They are very good to watch - entertaining football and tactical awareness. Even when other team plays well there will be goals and chances and excitement. A bit like old football.

Flamengo were good to watch all this season, very attacking play and good in Libertadores too. Very close in the World Club Final and could have scored to win too. I hope they do well again.

Super hyped and ready for football! Really excited for this season as we (Chelsea) signed some great players in Ben Chilwell, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, and Thiago Silva. I think we’re all around looking very promising and upwards with current youngsters like Mason Mount rounding out the lineup. We just need to find a long term solution at Goalkeeper and Centre Back. I’m thinking though Silva will be a stop gap until we go after bringing Declan Rice back to the Bridge next year. Not sure what we’ll do at Goalkeeper long term but hopefully we find something!

Our women’s side also looks even more ready to push for Champion’s League!

As a sidenote I was watching the Amazon football documentary about Leeds called Take Us Home and even as a Chelsea fan who is supposed to hate them can’t help but have some respect and be interested to see how they do in their return to the top flight.

Has anyone else seen any of the documentary?

I haven’t seen the doc on Leeds yet - though the one on Spurs was quite entertaining. The doc on Sunderland was quite an illuminating watch too.

Should be a good season for you guys if it all clicks together - that gk situation could be problematic unless you can get someone in. Do you guys have to sell (Kepa?) before buying - or is there a little still left in the bank?

I’ve not seen the Spurs or Sunderland ones. I’ll have to check them out for sure. There’s some great classic football documentaries on YouTube too. I particularly love this one. There’s a tad bit of bias I’m sure.

There’s still a little in the bank as the signing of Edouard Mendy from France is said to be happening today as he passed his physical yesterday. Petr Cech rates him highly. So hopefully he can bring prose back to our goalkeepering. We desperately needed it. I do feel for Kepa but we should never have played low ball with Alisson.

Albion should bean interesting game for you on Saturday. They’ll likely keep it tight and not come out to play unless on the counter-attack - see how you try and break down a packed defence…
 

That ‘Sunderland Til I Die’ series is well worth checking out (subtitles may be required; sorry any Mackems reading this) - hard to imagine a professional club ran like it was in the documentary - and that the club also allowed it to air. I really hope they do a third series of it.

Yes, for sure. I was hoping Kepa would be the answer but he just doesn’t seem to have the mental make up of a Premier League player. Perhaps he can play in the lower cup rounds to gain confidence though. Suppose time will tell. Haha, thank you! I do think it’ll take awhile but I’m confident that it won’t be too long either. We just need to get healthy and everyone to play together. 😊 Liverpool did good bringing Thiago Alcantar in. I think he’ll be a solid addition in helping you try to repeat.

It should be interesting for sure! Plus Conor Gallagher is on loan at Albion. It should be interesting to see how he does against his future teammates if he plays.

Arsenal should be an interesting game too. It will really show I think if they’re serious about turning the corner (That could be a bad pun too! 😁) or are still the same ole Gooners.

Definitely will have to try watching with subtitles. I really feel for Sunderland fans though. Their fall in such a short amount of time is heartbreaking in a lot of ways. Especially even further when you consider Newcastle may have new ownership soon that looks like they want to compete for Top 6 in the top tier. Ouch! At least they could be getting new ownership too. I hope for their sake it’s someone respectable.

Good to see so many teams in the chase in England as we approach the half-way stage of the league season (c’mon Liverpool!)

Arsenal and Chelsea are probably under-performing this season (so far; Chelsea have the potential and squad to find some form and their rhythm), with Manchester Utd likely over-performing, and Leicester & Southampton having very good seasons to date. Sheffield Utd just can’t get a win - despite some of the entertaining and incisive footy they played last year.
 

A few of the big boys around Europe are not having it all their usual own way - especially with Juventus in Italy, and PSG to some extent in France. Barca are struggling, Real are on a good run yet are prone to dropping unexpected points in Spain, whilst Atletico are managing to dog out results as ever! Bayern are still out in front - yet there are a few teams quite close to them…

Some unpredictable results occurring in general (even in Georgia! 😉) - so hopefully it will make for a more interesting end for a leagues this season, and maybe also have an effect for the European Championships in the summer too (with the unfancied sides / underdogs giving the ‘big’ sides a bloody nose) 👍

Bring on the unpredictability and more upsets!
 

Vindication! Mason Mount was our captain today in our 3-1 win over Luton Town.

Welp! Well this is so fucking stupid and hurtful. I honestly can’t believe Frank has been sacked.

This team needed time and patience to gel together. The board is truly forgetting how young this side is and how there was no pre-season. I really think were close to a breakthrough.

I do appreciate the classy statement from Roman at least but only winning will truly heal the uneasiness I feel.

Not enough time for Lampard there - and hard to see why Chelsea went for Tuchel to replace him… time will tell, I suppose.

Given the money spent on new players at Chelsea of late it’ll be interesting to see if Tuchel has been given immediate funds to to bring in a few of his own players as well - or if he will have to ‘sell to buy’ (in the summer).

How do you think Tuchel will fare, Stardust1138?

I completely agree with you.

It’s hard to say as it all depends on if he’s given enough time to implement his style of play in the squad.

It could be interesting to see what players he’d bring in as I know he wanted Antonio Rudiger and Jorginho at PSG.

I just hope Mason Mount gets a fair chance as he’s by far our best youngster as he showed today coming off the bench.

Best Case Scenario: He builds on what Frank started and wins the league next year. The talent is there. Gets fired after inevitable drama.

Worse Case Scenario: He’s out after eighteen months like Frank but has helped Timo and Kai develop into quality Premier League players. As well as the rest of the squad inches closer to their potential for the next manager.

I also don’t think tonight’s game against Wolves gave us a full picture of what he’ll do yet as I think he was probably testing to see where the problems lay and will hopefully go about correcting them. I’m at least willing to give him a chance as he seems likable but I’m certainly missing Frank. He was always my favourite Chelsea player and having him as manager was like old times.

Hahaha, we are and that’s a great metaphor! I’m starting to like him more. He’ll never be on the levels of Frank for me but I do like him more and more. Winning helps but I think hearing Frank sent him a text the day after the Wolves game really spoke volumes to me. It really helped me to accept what is a little better.

Hope you pull it off! 🙂 Man City will be tough but anything can happen in the Premier League. We play Sheffield next. They’ve always played us tough and despite their record I think Chris Wilder is a great manager and would excel at a bigger club.

Sorry I’m late, matey! Thank you! It was vindicating to see Mason Mount score the winner. Our “fans” seem to be turning a corner on him and realising he’s not Lamps’ son. Haha. Thomas Tuchel has done well so far. Hope he can keep us hungry and humble!

Hope Liverpool can turn it around to finish second. 😛

I have a lot of respect for Jurgen Klopp. He’s such a class act and good man. Can’t imagine all the turmoil he’s under right now.

I must say that Thomas Tuchel has really grown on me considerably. I felt very bittersweet when he was hired as Frank Lampard is my footballing hero and how likeable he is but now I love him wholeheartedly. I’m glad he’s our manager and hope he’s with us for the long term. We’ll have to see though given our track record.
