Thank you, thank you, thank you. Oh, and who or what were the Whills?

Hi folks,

I’ve just joined up. A friend told me about this project and I was so excited. He had a 4k Download and we watched it in his home cinema. Oh, my giddy aunt. I felt like I was 6yrs old again (no prizes for guessing how old I am, then.) It was a very special experience to to re-live Star Wars in the same way I did when I first saw it: the unaltered cut, the film grain, the natural unboosted colouring. Fantastic.

I do have a question, though: has anybody seen the first cut that was screened to Brian de Palma and Spielberg, the cut that was so bad George had to almost go back to the drawing board?

Two questions! And who were the Whills?

In regards to the Whills…

'George Lucas explained that he intended the Whills to be microbiotic beings who fed off the Force and controlled the entire universe. They were capable of creating certain destinies for people, such as the Chosen One prophecy. In Lucas’s view, all living things were only vessels for the Whills to travel around in, and the midi-chlorians (first introduced in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace) served as a conduit. “The Whills, in a general sense, they are the Force,” Lucas is quoted as saying.

Lucas claims that, had he held onto Lucasfilm Ltd. instead of selling it to The Walt Disney Company in 2012, the sequel trilogy would have featured the microbiotic world of the Whills.’

Though for Rogue One… as in the ‘Guardians Of The Whills’:-

Everything We Know About the Whills in Star Wars’:-

The FE Renegades thread; from the people who post ‘go kill yourself’, ‘fuck you’, ‘let’s throw abuse’, and more at OT staff & members. Four years on and still throwing accusations, slurs and abuse at the OT & anyone outside their Salacious Crumb filled clique. + FE Discord “to vent” more at the OT. Wook’s take.

C-3PO and R2-D2 are telling the story that we see in the movies to the Whills. The opening crawls are parts of the contents of the Journal of the Whills. We also know that the Whills taught Qui-Gon Jinn how to become a Force Ghost.

Early on in the development of Star Wars, the Whills were to be the only ones who could use The Force and they would give advice to the characters.

I don’t even think George knew was a Whill was. He was going to tell us in his sequels. Now those are never going to happen, those Midichlorian Star Wars sequels he wanted to do.

There was this whole deleted sequence in the prequels where the Whills helped the Jedi preserve themselves in the force. From what i read Liam turned down episode III and that was never shot. Something to do with Yoda and Obi Wan learning how to not only preserve their identity in the force like Qui Gon as a disembodied voice, but to physically manifest themselves.
