeah, I get where they were going with that…’ It helped me to finalize a lot. And now I can confidently Backstroke just about anything, not just Star Wars.

Aaaaaanyway, I’m looking in an old folder, and I’m not sure I posted these before; one scene from ESB, then two from…

I’d love to see the whole Saga ‘Backstroked’ and released - it’d sure be a lot of work… yet also seems like a lot of fun to be had with it, too.

Star Wars UK TV Broadcast dates
Time

Finally had a chance to watch some of the preservation of the October 1982 broadcast of Star Wars on ITV and I am absolutely blown away by the luminous colors . Simply beautiful ! Even with the tracking issues and slight PAL speedup of the audio , I’m amazed by the quality compared to the NTSC broadcasts we got here in the states . Not sure who initiated and made the final transfer /project a reality , but thank you ! This was a real treat !

Hi there, apologies for any forum etiquette failures, I’m new here.

Is there a downloadable version of the UK 1982 ITV broadcast?
If not, could someone who might have a copy tell me if Luke misses with the grappling hook?
Apologies if this has been asked a million times and causes a laugh or facepalm, I’m desperate.

Cheers

Hi and welcome, HappyToast. Both the ITV UK Premiere screenings of… Star Wars (shown on 24th October, 1982) - and Empire Strikes Back (shown on 25th December, 1988)… are available in here (check under the ‘TV Screening Preservations’ category):-

📍 A few available Original Trilogy Preservations - from a long time ago . . . . 📍

There is a ‘30+ post requirement’ to be able to acquire any of the projects listed in there.

Unfortunately we don’t have a copy of the ITV premiere for Return Of The Jedi (shown on 26th December, 1989)

Re the grappling hook scene in Star Wars… Mocata summed it up pretty well above.

A thread on the topic, here: my memory isn’t that bad, is it? (in SW '77 - Luke misses with the grappling hook?)

What is the current best way to watch the PT in theatrical cut?
Time

A collection of preservation projects for the Theatrical Cuts of the Prequel Trilogy can be found in the…

…category of ❕ An Index Of Projects for Star Wars Preservations… ❕

Projects range from VHS ‘Cam’ bootlegs of the Theatrical Cut - all the way through to HD preservations and reconstructions.

^ There are even a couple of completed ‘IMAX reconstruction’ projects for Attack Of The Clones.

It is probably worth going through the above Project Index to see which projects appeal to you more. Good luck with it. 👍

Some ‘Theatrical Cut’ projects for the Prequel Trilogy - including an IMAX reconstruction of AOTC - are also available in here…

PM me for a link

In general, simply sending a PM is the default way of asking for fan projects on here (unless indicated / instructed otherwise in the project thread)

❕ I have found a Fan Edit / Preservation I am interested in - but I don’t know how to get / acquire / download it? ❕

Please note that cluttering up the project threads with ‘link request’ posts is not only poor form - but is also against the rules & guidelines here - the reasons for which can be found below…

ATTENTION NEW MEMBERS: “Link begging” posts will be deleted without notice - in Announcements

^ Not being able to send a PM because your account is new… is NOT a reason to make ‘link request’ posts on here.

Along with…

Welcome to the OriginalTrilogy.com | Introduce yourself in here | Useful info within | About | Help | Announcements

❕ ‘How Do I Do This?’ on the OriginalTrilogy.com; some info & answers + member FAQs ❕ | Site Rules | Fan Project Rules

Please leave some feedback for the fan projects on here - or even a review… (and join in with the discussions on this forum!)

Hopefully the project threads will soon get back to being discussions about the actual projects themselves - queries, feedback, reviews, exchange of ideas, suggestions for future versions etc - and not be full of endless & unnecessary ‘link request’ posts.

Anyone undertaking ‘a weekly re-watch’ for season 1 of Andor - to lead-in to the season 2 premiere - should likely start it next week (starting 28th January).

I’ll be starting my rewatch on March 25th with three episodes a week to match the release schedule for season 2.

That’s a great call. 👍

Super Star Wars via a SNES emulator (unfortunately my SNES carts no longer work).

A lot of fun, if a little frustrating at times (with myself).

I really wish these kind of ‘play-through’ videos were around back in the day - though I guess we did have magazines and book guides to help (and alter GameFAQs etc)

Saga logos all in Return of the Jedi style?
Time

It is indeed a lovely logo.

The ‘Star Wars font, crawl & logo information’ section of ❕ An Index & Help Thread for Case Covers, Disc Labels, and Fan Art… ❕ may be of some help - there’s are a few useful sites, info, and also some free font download sites featured - hopefully one of them will have the font used for the logo available (a slight variant on ‘Times New Roman’).

Description: 'Another one for all of the Star Wars geeks out there, here is the TV showing of ‘‘Return of the Jedi’’ as broadcast on NBC Sunday Night Movie on March 19th 1989, with all the original ads included. I am aware that there is already a recording of that specific broadcast on MySpleen, but I believe this one should be of much higher visual quality.

You can once again thanks GoBlue1977 for providing the raw footage for this upload and making sure it would get shared on the Spleen. I did my usual post-processing on the footage to make sure to give you guys the best image quality possible.’

All Things Star Trek
Time

I finally saw ‘Section 31’ Paramount+ film a few weeks back - unfortunately it wasn’t for me. It felt more like a 2-part episode of Discovery rather than its own thing (or pilot for a Section 31 series - or for more S31 films).

A pity, though am glad others seemingly enjoyed it. Michelle Yeoh was good to watch - though the choreography and ultra-fast ‘snappy’ direction didn’t help anyone stand out in it (character-wise or acting-wise), and the story was a little predictable.

Have to say I prefer DS9’s take on Section 31 - yet that’s likely just me being overly fond of / nostalgic for DS9.

Looking forward to Season 3 of Strange New Worlds - though I don’t know much about what else Trek-wise is coming up.

Looking to commission a box for Harmy DE's
