And how will look CGI Leia and Tarkin in the future Lucas’s MentalDisc InducedFeelings BrainGraft in 2057 year Edition?

Please, sto*e original reels!

There’s already 35mm scans of original prints done by fans available, and Harmy used some footage from them in Despecialized (including, if I’m not mistaken, an entire reel in ROTJ 2.5 due to a Blu-Ray master focus error). There’s also ongoing projects looking to better restore these 35mm sources.

Yep, some of those projects are 4K77,4K83 and 4K80 Projects, The 1997 Special Edition in 35mm, The Phantom Menace in 35mm, and many, many more.

Muzzle flashes illuminate the cockpits of the walkers, an effect not in the original.

Apologies if this has already been reported; I do not have the wherewithal to comb the thread and see.

The shot of Luke I was referring to was during the line “I copy Gold Leader”, I was just giving a visual so you can find the error on the Y-Wing prior to that.

And yes, I probably was watching the 1.0 version.

Nope, you were right. I was talking about a different shot.

Damn. Must have been something they fixed in 97 that slipped in.

Edit: Hmm. I swear I knew about this change, but I don’t think I see it in either Harmy’s Despecialized Gallery or doubleofive’s change gallery. That explains how it missed my spot checking at the end, but I could have sworn it was, at one point, in such a gallery.

So we’re not talking about this one?

Nope. Cockpit shot with y wing in the background. Early in the fight.

These are in the original, off by a frame.

REPORT-SW-v2.7
00:30:26

I have watched mkv V2.7 and the theatrical release on dvd and noticed there are some issues with the colour correction on some of the scenes in particular the first scene we see Obi-Wan Kenobi.

His skin tones are very similar to the background (sepia color) and R2-D2 blues is dull/dark.

The landspeeder seems to have lost it slight red tone. I am unsure if it’s most of the scene.

Color will be tweaked in v3.0, it will use Neverar’s Technicolor Recreation as its main source, which looks like this:

Most likely the shot will look like that in Despecialized, if I’m not mistaken.
(btw, the image makes it look a tad more green than it actually is)

I don’t know if this has been reported in this tread, so just in case, I’ll bring it to attention.

Somebody named thedewback2 mentioned on the tread for Harmy’s STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 that he or she noticed something in the edition that, after careful observation via looking at the said edition alongside the TeamNegative Silver Screen edition, I noticed myself. Here’s what he had to say:

One of the biggest problems I’ve had with despecialized is in the shot where Han has chased the stormtroopers into the dead end on the death star; the one that was changed with a hangar in 1997. The wall on the far right side of the frame was digitally altered in the SE and still appears that way in DE. Are there any plans to fix this?

I see that the wall frame left has the mirrored frame right wall from the SE.

R2’s blue panels were oddly desaturated in that shot in the Blu-ray, so it required special attention in my project. What probably happened here was an effect of an overagressive global blue/pink reduction, which had already affected many of the skin tones before the file was handed over to Harmy.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

a request for some assistance with Despecialized from Harmy…

Guys - I could use some help - I remember some time ago, someone was working on a shotlist for the SW movies and I can’t find it. But what I’d really need is someone helping me catalogue all the shots that need despecializing and making a system that will make it easier for me to keep track of the shots and what they need done.
My idea is this table, where I could keep track of the progress on all the shots:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NwFnvrRp3CnyDOdr9W1__8PLBGwH8WOKkl8mjke8LQs/edit?usp=sharing

So, would I find volunteers, who would help me by going through Doubleofive’s galleries and putting all the shots down in this table and looking them up in GOUT and BD and putting in the timecodes?

When this is done and I start working on v3.0, the plan is to keep the table public, so you guys can check on my progress and every once in a while, when all shots in a sequence have status Pending Final, I want to post the sequence as a work-print and only after I get positive feedback on it, I will mark the shots as final.

This will make you guys more involved again, like in the old times, and it should help keep me more motivated. 😃

Please send him a PM if you can help…

I already had an image with the lighting and I completely missed it. Nice spotting!

It did lead me to a 2004 change we never caught in the first frame of the next scene.

This might help:

http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Shot-List-Spreadsheet-v0505-6-films-publicly-editable/id/13403

I used it to generate a shot list based on frame numbers, which allowed me to write scripts to sort each reel into shots, and generate EDL files that could be used instead of automatic scene detection in programs like Resolve…

Yes, I think that link was posted shortly after Harmy first asked for some help. It’s certainly a great resource, and your scripts sound like they would be extremely helpful.

As for the request for assistance, I feel bad that Harmy hasn’t gotten any responses yet. I would like to, and may indeed be able to at some point in the future. I just don’t have the time right now, and would not want to commit to it if I’m not able to see it through. Best of luck, Harmy. And congrats again on the big shot film work. 😃
