The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant (Released) — Page 654

I believe it is a deliberate effect on the part of the filmmakers, imitating the flicker of the practical/optical effects used in the OT. You can see the sabers flicker in this way across the ST.

its not really flickering i mean tbf, i mean the green color shade switches. lukes lightsaber in the trainig flashback is more blue-ish before he pulls his mask up and then it cross fades into a different shade of green when he looks at leia. give it a good look. its a bit hard to see but once you see it, its quite un-see-able (if thats a word ha)

I’ve heard about this edit for awhile, and I’ve finally found the time to check it out. When you have time, I would love a link to it!

Also, I still don’t see anything funny about Luke’s saber in that scene. To make sure, do you see the same thing in the original TROS?

no, the original TROS has the right shade of green the entire time. we only see the right shade of green fade in when luke pulls his mask up in the flashback. i cant unsee it. im 100% sure the green shade has been altered while altering leias saber.

https://youtu.be/hXVPX9zZy2M here is a comparison video i made of your edit and the original

at 00.15 you can see the blueish green into proper green

I gotta say, I don’t see a change at all. There is a slight difference in color between the two versions due to the different overall color grade, but as for the consistency throughout the scene, it looks fine.

The only oddities I noticed in the scene were how the purple saber tended to bleed into and overwhelm the green saber when the two blades intersected, whereas in the original the green color was more present. It’s not a huge problem, but it is a bit noticeable in some shots.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

V3 is out! Due to an unfortunate issue with the Google Drive that is provided to me to use by Hondo’s Trove, I cannot yet upload it there. This should become possible within a week. For the present, torrents have been released out into the wild.

Happy to see the site back on! I skimmed through V3 and especially the first act with all the additions made the film flow much smoother. I’t insane how improved this movie has slowly managed to get with the efforts of this community. Truly awesome.

Planning on watching TLJ Rekindled and v3 back to back this weekend. Excited for this since I haven’t seen this movie in its entirety since v1 of this project. I went ahead and skimmed through some of the audio changes, and you did a fantastic job integrating them! I’m confident if I were a first time viewer (who I’ll be watching it with this weekend) I wouldn’t be able to tell the changes.

Sorry for the double post, but I did find a minor error at 1:20:20. As Rey reaches out to heal Ben, you can also hear her pick up her lightsaber and start walking away. This is likely because of the switcheroo that you did to this scene.

On a further note, if you do feel like fixing that, there was the Leia line of her saying “Come home” to Ben when she’s holding Han’s medal. I don’t remember if you ever shot down that idea, tbh.

I had decided against using that line, that’s right.

But you’re right, you did spot a little audio error there! I’ll fix it for the eventual Rey Nobody version and have it corrected for any hypothetical future update. But I don’t plan to update and reissue just for that.

Hope you enjoy the double feature and I look forward to hearing how it strikes you!

Is this as good as it’s gonna get? 😄

As fun as it has been to work on fan edits of the main Star Wars saga, for my own mental health I need to bring it to a soft close. I need to set them down, regard them as finalized, and not take them up again. It’s been meaningful to create and update these projects in the context of this community, and I am grateful for the various forms of help in getting this series of fan edits into the shape they’re in. I feel that these projects deserve the dignity of taking a final form and being complete. I’m not closing the door on future, new projects. But I need to mentally let go of the edits of the saga so far.

So here is where I am:

Prequel trilogy - I have one more future update to Episode I, once TMWNN finishes his FX work. Other than this, I am finished with the prequel trilogy. I don’t care what cool ideas, possibilities, or plot contradictions with new material come up in the future. Making a firm commitment not to revise these further.

Original trilogy - I have one more future update to ANH planned, also when TMWNN finishes his work on it. I am happy with how ESB and ROTJ are, but I leave the door open to updating them later in the event that new primary source material comes about. (This includes work to meticulously fix up the 2019 SE like TMWNN is currently doing for ANH.)

Sequel trilogy - I need to update the ‘Rey Nobody’ version of TROS:A, once DominicCobb finishes his work on it. I’m also prepping an update to TLJ to fix a couple minor glitches and take advantage of a LUT from skenera. But, other than this I would like to firmly set these down as final. Each of them feel complete by this point, fulfilling the original scope of their missions. (I will make available the raw clips of Leia’s original blue lightsaber so it is available in the event someone wants to have this comport with future material, though I don’t plan to release it as a complete alternate version.)

Rogue One - I’ll probably do a little update after season 2 of Andor to address anything at that point, and otherwise leave it be.

These are my conditions to break glass and revive any of these projects, outside of completing updates to COD, ANH, and TROS (Rey Nobody).

EDIT: I forgot about an imminent update to ESB, lol.
