Unusual Sequel Trilogy Radical Redux Ideas Thread — Page 82

Drama wise that sounds great but I’m not sure how that would make Pasana more distinct from all the other sand planets? I think people were thinking more along the lines of changing the sand colour.

You’re right but it would definitely look cool.
Pasaana is just bleh on its own

@dominiccobb - yeah there is, but if you check out the storm in Mad max, you’ll see how they differ

It doesn’t help that they reused the filming location they already had chosen for Jedha, making Pasaana feel even less unique.

I’m still strongly in the ‘make Pasaana Jedha’ camp. There’re those couple of unused Rogue One trailer shots, a lot of opportunities to craft the word ‘Jedha’ from ‘Jedi + a’ in dialogue, and an easy enough static shot of the planet with a crater or similar on it. And it’d give you the opportunity to cut out a new planet and return to a familiar one. It wouldn’t be much of a value add in terms of Jedha’s story, but it’d be at least as much of one as having Pasaana be all new.

That’s fine and all, I just feel like it’s reducing the problem without solving it. One boring desert planet instead of two. The idea has merit though. I’ll take as few desert planets as I can get!

Yeah, team Jedha all the way!

The thing is, we can’t change the fact it’s another desert planet, and I feel like drastic changes require too much vfx work or wouldn’t be really believable anyway. So, we could at least add more flavor to an existing desert planet rather than it being a brand new one that almost looks just like another desert planet.

Also, it makes sense that a Jedi hunter like Ochi would go to a world like Jedha. Why would he go to Pasaana, of all places? It seems like nothing is there. Even the Aki-Aki feel more like visiting pilgrims than natives (which fits well with Jedha, since it was also called the Pilgrim Moon).

It was also known as the Cold Moon, although I don’t know how the Death Star test would’ve affected its overall climate. It could’ve triggered a nuclear winter. So, perhaps if you could add slight hints of snowfall if you really wanted to make it stand out from other desert planets. But the first thing I would try and do would be to regrade the Pasaana sequence to match Jedha in Rogue One as much as possible.

It also makes sense for their to be random First Order patrols on a world like Jedha. I mean, was Pasaana really significant enough for their to be any there?

This might be taking things too far, but since Jedha was mine by the Empire in the past for its kyber crystals, what if after the serpent Rey heals slithers away, while Rey is looking down, she sees a small yellow kyber crystal sticking out of the sand? Not sure how exactly you could create the shot, but it might be a nice way to set up her yellow lightsaber at the end of the movie.

Count me in on the people who think Blackened Mantle frickin’ owns.

I’d never heard of Blackened Mantle until this thread, and from looking it up, it’s the exact sort of thing that’s in my wheelhouse. Has anybody got a link for it? I couldn’t find anything.

1:04 just taking out all the Acki Acki kids and the puppet show. Sad times! https://youtu.be/iTNchgZjufE

I disagree with removing the children scene. The point of the scene with the Aki Aki children is to establish the stakes for the movie, to drive home our connection with the galaxy (especially in the context of this film alone) that has been built up throughout the saga and show what the heroes are really fighting for.

I’m pretty sure Movies Remastered is joking that they’d all be killed by a tornado.

There are a couple of threads on Darth Lunar’s ‘The Blackened Mantle’ in the ‘3-in-1 Edits’ section of the An Index Of Projects & Help Thread for Star Wars Fan Edits and Other Projects - including where it can be found online, and also where to ask for a link to it. 👍

Hmm, it used to be on Youtube but I see it’s gone now.

I think i’ll see if there are any storm vfx i can buy or simply use, i have no experience in the slightest with vfx but hey lol

I don’t like turning Pasaana into Jedha simply because jedha was destroyed, i am not against to use of using unused footage like the fallen jedi, matter of fact, turn the ship flying in that scene into Kylo’s and we’re golden.

Edit: there is no way in hell I’d be able to make the storm. I am useless lmao.

So Kylo’s quick turn on Mustafar.

Should the sounds be extended or should he hear new whispers calling him?

Apparently this is what Jedha looks like after that specific Death Star scene in canon. For referencing purposes 😉

Someone made a pretty cool concept for Pasaana as Jedha. Is not as drastic as that depiction, but I think it worked well! It was basically just the planet with a giant crack across the surface that exposes the mantle. I also think an asteroid field of debris orbiting the planet could be added. Which would fit well with the movie, since we see the gang hiding in an asteroid field immediately after they leave Pasaana’s surface.

I don’t know, I think it’s somewhere on this thread or the Rise of Skywalker edit thread.

Hahaha, I literally did the same thing on another thread today.

What if the sequels took place after a Cold War type stalemate? The remaining Empire on the fringes and Republic exist with a DMZ boarder.

The fleet at the end is the fleet that always existed.

Starkiller base isn’t a new super weapon in itself and is never used. It breaks the peace treaty by manufacturing death star weaponry to be equipped on their fleet.

Leia’s group isn’t the only force in the galaxy, just the most forward operating group that is allowed by treaty.
