I don’t really know why would you expect it.

I don’t see why you wouldn’t.

It wouldn’t make any sense. Also it’d be stupid.

You’re not expecting some stupid pandering fan service? That ‘we’re all fine’ quip in the trailer was only the beginning.

There’s a big difference between a putting in small quips or easter eggs and forcing your film to conclude at a completely unnatural endpoint only so fans can go “ha that’s cute.”

I don’t get how people manage to interpret the “we’re fine” line as fan-service. It’s a logical thing for an overconfident bragged like Han to say in that situation. And calling it a reference to ANH is just strange to me. What else should he have said? It’s a perfectly ordinary sentence. It’s not like every combination of words used in a SW movie counts as a ‘reference’.

(BTW, he doesn’t say “we’re all fine”, he just says “…it’s fine. We’re fine.”)

I think it will be open ended. It’s better to be able to continue the adventures of young Solo.

How old was Han Solo in ANH?

29/30

Yep, although in general Star Wars is vague with character ages and timeframes. I actually don’t even know where this number comes from but it seems to be generally agreed upon.

Only Luke and Leia have definite ages, they were 19 in Star Wars. I wonder if they might age Han to 33/34 (Harrison’s actual age) to allow a bigger gap between Solo and Star Wars.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

I don’t see how it’s not just pure cringe and doesn’t belong so I guess we’ll agree to disagree.

Couple of ESB things, rewatching. Does IG88 have knees? Is he ever shown walking in other media?

Secondly why does that one Snowtrooper behind General Veers have a solid helmet with like nostrils but the others have a fabric mask?

The General Veers scene may have been shot at a different time than the scenes of troopers invading Echo Base.

No, he has no knees. He jumps all around in Shadows of the Empire. I don’t remember if they added knees or what.

I thought they all looked like that. The others have a fabric mask?

They’ve already made up their mind about the film. Waiting for the remaining 119 minutes isn’t necessary.
Going at each other isn’t going to change anything.

The crumpled face is the standard rank and file snowtrooper. The smooth face with nostrils is the snowtrooper commander. There are many other differences between the costumes too.

Also possible it’s difficult to breathe in the commander version and the guys playing regular troopers needed to be able to run around without passing out on the set?

Interesting there don’t seem to be any shots of snow troopers on location in Norway.

Just because it’s stupid doesn’t mean it won’t happen 😃

They told me they’d fixed it!

I’m going to make a statement you guys may not expect;

This is my favorite part of Empire. https://youtu.be/KvJDItC6tE0
One of Han’s best lines; “Shut him up or shut him down”

That could very much also be my favorite part of Empire.

That’s not really a controversial choice. If anything it has the best music on score. Some of the best quips and effects work too.

I mean, I think my favorite part might be when they’re leaving Hoth and Han holds up his finger to Threepio and then punches the bulkhead to get the lights on, so same ballpark.

Just a notice that the spoiler policy on TLJ will be lifted on Feb. 15th at 12:00 AM Pacific time. If you haven’t seen the movie by then…

Spoiler policy on the Han Solo movie remains in place of course.

It’s hard to say what my favorite part of ESB is.

It’s as if ESB was a 9.7/10 movie all throughout with some 9.8 and 9.9 moments. SW is my favorite though, because it’s a 9.6/10 movie with 10/10 moments quite often actually, so yeah.

I see some Star Wars movies and I say to myself, ‘That aint very Star Wars’.
Like I try really hard to see where they’re coming from and I get it, but it still doesn’t feel very Star Wars.
And I see some other movies that aren’t Star Wars and I say to myself ‘Hey, this feels a lot like Star Wars’.
Like I know it’s not Star Wars but the moments feel a lot more like Star Wars than many of the movies titled Star Wars.
Then I see the original Star Wars and that’s got the most Star Wars in it because it’s literally Star Wars and cannot have less than 100% Star Wars.

Star Wars.
Yeah.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

You guys talking about your favorite ESB parts may be missing the part where Anchorhead doesn’t have a very high opinion of ESB. That’s why he said “controversial.”

I think.

Anchorhead said it would be unexpected. And it was, because he isn’t very fond of ESB. I simply said that the part he linked might as well be one of my favorite parts of the film which got me thinking about what my favorite part would be in the first place, so I posted the post you quoted, but that had nothing to do with what Anchorhead said being unexpected or not.
