STAR WARS CHANGES (Part 1 of 4) — A New Hope’:-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn2eD-RI-dc - from the ‘Original Thrillogy’ youtube channel

I haven’t had a chance to watch all of it yet - though looks promising going on the first 4-5 minutes…

(Is it by one of us from here?)

This really needs more views.

…I hope it doesn’t get taken down though.

Hey, thanks! That’s my vid and I appreciate the positive response in this thread. I couldn’t have done it without this site.

There’s a couple of copyright claims against it for the music (I’m assuming from the music in some scenes I let play out in their entirety). Apparently it’s just preventing me from monetizing the video? I’m new to YouTube, but that’s my understanding so far so I think it’s safe for now.

The ESB video is up now, btw. (And Jedi in the works)

Just watching your Return Of The Jedi video now - really great work in the two previous videos for Star Wars and Empire. Nice one!

And I’ll watch the Prequel video when I get some time too 😃

You should consider about making your own thread for your Star Wars Changes videos…

STAR WARS CHANGES (1 of 4) - A New Hope

STAR WARS CHANGES (2 of 4) - The Empire Strikes Back

STAR WARS CHANGES (3 of 4) - Return of the Jedi

STAR WARS CHANGES (4 of 4) – The Prequels

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

I really like her videos, and I think it is a good example of an interesting perspective on the films that we typically don’t see on this forum!

Wit & Folly are a really insightful channel.

Jason posted some of their content in here as an alternative viewpoint / fresh ideas and input on the subject.

I really hope they do a lot more videos and are around for a long time to come.

Tighten Up and then turn it all the way up to 11!

Mark Hamill Reacts to His Original Star Wars Audition:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxIuDJyzvDY&t

BTW can someone who’s actually read the old drafts tell me which version they are reading from here? In the old clip Hamill mentions Aquilae, which I know from the comic of the first draft is the old name for Alderaan, but he also mentions Ogana Major, which from what I’ve gathered from Wookieepedia was the old name for Utapau, which then later became Tatooine, though in the context of the clip it sounds like its Alderaan. I also watched the full clip and they also mention the Alderaan system, so I’m very confused. Is this an actual draft, or did Lucas just slap together random bits from various drafts for the audition?

They’re using the 1975 third draft in the auditions, but Luke’s lines were actually written for Ben Kenobi.

In the 1974 rough draft Princess Leia Aquilae’s home planet was also named Aquilae, but in the 1975 third draft she’s Leia Organa from Organa Major. (In the second draft Leia mostly drops out except as a bit character.) Alderaan was the name of an Imperial planet with a floating cloud city until the 1976 fourth draft, when the cloud city dropped out of the script, and the name was recycled for Leia’s homeworld.

Luke’s homeworld is Utapau in the 1975 second and third drafts – or rather, its colloquial name is Utapau, but it’s officially known as Sullust, like Arrakis/Dune in Frank Herbert’s novels. The 1976 fourth draft changed the name to Tatooine, based on the actual location of Tataouine in Tunisia. (The hero in the 1974 rough draft is Annikin Starkiller, who is also from Aquilae.)

The mention of Aquilae in the clip above is mostly an offhand reuse of an old name. Like Sullust/Utapau/Tatooine, Aquilae in the 1974 rough draft is a desert planet.

“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”

Ah, got it. Thanks.

I’ve only read the comic of the first draft, and most of the fourth, so Lucas repurposing names for new locations confused me.

R2D2: Beneath the Dome’:-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2i9u-gn9FI - a 2001 Documentary. 27 mins.

About:-

"R2-D2: Beneath the Dome is a 2001 American ‘mockumentary’ style short, directed by Don Bies and Spencer Susser, starring Kenny Baker as R2-D2 in a fictionalized life story of the robot from the Star Wars film series.

The film, which was made as a fun project by the cast and crew of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, based on an idea by Don Bies (ILM Modelmaker and head of the R2 production unit) and friends, features celebrity interviews, fake archive photos, film clips, and behind the scenes footage."

I am loving ZkinandBonez’ new YouTube/Vimeo/etc. finds for Original Trilogy documentaries, making-ofs, promos, etc. thread - full of awesome documentaries and stuff - well worth checking out!
