Very cool. I’m really happy the show is bringing in people like that. It does so much to contribute towards its believability and realism.
I just may have to treat myself to this Andor release.
“Nicholas Britell - Music From Andor (Target Exclusive, Vinyl)”:
https://www.target.com/p/nicholas-britell-music-from-andor-target-exclusive-vinyl/-/A-91898943
$25. Released July 19, and also available for pre-order.
“Don’t tell anyone… but when ‘Star Wars’ first came out, I didn’t know where it was going either. The trick is to pretend you’ve planned the whole thing out in advance. Throw in some father issues and references to other stories - let’s call them homages - and you’ve got a series.” - George Lucas
That vinyl release is tempting.
So many awesome scenes in Andor to have running in the background when listening to it as well.
“In the future it will become even easier for old negatives to become lost and be “replaced” by new altered negatives. This would be a great loss to our society. Our cultural history must not be allowed to be rewritten.” - George Lucas
We have writer-arc pairs for S2 on the updated WGA directory.
Tom Bissell is a really interesting choice for the last arc, he’s mostly known for his video game stuff, but his career has largely been in nonfiction as a political journalist and critic, much of his work based around the Soviet Union and the legacy of communism.
The first season was already freighted with historical allegory and sociopolitical themes, but now there’s real researched weight behind season 2, which is so cool. I imagine as we go further into the revolution, this subject matter becomes more pertinent.
Gilroy has also said Bissell was brought in as the Star Wars fan of the staff; that synthesis should actually be kind of perfect for the finale arc overlapping with Star Wars™ proper.
Outside of the obvious stuff his background would bring (political history, Star Wars nerddom), he wrote a book, Apostle: Travels Among the Tombs of the Twelve - a spiritual/academic investigation on the early schisms of Christianity and the historical context of the Bible’s authors. For a show like Andor, it sounds like the perfect framework for developing the Force’s role in the Rebellion, similarly to how I speculated it would eventually factor in a few pages back. I’ve already picked up a copy and am excited to read it lol. hopefully some of this helps inform s2
Tangentially, in the first season, Gilroy mentioned Simon Seabag Montefiore’s Young Stalin as inspiration particularly for the heist and Cassian himself, and I did end up reading that as well. Really interesting book too! There’s a lot of insight in these sources and the writers’ previous work towards what exactly the show is doing, if anyone else was interested in that sort of thing. It only makes the show more satisfying.

C’mon back Andor! I need a breathe of fresh air since all the mediocrity that came after the first season.

Why do you think the price of Disney + subscription went up in price. Why they had to release the Marvel and Star Wars shows on 4K, to gain more revenue to pay for all this.
That’s another reason why The Mandalorian season 3 was nixed and moved to theaters. They need the money obviously, that’s why in 2025, Disney+ subscribers will pay more again in the fall.
They also had to stop and restart production for both the WGA and SAG strikes as well which also probably led to its budget ballooning so high as well. Still over 291 Mil for one season, and over 645 Mil for two seasons is still way too much money.
I feel like we already knew this. Just season 2 matching season 1’s budget was always going to go this way, and it’s not like we don’t see it on-screen + the fact that the seasons are twice as long as almost all the other shows, if not only in episode count but runtime as well.

I have no problem with a lot of money being spent on Andor. You can see the results. Unlike some of the other shows we’ve been getting.
In the world we live in throwing more money at something does not mean better results.
In the right hands, it makes a difference. And so far, Andor seems to be in the right hands (unlike, say, The Acolyte).
As long as the same people are involved I agree completely.
^ Tuesday 22nd April for the long anticipated season 2 of Andor can’t come soon enough 👍
Anyone undertaking ‘a weekly re-watch’ for season 1 of Andor - to lead-in to the season 2 premiere - should likely start it next week (starting 28th January).

It is always pleasing to see Andor get some props and accolades…

at No 85.: Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Rael, “Andor” (and the only entry for Star Wars in the Top 100)…
‘On this exhilaratingly intelligent — and eerily well-timed — “Star Wars” series about building a revolution against fascism, Skarsgård plays a man fueled by his rage against the Galactic Empire who cannot ever let himself fully express it. Instead, Skarsgård betrays Luthen’s feelings in finely calibrated micro-expressions, as he manages the fragile factions of the nascent rebellion and recruits disillusioned thief Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) to join it. It’s only when one of Luthen’s moles in the Empire demands to know what he has possibly sacrificed that Skarsgård finally takes the lid off. “I’m condemned to use the tools of my enemy to defeat them,” he says, his eyes burning with pain and regret and anger. “I burn my decency for someone else’s future. I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I’ll never see!” It’s a monologue for the ages, proving that the Force is clearly with Skarsgård.’

Andor Season 2 Trailer.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
Episode 9 Rewrite, The Starlight Project (Released!) and ANH Technicolor Project (Released!)
Creator Tony Gilroy weighs in on Season 2 of the series starring Diego Luna amid the journey to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
'The first trailer for Andor Season 2 exploded onto the scene today, with a glimpse at the birth of the Rebel Alliance as we know it. Ahead of the long-awaited season premiere on April 22, 2025, the trailer reunites us with Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), Senator Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly), Bix Caleen (Adria Arjona), Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård), and Syril Karn (Kyle Soller) from the critically-acclaimed and Emmy-nominated first season of the Disney+ series, as well as key characters from the fan-favorite standalone film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, like K-2SO (Alan Tudyk), Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker), and Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn).
Creator and executive producer Tony Gilroy has shared that this season will follow Cassian’s journey in the four years leading up to the events of Rogue One, with the 12 episode story unfolding in four weekly chapters of three episodes each.
While Season 1 followed Cassian’s reluctant journey from cynical nobody to revolutionary volunteer, the long-awaited conclusion in Andor Season 2 will see the characters and their relationships intensify as the horizon of war draws near and Cassian becomes a key player in the Rebel Alliance. Everyone will be tested and, as the stakes rise, the betrayals, sacrifices and conflicting agendas will become profound.
Rife with political intrigue, danger, tension, and high stakes, the thrill is a prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which portrayed a heroic band of rebels who steal the plans to the Empire’s weapon of mass destruction — the Death Star — setting the stage for the events of the original 1977 film, Star Wars: A New Hope. Andor sets the clock back five years from the events of Rogue One to tell the story of the film’s hero, Cassian Andor, and his transformation into a rebel hero on his way to an epic destiny.
The 95 second Season 2 trailer for Andor at the official Star Wars youtube channel: www.youtube.com/watch?v=AE4wxt70aUM
“One of the great thrills of making Andor is the scale of the story and the number of characters we’re able to meet — ordinary people, Imperial overlords, passionate revolutionaries,” Gilroy says. “They are real people making epic decisions, all of them staring down questions with terrifying consequences. Cassian’s journey is the soul and spine of our story, but it’s the choir that makes the show. I’m so excited for audiences to see where we go in Season 2.”
In addition to the trailer — a tense cacophony of blaster fire and explosions punctuated by Eedy Karn’s laughter — new key art hints at Cassian’s transformation into the leader and captain who will succeed in the mission to steal the Death Star plans on Scarif, with a poster that pays homage to the Rogue One campaign.
“Remember this moment,” Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera can be heard intoning at the trailer’s end. “You’re here. You’re right here and you’re ready to fight.”
Andor Season 2 stars Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O’Reilly, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Faye Marsay, Varada Sethu, Elizabeth Dulau, and Alan Tudyk, with Ben Mendelsohn and Forest Whitaker. The series was created by Tony Gilroy, who also serves as an executive producer along with Kathleen Kennedy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Diego Luna, Luke Hull, and John Gilroy.
Tony Gilroy wrote the first three episodes, with Beau Willimon writing episodes 4-6, Dan Gilroy penning episodes 7-9 and Tom Bissell putting pen to paper for episodes 10-12. The directors for the series are Ariel Kleiman (Eps. 1-6), Janus Metz (Eps. 7-9) and Alonso Ruizpalacios (Eps. 10-12).
A clearer image of the addition of ‘A Star Wars Story’ to Andor…

Nice! Wasn’t sure about the music in it: The Revolution Starts Now - by Steve Earle - but is has certainly grown on me… to the point where the Rebellion now has a new theme tune (I guess I was expecting a more Britell-like composition).
