Here’s my take on Spider-Man:

I just copied the Spider-Man from this cover and coloured it to resemble this costume, so it’s not the most ambitious drawing I’ve ever made. It’s my ideal version of Spidey, though, so I wanted to bring it to some semblance of life.

Here’re some more superhero/villain costume redesigns I’ve been working on:

And below is the preliminary sketch and unfinished final copy of a poster I was working on for my Ep. I re-write. My artistic skills simply aren’t advanced enough to adequately bring the image I see in my mind to life, so I abandoned work on the project.

After the Superboy of Earth-17 mysteriously disappeared, the benign Lex Luthor of that world unwittingly released a trio of Kryptonian criminals – Dru-Zod, Quex-Ul, and Zaora-Ul – from the Phantom Zone. Free of their prison, and without Superboy around to stop them, they wreaked havoc upon the Earth, using their nigh-godlike powers to devastate the surface of the planet and slaughter billions.

As Superboy had been the only superpowered hero on Earth-17, there was no one else on the planet capable of taking on the Kryptonian supervillains. In dire need of a new superhero, Luthor took it upon himself to create one. Using his knowledge of genetics and abiogenesis, he created an artificial humanoid: the Matrix. Modelled after Luthor’s dead lover, Lana Lang, Matrix was completely female in appearance, visually indistinguishable from the woman she had been patterned after. Unlike the late Lana, however, Matrix possessed a host of superhuman abilities: flight; enhanced durability; accelerated healing; and the ability to manipulate light, allowing her to render herself invisible, create holographic disguises, or even generate devastating laser blasts en par with Superboy’s heat vision.

Matrix – christened Supergirl by Luthor – was quickly put to the task of fighting the Phantom Zone escapees. Unfortunately, it became clear that for all her powers, she still was no match for the immensely powerful Kryptonians, and they easily defeated her. Coming to the conclusion that only Superboy could fight these monsters, Luthor set about probing the multiverse in search for one. In time he found Earth-0, which was home to a SuperMAN. Confident that the Superman of Earth-0 would be able to do the job required, Luthor sent Supergirl through a hypertime platform to Earth-0 to recruit him.

After Superman was brought through to Earth-17, Luthor and his allies planned a last, desperate gamble against the Kryptonian criminals. The gamble ultimately failed; Superman was overpowered, Supergirl was grievously injured, and the resistance fighters were all slaughtered. To add insult to injury, the Kryptonians decided to finish the remaining humans off; using their immense physical strength, they drilled holes through to the Earth’s core, unleashing a cataclysm which killed the planet and everything on it.

With the entire world dead, Zod and the Uls decided to use Luthor’s hypertime platform to travel to Earth-0, where they would continue their genocidal massacre. Without any further choice, Superman used the green kryptonite of that universe – which was harmless to him – to execute the criminals, finally bringing their reign of terror to an end. Taking Matrix – who had been burned down to a barely human crisp – with him, he left Earth-17 for his home universe.

Once back on Earth-0, Superman placed Matrix in the care of his parents. Adopting her as a surrogate daughter, they decided to name her Mae Kent and began nursing her back to health. After several months passed, Matrix healed from her wounds, but the damage done had left its mark on her; her hair, which had been a fiery red, had been permanently altered to a light blond.

A number of years passed, and in May of 1959, Mae Kent made her public debut as the Earth-0 Supergirl, adopting an updated version of the costume she had lost on Earth-17.

With the arrival of the '70s, Mae Kent decided to take on a new look and a new alias to go with the new decade. Designing this costume, she ended her career as Supergirl and became SuperWOMAN.

A year following the Great Crisis in 1985, Superwoman took to wearing this more sombre costume in memory of those who had died in the multiversal cataclysm. It would remain her costume 'til her retirement in 1998.

I created a film poster to go with the new non-fanfic screenplay I’ve begun working on.

This is the first complex photomanip I’ve done. It’s not perfect by any means – Eric Stoltz doesn’t quite blend into his surroundings all that well – but overall, I’m satisfied with the final product.

Damn, Duracell, you’re prolific! I also really like your Episode 1 poster sketch. Very Struzan.

Apart from Duracell’s work, this thread has been gutted by Photobucket’s general crappiness. The broken links make me sad. Hopefully Deviantart will be better - I just made an account in order to re-upload what was my original avatar in 2012:
Vader Unmasked
This was right after buying a graphics tablet, and was trying to get a feel for the medium. It’s sort of an alternate universe Vader. I only wish his head had turned out better.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

^That’s pretty sweet actually. I remember when that was your avatar, never knew what it was from.

This is still my favorite Duracell one

^That’s one of my personal favourites, too. Unlike most of my other collages, it wasn’t made on the fly; I had a specific image in mind before sitting down and putting it together.

I’m not really an artist, but here’s a crappy little sketch of Mister Miracle I did earlier this week. It was simultaneously something to celebrate Jack Kirby’s 100th birthday and part of a school project.

Okay, this is something I’ve been working on for a while.

I realized while getting close to finishing the Technicolor ANH project that I wanted an original poster to go with it, and to use as DVD/Blu-ray art (if it was worthy). For these projects I like to give myself plenty of conceptual requirements to make it a creative challenge, and for this the requirement was to feature all of our heroes in a scene which occurred (or could have occurred) during the film.

There is only one scene in ANH that features all the heroes, and this is during the Death of Obi-wan. So I tried to find a way to make a dramatic composition of the scene, but the geography of the set meant that either Obi-wan or the other characters would be too far away to render in detail.

Switching gears and thinking it over, I realized that there was one other scene that could potentially work:
Technicolor ANH Poster Sketch
This meant contriving a moment before the destruction of Alderaan where R2 decides to show Chewbacca the Leia hologram. Since Han doesn’t seem to know about Leia on the Death Star, I had him turning away from the hologram, as if he’s just finished target practice and is going to hang around in the cockpit for a while.

This is just a sketch colored with Photoshop, so the details aren’t final. I’m considering making the hallway a more natural warm tone, for example. So, any thoughts on color/composition before final painting?

JEDIT 11-20-17: I’m in the middle of doing the final drawing, which is on full-size 27 by 40 inch Masonite. It’s a bit overwhelming, so in the meantime I’ve gone back and finessed the color and lighting of the sketch:

I tried making a warm-colored hallway but it was too distracting. Blue it is!

JEDIT 12-20-17: The final drawing is complete.

Now I just have to get to the painting!

Beautiful art! You can feel that there is movement and there is atmosphere. It also has a magical quality to it that is alluring. The perspective sucks you in.
