Star Wars DVD Covers

Hello everyone. I am not new to this site, but I am to this thread. I like all of the work I see posted here. I am always looking for great Saga series posters. I have all of the SW films streaming on PLEX and I looking to have a similar style for all 8 films. Does anyone know if someone has made a series of posters for all of the Star Wars films? The only ones I can find involve covers that focus on shadows or locations.

This thread may be of interest to you mate:-

and also the ‘HD Box size covers’ thread, here - http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Blu-Ray-and-other-HD-box-size-STAR-WARS-covers/id/11843

and there maybe some art of interest in the ‘Awesome SW Art’ thread, here - http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Awesome-Star-Wars-art-pic-heavy/id/47273

Good luck - hope you find what you are looking for…

and if you do find some other quality plex/media centre style covers please post up a link to them - thanks 😃

Sad to have to say this again, but I hope all our UK members are safe and sound.

Hard to believe such a thing could happen in a building in a modern city.

Horrific, mate.

Fair play to all those offering spare rooms, clothes, food and toiletries in and around the nearby area to the Grenfell Block residents.

And to the emergency services too.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/grenfell-tower-fire

According to fleeing residents there was no building-wide alarm heard, no sprinklers, and a ‘stay put’ fire advice strategy in place.

Seems to be a lot of people missing/unaccounted for - unfortunately as the fire started just after 1am, many may have been asleep - I really hope not, though. Hopefully many escaped and are ‘just’ in shock or with friends/family etc.

Laptop screen problem

Well, I have to keep the lid open. It is kinda difficult to operate the keyboard with the lid shut.

On some laptops you can remove the screen from the rest of the laptop (you’ll have to take care removing the hinges and wiring from the screen) - in essence just having a ‘chunky keyboard’ with hdmi or vga cable from it going to the external monitor.

Looks a little weird - but certainly nothing wrong with it 😃

from what you describe Warmbler mate, one69chev is correct - you’ll need a new screen (or continue to use the laptop hooked up to an external monitor).

I’ve no idea on US prices - but if you were here in the UK a new laptop screen (standard 15.4") would cost around £35-50 on ebay, and if you don’t want to fit it yourself^, expect to pay about £30-45 for labour to fit it by a computer engineer/repairman.

^ = it can be very fiddly to do - and you don’t want break the screen bezel (they are VERY flimsy) or snag any cables etc - and some laptops require the keyboard to be removed to get at the wiring to the laptop screen too.

There are usually 2 differing types of screen - both have different connections - so anyone needing to order a new screen will likely want to have a look at the laptop first to make sure they order the correct type.

It may be worth typing in your model of laptop into youtube to see how others have replaced their screens etc too.

Good luck with it mate

Well it’s exactly as I predicted, except that the Silly Party won.

Windows Phone is incredible. Best phone I’ve ever owned. I help my dad with his Android phone every now and then and it’s such a frustrating locked down piece of garbage OS.

They’re pushing some new updates for Windows (10 and 10 Mobile) lately that have all been pretty great in my opinion.

Yeah, just don’t install that recently released build 16212 update from MS…

(as ever with The Reg articles - the comments section is always worth a read 😃)

and that’s not to say that Windows phones aren’t decent - the more choices we as consumers have, the better 😃

A question for you Ukers:

What would have happened if the Conservatives had won a majority of the seats of Parliament, but Theresa May lost her own seat?

The Tories would then hold a leadership election - their MP’s vote for the leader of their party (IIRC). Usually the PM is in one of the safest seats in the country - can’t recall a PM ever losing their own seat - but could happen…

I don’t understand, why would the Tories hold a leadership election? I said in my question that the Conservatives won a majority number of seats. So, wouldn’t be the Conservatives holding a leadership election?

Sorry Warbler mate - I should have made it clear that Conservatives and Tories are one and the same thing (as ywhx correctly pointed out).

I will pass on your earlier apology to Lord Buckethead - though I think he’ll likely say he’ll forgive you if you go watch his oscar-worthy Gremloids/Hyperspace film from 1984 😉

and a lot more to Theresa May’s friends than that, sadly…

Turns out you’ve got a case of the Trumps too. If Penicillin doesn’t clear it up soon, you have our condolences.

I’ve got the bleach, a scrubbing brush, penicillin, alcohol, The Holiday Special, Gremloids, and several showers to try and get rid of it 😉

And of course a feature film https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperspace_(film)

I’d forgotten about Lord Buckthead’s long and illustrious past - about time there was another film, maybe a reboot? 😉

Full film available here (or most of it) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eI0i2YwYABY 😃

Democracy is a good thing but you can have too much of a good thing…

September 2014 - Scottish independence referendum
May 2015 - United Kingdom general election
May 2015 - United Kingdom local elections
May 2016 - Scottish Parliament election
June 2016 - United Kingdom European Union membership referendum
May 2017 - United Kingdom local elections
June 2017 - United Kingdom general election

Only joking but seriously if there is another Indie-Ref, another Brexit vote and another GE this year, I’ll be like the famous Brenda from Bristol…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6-IQAdFU3w

Never stops being funny. That lady summed up the feelings of the whole country in a few seconds.

See in October for the 2nd General Election of the year mate - with Brenda too 😉

in other news Labour won Kensington (result finally announced earlier tonight) - the Tories had a near 8,000 majority there back in 2015.

Seems the Scottish Tories are distancing themselves from the DUP already (wouldn’t be too surprised to see some English or Welsh Tories join them).

a shame Mr Buckethead ‘only’ managed 249 votes vs Theresa May in Maidenhead - though he is now free for panto and Dr Who appearances 😉

^ just for clarity - Lord Buckethead is in the black suit, just to the right of the emotionless robot with views from another world in the red suit.

Your lunatic fringe candidates are way more fun than ours.

Lord Buckethead looks like the Black Knight from Holy Grail and Darth Vader’s love child.

😄 'Tis only a scratch 😉

Elmo from the Muppets was also there - sadly he only got 3 votes.

The real Elmo? I knew he was evil. It was a dark day on Sesame St. when he took over the show and stole the limelight away from my beloved Grover.

Cookie Monster and his British cousin, Biscuit Monster, hopefully have this covered mate 😃

of course Mr Fishfinger was there at the election too…

^ he got 309 votes 😃

Sorry mate - I’ve no idea on the other parties’ leaders how how they elect them.
