Okay so ignore the bickering on this page https://movies.stackexchange.com/questions/15120/darth-vader-with-his-mask-off-was-that-david-prowse
But what is that picture of Dave Prowse really from, is it really the ESB chamber scene?
Luke.
With all the worry over the initial Falcon design being too similar to the Space 1999 Eagle, I shouldn’t be so surprised to learn Lucas actually visited the studio during production of the series.

Too bad there isn’t a photo of him on Moonbase Alpha.
Where were you in '77?
I discovered a small interesting anecdote, while i was browsing around another website. I don’t know if the story really happened that way, so take it with a grain of salt:
[…] Years ago, when I was up North at the Lucas Ranch, getting approval on a bunch of toy sculpture prototypes, I was invited to a party that night. I was staying the night anyway and flying back the next day, so I went… At this party, I met some of the designers and concept artists that worked on the prequels. One of them (who shall remain nameless), whom I’d met before actually, told me that Spielberg had come up to visit George while they were in pre-production on Episode 1. He continued to say that while there, he overheard a conversation between Lucas and Spielberg in which Lucas was trying to convince Spielberg to re-do all of the shark sequences in “Jaws” with a CG shark, then re-release the film…[…]
Rogue One is redundant. Just play the first mission of DARK FORCES.

That may have been less Lucas “trying to convince” Spielberg to re-do Jaws and more of him idly musing about that being a possibility with the advances in CGI that were happening. That anecdote is third-hand, after all.
“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”

True, it is a third hand anecdote. But after all, we all know what happened in 2002 with “some other” Spielberg movie…
So maybe there is a small amount of truth in that story 😉

I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.
I LOL’d at the Praxis-wave explosion.
“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”
Even though it was Jaws, they were clearly zinging Lucas.

Was watching this behind the scenes video with ILM model makers talking about the original designs for some of the ships compared to the final. I haven’t seen Solo and maybe they’ve done something clever as throwback to this before but was very intrigued by the idea brought up of the falcon having a rotating cockpit. Then I wondered with some stabilization or roto work can this simulated?

Man, I wouldn’t even know where to begin to find it now, but I remember a detailed post on some message board about the guy who played Vader in that back-of-the-head shot for ESB. I don’t remember who it was, but it wasn’t Prowse (according to that post). No idea what that photo you linked is.
Doesn’t someone have the Rinzler book handy to check?

According to this thread - https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Actor-of-Darth-Vaders-bald-head-in-ESB/id/16462
it is Prowse; unfortunately the picture is apparently only in the e-book version of Rinzler’s Making Of ESB book (I’ve had a look through the physical book version and can’t find it).
Our good friend Jambe Davdar says it is from e-book version too - and that it is Prowse…

Fascinating! I stand corrected!
Awesome, thanks everyone
Anyone have any clue why the 4K release of Solo only has HDR10 after TLJ had DolbyVision? Do we think that’s an indication that the powers that be are likely to abandon DolbyVision for future releases?
I’m watching As You Like It with Helen Mirren (it’s a long story) and what do you know Dave Prowse is actually in this as the wrestler in the opening. A genuine random SW moment.
Prowse turns up in all sorts of roles in the 1970’s.

Oh sure. A Clockwork Orange, Vampire Circus. And 2 Frankenstein creations for Hammer. But I just wasn’t expecting him today just after I made the post above.
Lucas should have given Obi-wan a robot leg in the ANH Special Edition in 1997 so that people would have speculated endlessly over the next 8 years about when during the prequels he lost it, then never have him sustain this injury, making it clear that it just happened sometime later and had no bearing on the plot.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
Episode 9 Rewrite, The Starlight Project (Released!) and ANH Technicolor Project (Released!)

And he could have made it C-3PO’s missing gold right leg.
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.

Well see now that’s almost interesting, so it would have never happened.

What, you don’t think this added interest and intrigue to Star Wars?

Ben Kenobi did have a robotic right hand in the 1975 third draft, so this is more plausible than it sounds on the face of it.
