Star Wars internet Rabbit holes — Page 2

The somewhat outdated The changes made to the Original Trilogy films down the years… OT•com thread has had the links to certain Star Wars websites in it updated - so that they are all now functional once more… via the Internet Archive’s Tardis ‘WayBack Machine’ 😃

Some of the longer-serving members on here may recall a few of the sites linked in it - ranging from the mid 1990’s to early/mid 2000’s. So definitely some retro rabbit-holes going on there.

And for the younger members here - that is indeed what the internet looked like back then…

https://deeplyobsessed.blogspot.com/ - I could spend a good few hours reading all the cool content on that blog - thanks SilverWook 😃

Also this thread by ooj in General Assistance:-

though some of it may be familiar 😉

Tighten Up and then turn it all the way up to 11!

Star Wars Actor Appearances’ website - http://starwarsactorappearances.blogspot.com

The blurb:-

'This is your all inclusive source for Star Wars actor appearances. From the largest con to the smallest book signing, we will bring them to you.

There are endless lists of conventions on the internet, but there has never been one place to go to find actor appearances, until now. The actors and actresses are listed in alphabetical order. Their role and in which film or series they appeared is listed below their names and the picture is their most recognizable role.’

It also features the film crew and people from behind the cameras of the Star Wars films too 😃

And also has links to some ‘sister sites’ for other sci-fi content such as BSG, Dr Who, Star Trek, Firefly, Stargate, Lost and LOTR.

^ thanks man - and am glad you liked it 😃

StarWarsLocations.com

and their twitter - https://twitter.com/swloc

The website seems to have been reinvigorated over the past year - and even has it’s own forum, a gallery to upload images, a Q&A section, and sites used for filming can be searched for by location too…

You should put a warning on the thread title screams in the void - much time will be spent in here once you enter this thread! 😉

I originally posted the following in the YouTube/Vimeo/etc… Star Wars finds thread in The Expanded Universe & General Star Wars Discussion section of this wondrous site. As that is a massive thread it will likely get lost in there soon enough, and also thought it may also be of interest in here too, along with other sties of interest?

(I also wasn’t sure if this would fit better in screams in the void’s Taking a stand against toxic fandom thread? - please delete this post if it is unnecessary mods, or screams in the void)

A network of YouTubers have come together to form a project that celebrates Star Wars; where anyone can put forward a video to talk about their love and appreciation of Star Wars in a single YouTube Playlist - “choosing scenes, moments or journeys they believe define Star Wars, to further spread love for the series” - from any and all of The Galaxy Far Far Away…

The Link to the ‘Star Wars Defined’ Playlist:-

www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYcp42hsULg&list=PL9DcNxTVwGux0MRI1fln1UjRQ1K1vfILN (the Browntable YouTube Channel)

^ currently there are around 60 videos in the Playlist - covering a wide range of Star Wars content from all corners of the galaxy. Some videos are as short as a couple of minutes - others are a little longer (I think 20 minutes is the longest I’ve seen so far).

This was the first video to appear as part of the ‘Star Wars Defined’ project:-

Star Wars Defined - The Binary Sunset‘s Meaning Analyzed’ - by Browntable. (8 mins long)

and this is my current favourite video so far that I’ve seen (I liked TLJ in the main, but have issues with certain aspects) - this guy just persuaded me to give it another watch - and maybe appreciate ‘Broom Boy’ a little more:-

Why I loved The Last Jedi - The Spark Inside Us’ - by Loverboy Media. (19 mins long; with info on the ‘SW Defined’ project)

There are a few Original Trilogy themed videos on there now too 😃

My collection of vintage British Star Wars memorabilia’:-

https://www.ukstarwars.com (just for clarity - it is not my website or actual collection):-

The blurb - ‘This web site is the home for a personal collection of memorabilia from the Star Wars movie saga, focusing mainly on items produced in Britain or for the British market, during the ‘vintage’ period between 1976 and 1988.’

^ Some great images of old content and varied memorabilia - including old promo posters from high street stores long gone.

The ‘More’ section is well worth checking out - several categories in there - with some great old pieces from the official Fan Club, and much more…

^ Star Wars UK Quad Poster - ‘This is the Star Wars Quad poster with artwork by Tom Chantrell. It’s the second version of the poster to be used; the original did not have the the Academy Awards text.’

A shame none of the various Special Editions of Star Wars ('77) can claim those awards anymore.

This is one that may be familiar to the more longer-suffering serving members on here…

EC Henry’s youtube channel (OT•com member Aalenfae) - www.youtube.com/c/ECHenry/videos

Some insightful and highly engaging videos on Star Wars (and Trek) - from a whole library of obscure ships seen in the background of the Original Trilogy films, to decoding the text found in the X-Wing fighter cockpits, through to in-depth looks at the design of various ships and vehicles - and the scores of general designs and styles found throughout the films. Also a few old-skool (balanced and reasoned - without hyperbole and toxicity) observations on Star Wars, from a different point of view.

Plus a whole lot more…

His 2016 ‘The Force Awakens is NOT a Remake of A New Hope’ video is well worth 3 minutes of anyone’s time.

The A Defense of Ewoks is also a quality and intriguing short video.

Aalenfae’s Star Wars Video Essays - OT•com thread : Website - www.echenry.com

A few more of EC Henry’s quality videos can be found here - Random YouTube / Vimeo video finds thread for the Original Trilogy

ZkinandBonez posted about Nick Maley’s YouTube channel in the Random Videos thread, but I also think it is a must for including in this awesome thread too.

I hope I get this right:

Nick Maley “that Yoda Guy” YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/NickMaleyYodaGuy/videos

Introduction video ‘Insider secrets Star Wars and many more movies’: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVUR6dvp5nY

Movie making: STAR WARS and more, from a guy who was actually there!

Wikipedia bio: Nick Maley is a special effects make-up artist known for his work on Yoda in the Star Wars film series. He has worked on a total of 53 films including Superman, Highlander, and Krull. He is sometimes referred to as "That Yoda Guy” for his work on the creation of Yoda for Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on the 1982 film The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He now operates the “That Yoda Guy Movie Exhibit” (formerly called “Planet Paradise”) on the Dutch side of Sint Maarten in the Caribbean. His museum houses many pieces of movie memorabilia spanning almost nine decades of film. He uses his museum as a front for his non-profit foundation, encouraging kids to follow their dreams.
