I didn’t realize that it was your work. Well, I don’t mean to say that it’s without any merit just because I have a shorthand way to quickly inspect one thing, nor that my litmus test is conclusive. I just speak from a place of comfort with an edit I’d seen a few times before and has a few unique things about it that sell it for me over others.

I don’t mean to sound dismissive, just that I am not able to thoroughly check out a Hobbit edit I come across at this point. Like I said, though, it’s the Second best version of that sequence that I have seen, and pulls off such a transition best that I’ve come across. i’m sure it would be worthwhile to check the edit out more thoroughly and meant no insult.

That’s fine, you are under no obligation to check out hobbit edits or mine at all. I know you meant no insult, I just got a little frustrated, sorry. But yeah making the hobbit like the book is an extremely tricky edit to accomplish, I guess it also disappoints me that people like me who missed the hobbit edit hype from 2015~ give or take, and released in the past year, will never really have a chance of getting the same recognition because people stick with edits they know and have had. It’s kind of an ‘eye roll’ at this point when someone releases yet another hobbit edit, despite putting in the same/or more work than the initial wave of edits. I could be wrong though. Anyways, I look forward to your final product of star wars and any future middle earth stuff you do.

I feel ya. Part of me wants to avoid getting sucked into Hobbit fan editing beyond just paring down the Maple Films edit, so I’m reluctant to have to get to know something else unless it wows me in a preliminary way.
BUT, I will check it out further whenever I have spare time. Probably won’t sit through the whole thing, though; I had a hard enough time carving out time to watch Bill and Ted 3!

I have the 1080p MP4s downloaded and they seem great so far! Are these the highest quality versions? If not could I get a link? Thanks!

There are BD25 (mkv) versions also, but I do not have storage space on Google Drive to use to host them. For now they’re available via torrents you can search for. 😕

That took a long-ass time, but the English subtitles are finally complete, and available on the Google Drive. I still just do not have storage space to host the full BD25 versions, sadly, though they are on myspleen.

Hello,

Do you have any news about Kerr’s release ?
your first post was in 2018 😂

Not other than I messaged him a few months ago and he seemed not to be prepping an imminent release, but not having given up altogether. I join you in hastening it as much as wishing can.

I’m a casual viewer of LOTR and watch the extended trilogy as well as maple films The Hobit, is there anything in these edits for me or are they intended more for the die hard book fans? 🤔

This isn’t really a book edit, even though Kerr recognizes when a change that brings it closer to the book also seems to help the film. (And when it doesn’t.)

Even so, he made changes that elegantly heightens things, especially in ROTK. Things I’d never have thought about because the movie is great as-is. I was impressed. All I can suggest is subbing these into your next watch and see what you think.

These sound interesting although like you have pointed out The 1st post assumes that we all know what “Kerrs” edit already is and you have expanded on them…

I dug about in FOTR and found a better way to do the 1st half of the film which is much better structured but I’d be interested in seeing the extended versions as were originally intended.

That means the flash back in The Two Towers of Rivendell goes back to FOTR
Saurman is killed at the end of The Two towers not the start of ROTK

These two things would be the major things I would be looking for. Is it like this in Kerrs edits?

We do finish with Saruman in TTT, but I don’t think the TTT Rivendell scenes between Arwen and Aragorn are there at all. I could be wrong, but I think he removed them.

Ok Cheers for the reply…

Those scenes in the flashback need to be in TFOR to make Aragorns line about “Arwen going to the grey havens” from the gift giving scenes at Loth Lorien make sense.

So it seems you have included the full gift giving scenes but without that scene being present in FOTR it does not make sense even in the extended edition this makes no sense without the Scene placed correctly back before they leave. It’s also why Arwen looks so sad when the fellowship depart.

Just saying I’m not even sure if Arwen Leaving for the Grey havens should be in ROTK but in TTT instead.

I see what you mean. Not sure it’s an out-and-out continuity problem, but it makes sense to include or exclude together. In the event that I revisit LOTR I will keep this in mind.

PM me if you are interested in talking about FOTR as it’s honestly the only film I really studied so far. I think you will find some things I can pass over quite interesting.

Hi, does anyone have a link for these versions? They sound quite perfect in content!
