Mod Edit: Do NOT use this thread to discuss events in episodes from The Mandalorian - thank you.

Please use the The Mandalorian - a general discussion - * SPOILERS THREAD* instead.

(A lot of European countries and various other countries around the world will not have Disney+ until early 2020 - and so will not be able to watch The Mandalorian until then. So no spoilers from Season 1 in this thread - thanks.)

The title and a brief synopsis has just been announced on Jon Favreau’s Instagram…

DONATIONS TOWARDS MATERIALS FOR THE REVISITED SAGA

I’m willing to bet the huge reveal at the end of the first season will be that Boba Fett is still alive. Anyway, the “lone gunfighter” angle certainly makes me feel better about the idea of a Mando-centric series. I found Filoni’s Mandalorians so, so tiresome. Hopefully this series just has the one bouncing off of more interesting characters, rather than a bunch of them yammering on about honor and family ad infinitum.

Well it mentions the New Republic in this description, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we did learn little things about it or even encountered them occasionally in the show.

So it still won’t explain anything about the New Republic. Cool. I’m not mad. Why would you think that?

Were…you hoping for a series set in the New Republic Senate?

I’m very much down for this. Little surprised that it seems to be honed in on a single character rather than an ensemble, which I assumed would be the case. I feel like that makes me more interested, but who knows, we’ll see.

Very Interesting.

Nice idea. Good thing to explore the post-ROTJ era. Only bad idea: Jon Favreau is involved 😕

Seems like cinematographer Greig Fraser may well be involved too…

Looking forward to watching this 😃

I was hoping something else than again more Mandalorians, it seems to be the go-to safe bet. But I hope the execution works. The story sounds interesting but it could have been anything else than “hey, remember the Fetts?”.

And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.

It’s not at all surprising given Favreau’s connection to the Mandalorians. If they do this right, a lone gunman series could be fantastic.

Why is Favreau’s involvement a bad idea? So far I’ve liked the stuff he’s done.

On a related note I’ve noticed many have expressed their dislike for the Mandalorians over several threads, and the reason given is that it’s because they are a warrior culture and warrior cultures in fiction are boring. How are warrior cultures boring? They’re usually amongst the coolest things that pop up in fiction. I just don’t understand why people are so unenthusiastic about them.

Though I’m sure there’re exceptions, most tend to be rather one-note. They become tiresome after awhile.

He’s done far more good than bad.
