Harrison Ford does it even more blatantly while Leia is saying “Captain, being held by you isn’t quite enough to get me excited” in TESB.

Yes I know…did you finish watching the video? Or are you being sarcastic?

The original cantina bartender voice also makes me laugh.

“OI! We don’t serve their koind 'ea!”

“What?”

“Ya droids, they’ll have to wait oit-side, they don’t wantem 'ea.”

I love how genuinely confused and bewildered Luke sounds when he responds to him, it’s like he’s never seen an australian in his entire life.

I’m just annoyed they couldn’t find a woman VA to dub the female pilot in ROTJ. Also, what changed to allow Dennis Lawson to use his own voice in ROTJ as well?

Slightly off-thread, but I love the footage (Empire of Dreams?) where someone’s reading Yoda’s lines in a British accent to Luke when he’s about to take off for Bespin - “if you choose the quick and easy path you will find it’s all a big load of bollocks…” (I’m exaggerating for effect of course!)

took me a few years to notice this one and just remembered it while watching Star Wars 77 tonight …right after Kenobi is cut down by Vader and Luke starts shooting , a stormtrooper has his shoulder armor start to fall off, he ducks behind his comrade and then tries to quickly move out of frame to the left but does not quite make it 😃

Talking about Mace Windu on Geonosis: In the scene when he goes straight to the balcony where Dooku and Fett are standing on, there always seemed to be something off with Windu in the shot where we see him from behind. Maybe my eyes are tricking me, but I just noticed recently that Windu may seem to be CGI. It’s just the way he looks and moves.

Something I just noticed (two decades later) about the prequels - no Gamorrean Guards. It would have been good to see some with Jabba, during the pod race.

Weird, Jabba didn’t have them in the Clone Wars movie either. Don’t know if any Hutts had them around in the series.

It seems like Lucas overdubbed basically anybody who was British (except Alec Guinness) in the first film. Though somehow General Tagge survived. Maybe because his working-class East End voice didn’t sound like a stereotypical upper-class Brit.

Probably it was Irvin Kershner on ESB who decided to let the Imperials use their natural British accents, for the American Revolution symbolism. Lucas, by contrast, thought of the Empire as more like modern-day America, so most likely he wasn’t the one who came up with that.

I went to a Transformers convention earlier this year and met Michael Bell (I also almost adopted a cat he was trying to get rid of, but that’s another story), which is where I learned that he was the voice of the rebel that greets Leia when she arrives at the Yavin base. So that’s how I discovered about that small detail.

It probably happens too fast to be noticed at normal speed, but Luke has a pretty good grip on his saber.

And now I have the mental image of his hand grasping the hilt long after it falls.

Don’t forget that it was almost canonized in TFA that that hand would still be grasping the saber thirty years later (and that it also made its way into space somehow).

When the hand dies, the tendons in the fingers can grip very hard and stay that way.
So, yeah. Luke’s hand probably held onto that thing as it burned in the garbage or rotted away or whatever happened.

That would have made for a way better opening imo, although I can see why they wanted to shy away from having a 30-year-old rotting hand be literally the first thing you see in the film. Maybe they didn’t want to set the bar too high.

Well, it certainly would have been a memorable SW moment, even if it doesn’t really make much sense.

However, I do wish they had stuck with this opening concept that was even storyboarded.

This one’s great too, although it’s a bit too reminiscent of ANH for my taste. Maybe it’s just me but I think the “stardestroyer flying over the camera” concept has been somewhat overused. It worked perfectly in ANH but certainly the following films could have used something more original.

So did anyone ever explain how Luke’s saber was supposed to have wound up in space in that version of the TFA opening?

I believe at some point in development there was a flashback montage that tracked the saber’s journey.
