Sorry mate - could you be a little more specific on what they denied - and what they are now ‘owning up to’?

That British Intelligence apparently gave the U.S. Intel they gained from surveillance of Trump Staff/Russia ties. Sorry that wasn’t clear. This information was clearly available weeks ago here in the States and some people got tossed under the bus for even insinuating that British Intelligence had or shared any such Intel with the U.S… Now they’ve owned up to it after the fact.

I thought the accusations from weeks ago were of British Intelligenece spying on Trump/ Trump Towers on behalf of the American Security Services? Whereas the news linked by me is of the British giving a heads-up to their US counterparts after trailing/spying on Russian counterparts and possible Russian agents - going back some time - and as to a pattern emerging over meetings with Trump’s people (along with article that has the ex-MI6 Chief thinking that Trump may have borrowed money from Russia to help keep his empire afloat around the time of the financial crisis in 2008(-ish)).

I think they are two very different things - and the British Services were correct in denying that were spying on Trump/Trump Towers on behalf of the US Services.

The US and Brits, along with other allies often keep each other abreast of information and goings on (though likely keep the really interesting stuff from each other 😉)

Personally, I would not doubt the possibility of the U.K. doing the footwork for the U.S. overseas like this. Admitting it would be a far different matter of course.

It’s a possibility - though quite unlikely given the size of the UK security services these days - due to the cuts they have suffered over the past few years. It’s more likely we’d be getting more of our info ‘2nd hand’ from the US and our other allies than before - and concentrating our resources more on anti-terror (Middle East & North Africa) and the Russians.

I doubt we even spy on the US and other allies much these days…

Anyway, the rare.us article is stretching at best - and ignores the fact that it was the UK spying on the Russians that incidentally came up with a pattern of meetings by Trump’s people with those Russians - to which the US Security Services (along with our other European allies) was tipped off about. There is no proof in that story of anything apart from some very loose conjecture to try and give some semblance of credence (in the form of a question in the editorial title) to what Judge Andrew Napolitano mistakenly stated and inferred ‘from his source’ that we were spying on Trump (for ourselves or for the US).

I’d no idea that James Earl Jones had never met Carrie Fisher before filming that scene - I imagined lots of people on films don’t actually meet each other if not in the same scene or doing voice work in post etc - but seems strange to think they never had met in 35+ years of doing interviews, talks shows, Star Wars PR and anniversaries etc.

I don’t know much about conventions like Celebration etc - but I imagine no-one on any of the panels will be bringing up, or referring, to the subject of the lack of the OOT? - despite it actually being the 40th anniversary of the version of the film that started it all - and we all still can’t buy.

(if so, I wonder who actually says to people not to mention that? Someone from Lucasfilm or Disney, or other?)

The problem is the Despecialized editions simply aren’t good enough. The colour timing is way way off. In the case of A New Hope it’s dire. Silver Screen edition is great, but for the sequels all we have is the grindhouse versions.

I think they are great - though I am not fussed by stuff like the colour timing being ‘way way off’ etc - for me right now the DeSpecialised Editions and the 35mm SSE & Grindhouse are the best way to watch the OT - and certainly far better than the pitiful official releases we are continuously being sold.

The eventual work/release of the v3 DeSpecialised Editions will likely see even better results than before too, along with the continuing work on the 35mm by the other lads.

The more I read it the more I like it. For me the crawl fits the style and tone of the the OT crawls, as well as the Rogue One movie itself. It isn’t too long and doesn’t overburden the viewer with details or minutia, and ‘scans’ quite well too.

The 1st paragraph setting the outline of the Star Wars universe since the last film (chronologically Episode III),

It’s 2nd paragraph setting the current events - along with the acknowledgment of a fledgling Rebellion starting to fight back vs the oppressive Empire,

and the 3rd paragraph ‘setting the scene’, as it were, for the start of Rogue One itself…

all very well done 😃

I have always LOVED this crawl and have considered making a personal version of Rogue One with it as a crawl but I’m not exactly sure how I would remove the title card effectively.

I have no idea either mate 😃 Though I’d love to see this in a Fan Edit - or like you, just added to ‘my version’ of the film itself…

The genius lads in the SW Fan Edit section on here will likely know how - and be of any other assistance too…

(luckily the original title card is very quick - and the scene where young Jyn is waiting in the bunker, and then Saw arrives, could/should be quite easily seam into the her waking up in the Imperial Prison cell. There is a little overlapping of the film score with Saw’s voice though - when Saw tells young Jyn ‘my child… come, we have a long ride ahead of us…’ around 7m.30s in - to get around…)
