The “Vintage” section sure seems like a perfect place for them to eventually release the unaltered originals. I know that wouldn’t be the ideal scenario for many reasons, but certainly better than nothing.

These shows are either region locked or given different release dates for different locations, because I just checked my D+ account in Norway and I couldn’t find any of them.

BTW, has anyone looked at The Story of the Faithful Wookiee? I’m curious about which version it is. Is it the “normal version” that’s been on YouTube for a while now or the slightly extended version with the fake alien commercial breaks?

No alien commercial breaks for me. Must be the normal version.

I was chatting with a guy in Denmark earlier, who says the vintage collection isn’t showing up for him either. Hope you guys get it soon.

It’s worth remembering that the 2019 D+ versions showed up there mere months before hitting physical UHD just over a year ago (they ditched Dolby Vision on the actual discs, but whatever).

So, a new transfer of the films hitting D+ ahead of a physical release wouldn’t entirely be without precedent.

I know The Bad Batch is already planned for May 4th, but I wonder if they will surprise us with anything else for Star Wars Day?

Still no Vintage Collection available in Norway (and presumably the rest of Scandinavia as well). Today seemed like an obvious time to release it, but it seems to just be the same as the US got, so at least the Bad Batch wasn’t postponed like The Mandalorian and TCW season 7 was, but it is quite frustrating how hard it is to get any proper news on this.

That is shite form from Disney.

Especially given they have inferred the ‘Vintage Collection’ (and other releases) will be available to anyone with Disney+ - with no mention of geographical differences etc.

That they have many social media accounts for ‘Disney+’ and they could very easily let fans from each country know what content is available or not - or when it will become available - is poor too.

I take it they do not reply to any queries from fans on the subject on the Disney+ twitter?

Edit: It may be worth trying this - https://help.disneyplus.com - to see if you guys can get an answer?

(there is a ‘live chat’ option at the bottom of the page - along with a ‘Call Us’ option too - hopefully it is a free phone call?)

I saw a post though somewhat off topic but someone saying something about a new color grading of TROS on D+ and I thought ok Im sure, but turns out to be right. Could this be a new 4k master coming eventually is physical? Kinda a similar situation with TLJ getting a imo “so call new 4k transfer” which let me explain. Rise Of Skywalker and TLJ 4k’s are the only one that haven’t had the black boarders cover art change as of yet at least in the US, though the slipcover for TLJ has that new cover. Also the Dolby Vison 4k is still available in those edition where the best buy boxset is updated with the just the HDR transfer for TLJ. Is Disney gonna more then likely use TROS new transfer to be release with that? Just a thought that came to mind when thinking about this news. I haven’t sat down to watch this update change but I might, I can’t really judge yet. What do you think and have you seen or notice it beforehand? https://www.resetera.com/threads/did-you-know-the-disney-version-of-star-wars-episode-9-rise-of-the-skywalker-has-had-its-color-grading-and-subtitles-fixed.430304/index.php?pages/faq/

All my life as I looked away to the future, to the horizon. Never in my mind did I know where I was, what I was doing.

I heard about the new TROS upload too, and saw a collage someone made comparing old and new frames (where there was SOME difference) but it’s much harder to me to spot by comparing my old screenshots from TROS with new ones. I don’t think the difference is drastic enough for a rewatch of the entire film, to be honest, but it is slightly better.

From the official site: Everything Star Wars on Disney+

May not be up to date, but what’s interesting is that (at least on iPad) each link on that page opens directly in the Disney+ app. A quick way to access Star Wars content on Disney+, and to check availability in your country. (to my disappointment, I found that none of the Vintage Collection is available in France)

Han: Hey Lando! You kept your promise, right? Not a scratch?

Talk about a pleasant surprise. Glad to see The Great Heap there as well. I don’t know why… ok, maybe I DO know why Disney doesn’t advertise the Vintage shows (quality and canoncity) but it’s still wild Star Wars stuff gets added without fanfare (although, now that I think about it, The Bad Batch hasn’t been getting a ton of press after the premiere)

As for whether it and the Ewoks show are true HD or upscaled… I’ll take your words for it. I think they’re true HD but I’ve been often amazed at how close to true HD the Muppet Show looks and I KNOW that was SD.

That said, I’ll swear up and down the Ewok movies are true HD and willing to bet (a small amount) that the 2D Clone Wars series is. I’ve seen plenty of upscaled stuff and, while I’ve only gotten around to seeing the previews for the movies, they looked too good to even be the best upscaling I’ve seen.

I could be wrong but that’s where I’m laying my chips. In any case, I don’t care if I’m right or wrong; not counting the holiday special and shorts from the Resistance series, I think that’s everything film or TVStar Wars on Disney+

The Muppet Show was shot on PAL video, as it was made in the UK, so there’s higher quality there than if it had been shot on NTSC in the U.S.

True point. Another reason I trust you guys when you say the cartoons are upscaled. That said, the episode of Ewoks I watched looks way better than the Droids episode I picked and WAY better than the Holiday Special cartoon.

I still argue the movies are true HD. They look WAY too good not to be.

The Star Wars part of ‘Disney+ Day’ (12th November) has been somewhat of a bust, so far.

Despite highlighting and promoting Star Wars content to come today…

for example this 30 clip from the official Disney+ twitter - https://twitter.com/disneyplus/status/1459205919196151811

…which includes The Bad Batch (Season 2), Andor, The Book Of Boba Fett, Under the Helmet: Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan Kenobi…

there is only the ‘sizzle’ / BTS type video for Obi-Wan Kenobi released - and that is only officially up on Disney+ itself.

Other than that, the ‘Under the Helmet: The Legacy of Boba Fett’, the 22 minute documentary ‘exploring the history of the legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett’, did air on Disney+ today.

It was a decent enough watch - with not much content many of us haven’t likely seen before…

Yet it also did not feature a single mention or reference of Jason Wingreen being the original voice of Boba in the Original Trilogy films.

More on that, here

…and now also in the ‘Jason Wingreen, disintegrated from history by Lucasfilm, for their new doc on Boba Fett’ thread, too.

‘Star Wars Announcements and Trailers Not Expected at D23 This Weekend’

https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/2021/11/dont-expect-star-wars-announcements-d23.html

"While some might be hoping Disney will blow our minds with new Star Wars announcements or footage at D23 this weekend, the event program suggests this will not be the case.

In a weekend packed with different presentations, the only Star Wars-specific one is “World Building for Star Wars: Galactic Cruiser” on Saturday 20 November, discussing the new Star Wars-themed hotel opening in Disney parks next year.

The presentation will be hosted by Ashley Eckstein and should provide some interesting insight into the stories behind the hotel and its place in the Star Wars galaxy. However, it might not hold much interest to those who don’t currently plan to stay there, which is understandable considering its exorbitant prices."

How disappointing. But I do hope they are as wrong on this as they were about all the content they said we were getting on Disney Day!
