Inside Edition: Inside One of the Last VHS Rental Stores in America
Time

1989: Will People BUY Movies on VHS? | Film 89 | Retro Tech | BBC Archive:-

www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4g48YKs9RI - a 4 minute video from the official BBC Archive youtube channel.

The blurb: ‘"The market for sell-through video will be at least as big as the market for compact discs in two years’ time."

Would you want to own a physical copy of a movie? The popularity of The Video Collection - a range of classic movies released to buy on VHS - suggests that, if the price is right, the answer is a resounding yes.

Now, the major Hollywood studios are beginning to release their latest movies for sale, directly to the public, sometimes only months after their theatrical release. The Oscar-winning drama Rain Man will hit the shops and the rental stores simultaneously, and will be available for purchase at a fraction of the price of a typical new release. Will the public snap it up? Barry Norman chats to retailers, video distributors, video rental stores and the general public to find out.

Clip taken from Film 89, originally broadcast on BBC One, 24 October, 1989.’

❕ An <strong>Index Of Projects</strong> + <strong>'Info &amp; Help Thread'</strong> for... <strong><em>Star Wars Preservations</em></strong> ❕
Time

Meanwhile… if anybody has a copy to share for any of the projects below, please let me know…

I’d also love to be able to include the following ‘wish list’ of elusive projects in the above list of legacy preservations

1️⃣ Puggo - Jar Jar’s Yoda’s Shea 1979 Bootleg VHS restoration (pre-ANH letterbox widescreen).
2️⃣ The ITV UK Premiere broadcast of Return Of The Jedi: on 26th December, 1989. | (VHS/Beta) | OT.com Info Thread.
3️⃣ a UK 1989 Original Trilogy box set VHS preservation - the 1st ever official VHS ‘box set’ release for the Original Trilogy.
4️⃣ a preservation for the German 1992 Sat1 Original Trilogy VHS White Boxset release…
5️⃣ any of Arnie.d’s OT laserdisc projects; X9 Project, French Coffret Trilogie, DC/Faces audio + 2004 video Hybrid, Star Wars V8.

^ as well as any VHD, V2000, and Video8 preservation projects for the Original Trilogy. If you can help, send me a PM. 👍

Some of the above projects range from ‘long shots’ to ‘hail mary’s’. Though you gotta ask (and still have hope)… especially re any preservation projects popping up for the Original Trilogy on VHD, V2000 (aka VCC or Video2000), and Video8 formats…

Theater Performance Preservations
Time

A Return Of The Jedi telecine uploaded to MySpleen in 2022 - and thought it worth preserving, with a few others, in…

📍 A few available Original Trilogy Preservations - from a long time ago . . . . 📍

Title: ‘Star Wars 1983 Movie Theater Bootleg(Return Of The Jedi)

Uploaded: 2022-01-01 06:10:18 GMT

Size: 7.97gb - an mp4 file.

Description: 'This is an original vhs tape from my personal collection that I recently got from an older gentleman that’s a big star wars fan he’s held onto all of these years and I know there are a lot of Star Wars fans on here so I wanted to share this with all of you. It contains a movie theater bootleg of Return of the Jedi and a random documentary. Over 3 hours of Star Wars nostalgia , Enjoy! 😃

Content in order of appearance:

Movie Theater Bootleg (Full Movie)
Documentary’

(Note: the documentary is a TV recording of ‘From Star Wars to Jedi: Making Of A Saga’ - shown on PBS)

Screenshots…

none posted this is the MySpleen comments section for this project:-

'This is a telecine of some kind. The image is squished. The two other RotJ bootlegs are not squished (for the main feature) and are significantly cropped, this recording is about 90% complete as you can see all the Reel Change cues markers.

It could be a transfer from a Derann 8mm. The image is slightly more cropped than this print:
https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Info-and-Images-Return-of-the-Jedi-Super-8mm-DERANN/id/74097

Previous RotJ bootlegs:

https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Theater-Performance-Edition-Return-of-the-Jedi-betamax-bootleg-preservation-Released/id/15671

The recording is glitched at the Reel 2-3 cue change. Same for the 4-5 change. So two reel were combined before the telecine process began.’

Adam Savage Meets Two Infamous Star Wars Props!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyMO6XnANuw - a 12 minute video at the Adam Savage’s Tested youtube channel.

The blurb: 'Adam gets his hands on two screen-matched props from Star Wars: the actual Medal of Yavin given to Luke Skywalker at the end of Episode IV, and Chewbacca’s hero bowcaster that was used for all three original trilogy films! These props are in startlingly good condition, and the bowcaster in particular reveals interesting details about how the prop was modified over the course of the trilogy. Do you think Chewbacca should have gotten a medal too?

Idea: Recreating Attack of the Clones: IMAX Experience
Time

I wonder if brandynskywalker ever finished and released their AOTC IMAX project? Does anyone know (or have a copy)?

I saw that The Aluminum Falcon released an AOTC IMAX reconstruction in 2017 (17.92gb) - it can still be found on MySpleen - though unfortunately there are no seeders (it was uploaded on: 2017-01-11 15:51:31 GMT - to help anyone searching for it).

Plus, schorman13 released his ~38gb AOTC IMAX reconstruction (based off TAF’s above project) back in ~2020, on TSWT forums:-

Darth Zounds' 'WandaVision' Fan Edit (Released)

Lately, I played around with editing together the ‘WandaVision’ series as if it were a three-hour film.

This means that I ended up cutting a ton of fun stuff.

At the same time, I feel like I managed to get to the meat of the story in a way that’s still presentable and fun.

You can PM me for a link.

May the Force be with you!

Could i get the link please thanks 😃

Why not simply send a PM to Darth Zounds - as requested in the opening post of this quality project thread?

In general, simply sending a PM (unless asked otherwise) is the default way of asking for fan projects on here…

❕ I have found a Fan Edit / Preservation I am interested in - but I don’t know how to get / acquire / download it? ❕

Please note that cluttering up the project threads with ‘link request’ posts is not only poor form - but is also against the rules & guidelines here - the reasons for which can be found below…

ATTENTION NEW MEMBERS: “Link begging” posts will be deleted without notice - in Announcements

^ Not being able to send a PM because your account is new… is NOT a reason to make ‘link request’ posts on here.

Please leave some feedback for the fan projects on here - or even a review… (and join in with the discussions on this forum!)

Good luck with it. 👍

Hopefully the project threads will soon get back to being discussions about the actual projects themselves - queries, feedback, reviews, exchange of ideas, suggestions for future versions etc - and not be full of endless & unnecessary ‘link request’ posts.

I came across the Proxy Edits for Star Wars Prequels years ago, I have never seen them mentioned on this site or on the IFDB site. Are they generally obscure? I see they are not on this list either

I kind of remember them - yet for some reason they don’t seem to have a thread on here (that I can recall). A pity as they looked intriguing edits… with a unique and novel approach. 👍

The Proxy Edits trailer was pretty decent too: www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfY3iyn0DRc

This site had a good write-up for them : http://thetoybox1138.blogspot.com/2017/12/star-wars-proxy-edits.html

^ the download links provided in both the trailer and above site do NOT work - and haven’t for some years.

Hopefully someone one here may still have a copy somewhere that they’re willing to share - and certainly feel free to create a thread for the Proxy Edits if you think it may help achieve that. Good luck with it. 👍

I have all three but was originally considering deleting them as the cutlist doesn’t match what I look for in prequel edits. I agree they seem quite unique though, and learning that their availability is so scarce, I think I shall make a thread for them so people can PM to get a copy.

Nice one, Miles00x - much appreciated. I’m a bit of a TFU fan (and Proxy is a much-underrated / oft-forgotten droid) - so I’ll certainly be PMing you for a copy. 👍

“There’s nothing in there that’s some juicy tidbit just for the hell of it. Everything has to be organic. That’s been our attitude all the way through: not to be cynical, and to take it more seriously than anybody ever took it. Even while we’re changing — some people feel as though it’s changing a lot — but even while we’re changing the grammar of what you can do, we’re trying very rigorously to be more serious about this shit than anybody ever has been.” - Tony Gilroy (Gizmodo).

“This has been the most important thing I’ll ever get to do in terms of how much imagination went into it, how much work went into it, how much of a better writer I became doing it, how much I learned doing it, and how important the subject matter was and the scale of it. It’s hard to imagine that a situation like this would ever come around again.” - Tony Gilroy (Playlist)

📍 250+ available <strong>Original Trilogy Preservations</strong> - some from a long time ago . . . . 📍
Time

Thanks for the kind words, guys (and to everyone in the PMs as well). ❤️

Massive credit to puzosep and SnooPac - plus many others with some kind & most useful assistance. A true community effort.

I’d also like to thank Atom-88 - who has very kindly allotted me some significant online storage space to host some of these projects.

It has certainly evolved and grown from the 30/40 projects I initially thought of listing up and trying to make easily available!

The new 4TB hard drive is already nearly full - so will soon be casting an envious eye on those lovely looking 8TB drives on sale… (Edit: 8tb drive now bought and quickly getting filled!) - with the GoFile online storage also close to being full (~3TB). Although there is still a little more online space being kept aside for a few additional projects to hopefully be included soon…

We’re also now at 194 2️⃣7️⃣4️⃣ projects listed up and available in here (as of Wednesday 20th August, 2025).

As always, if anybody out there reading this would like to share any projects they have for other OT preservations on the OriginalTrilogy•com not already listed above, please PM me. 👍
