Hey hey folks, gotta say excited to delve into some fan edits as its been years since I’ve seen anything. Oddly was brought here from a post about Harry Potter edits and am quite greatful! Been a fan since I can remember seeing the originals in 94. Grew up with prequels coming out and ate that up not to mention the countless weeks of JKJA PC gaming and mods.

Cheers!

Hiya Zab and welcome. There are some pretty neat projects and edits for the Prequel Trilogy on here which could be of interest - and a lot more besides 😃

Hope to see you around man.

The FE Renegades thread; from the people who post ‘go kill yourself’, ‘fuck you’, ‘let’s throw abuse’, and more at OT staff & members. Four years on and still throwing accusations, slurs and abuse at the OT & anyone outside their Salacious Crumb filled clique. + FE Discord “to vent” more at the OT. Wook’s take.

Hello everyone! So honestly I was not aware that a community like this existed, but I shouldn’t really be surprised. While I haven’t had the passion that is clearly demonstrated by many of the members here with editing and restoring media, I am a long time and avid D&D nerd and have spent many hundreds of hours crafting my own content and mechanics.

So what originally brought me here was my love for a movie called Army of Darkness. I have loved the movie since I saw it as a kid, and it was my first introduction to Bruce Campbell. One of my first VHS purchases was the director’s cut of the movie. I found it odd that it was so different from the version I was used to (having first seen it on TV). A lot of it seemed improved with longer scenes and more scenes, but the ending was different and worse than the one I had come to love. So, recently I saw a copy of the movie on blu-ray and it got me wondering if there was an edit of the movie that combined the director’s cut with the better ending. I was sorely disappointed to learn that copyright and licensing issues, among other things, have prevented an official release of such a cut. But then I learned that the Primitive Screwhead version exists, which I had come to find was a fan-made edit and restoration that brings together all the best parts of the various official cuts. So, I began doing some research and it brought me here.

So, I really am interested to explore this community to see how I might fit in, given that this is all so new to me. Take care and hope everyone is staying healthy!

Hello!

Greetings from Down Under, just watched my Harmy Despecialised cut of ROTJ (since finding these versions I now watch these films at least once a year, as prior I couldn’t watch the GL updates anymore), got to the end of the credits and came across the OGTrilogy.com address. Been a fan since the early 80s though my first cinema experience was ROTJ.

So had to join once I read a few posts and saw the depth and quality of content on the site.

Looking forward to taking a deeper dive into SW lore.

Thanks for having me,

LeiaFan 😃

Hi All,

I was lucky enough to stumble across some transfers such as “Raiders of the lost Ark” and Star Wars and i really liked them, so I set out to find the community behind them and here I am. Thank you for all your hard work.

I look forward to participating in the community.

Greetings Film Ultra-Nerds! (I use that term in the most affectionate way possible)
I am John AKA the Maker with Thumbs (indianajohn on the RPF)
I am a lover of film and television and love the work I see being done here. My callsign comes from my main hobby: Making! I enjoy building and working with my hands in general but film props and replicas tend to dominate my projects. I am also an amateur graphic designer making alternative movie posters and the like for my own enjoyment and occasionally for profit. I am not as big a fan of Star Wars as many of you are but please don’t judge. I still think it is awesome (I just grew up with Indiana Jones instead)

Hi! Joined here due to me searching for an ‘optimal’ way to view the Lord of the Rings Extended Editions for an upcoming marathon, and 44rh1n’s version of it provided an answer for me that I was quickly thinking I’d never get. So thank you so much to them for doing that. I know it sounds silly but it’s been a dream of mine to watch the LotR movies in the best possible way with high-end equipment (though I don’t have all that, just an LG C9 TV) after my initial exposure to them was the DVDs on a crappy 21 inch TV a decade-or-so ago.

Whilst I’m more of a lurker than a poster I’ve found reading through some of the other threads to be really interesting and informative (the ‘small details’ thread in the Star Wars section was particularly fascinating). It’s at the very least convinced me not to pursue buying the new 4K Star Wars sets…

So, yeah, hello everyone!

I’m so excited there is a movement to restore and preserve these movies so I can watch them and show them to my kids the way I remember them. Keep up the good work!

Hello. I will have something I’ve been working on ready to share this Monday. What would be the very best way to share it with anyone interested?

Hello there! I’m a fan of OT and EU, love everything about SW as long as they are not against OT and EU. I knew little about games and comics, but read a lot of EU novels.

English is not my mother tongue, it would be a great help if you can correct my grammar mistakes. Thanks!

It depends on what it is. If it’s related to a fan project it would go in this forum:

https://originaltrilogy.com/discussion/Star-Wars-Fan-Edits-and-Other-Projects/id/9

You can make a thread for it there, and post a link as long as it isn’t a full fanedit. If it is a full edit, you can still make a thread but people will have to Private Message you for the link. Just check the FAQ if you’re unsure.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

It may seem like I’m new here, but I’ve been around for many years under a username that I’ve always regretted choosing (which will probably be apparent to regulars of “the 'Spleen”) and was sitting on the sidelines watching things unfold for many years before that. The pipefan413 username is what I’ve been using as consistently as possible to identify myself for the purposes of relative anonymity while releasing bits and bobs and helping here and there in small aspects of the community that’s grown around the preservation of these films over the years; please respect this and don’t mention the older username that’s still in use elsewhere due to the inability to change it. You might know me from the Millions Of Voices audio compilations (which I only compiled, I don’t make audio mixes myself as a general rule although I have done some stuff with encoding and sync) or perhaps from other preservation/restoration/editing projects I’ve posted about elsewhere that don’t involve Star Wars.

Hello! I last visited this site in 2011, and just re-registered to ask a specific question, which I posted in another section. I just wanted to introduce myself to like-minded fans 😃 I saw Star Wars about 7x in the theater in 1977 with my dad when I was 6. Leia was my idol growing up. So of course, I love the OOT. It has boggled my mind to no end why it would not be restored and released in high definition. In 2011 right before the big Blu-Ray release, I wrote an article about this, for which I think I found some information on this site.
https://www.ourgazebo.net/star-wars-blu-ray-and-a-boycott.html

My license plate is “HANSHOT.” The only versions our now 11yo has seen are Harmy’s. So yes, we’re purists!

May the Force be with you all!

Hello folks,

I am Alex and my first cinematic experience with Star Wars was the original version of “Return of the Jedi”, which I saw in the German version (I am an Austrian citizen) in January 1984, almost at the age of 10. Within the following one or two years, I saw “Star Wars” and “The Empire strikes back” on VHS tapes as well. I have always been a fan of the unaltered, original 35mm releases of the films. In fact, I´ve never liked all the changes and “enhancements” made to the trilogy, starting with the Special Editions. Originaltrilogy.com is a great project, which I appreciate a lot! Thank you very much for all the effort and the huge amount of workload you have done so far as to preserve our beloved original trilogy!

Best wishes,
Alex
