I know this is impossible, but I’ve always loved that deleted sandstorm scene after they blow up Jabbas barge. Luke and Han have a very tender and heartfelt parting.
I would have loved to see this scene included in a ROTJ with a slightly darker tone. I’m sure Lucas cut it because it didn’t fit with his happy-go-lucky vision for Jedi.
Ady said no to this scene due to the poor quality. If some super ambitious person wanted to tackle that for their own fan edit … that would be impressive.

Well, that killed the conversation pretty well.
So, any thoughts on sounds that need fixing in ROTJ? Someone’s already mentioned Artoo’s beeps sounding very different from the other films.
I nominate the plank on the skiff that Luke springs from. It sounds like a cartoon effect rather than a heavy board (Ben Burtt confessed in the commentary he did it by flicking a ruler on the end of a table).
Any other bad effects stood out for anyone?

Even though it’s Ady’s edit and likely has his own remove / restore list already on such things, I think it would be fun to make and maintain our own unofficial list of just those really awful parts that GL added or changed in his SEs onwards or even the few that were always there in the theatrical release. I’ll start:
- All of George’s weird, wacky and ridiculous (sorry Frink 😛 ) changes from the SEs onwards.
Done.
He he, but seriously I think it would be great to see the below removed or restored to original in Ady’s edit:
- Jabba’s massively oversized and out of proportion front door (restore to original door)
- Jedi Rocks music, scene and new characters made just for this scene (remove or restore to original scene)
- Salacious B. Crumb / Jabba’s pet (remove or replace with new CGI / better puppet)
- Sarlacc beak and extra tentacles (remove or restore entire Sarlacc to original)
- Han’s line “It’s alright, I can see much better” (restore to original)
- Any overly silly Ewok scenes (remove)
- Chewie’s tarzan yell (remove)
- Vader’s “No” and “NOOooooo” (remove)
- Vader’s eyebrows (restore)
- Hayden’s force ghost head (restore to original)
That’s a start for the obvious ones, I’m sure other people know more that aren’t as major or obvious but are still real single eyebrow raisers.

I’ll actually throw my hat in the “keep the eyebrow removal” ring. It makes more sense given how Anakin ended up in the suit for him to be eyebrow-less.
Though Rebels did depict him with eyebrows, so…

If it’s only there as a tie back to events in the PT then I am completely against it and would rather just see what was always there until GL changed it. IMHO, OT came many years before the PT, therefore the OT should have been the movie to stay the same while the PT needed to mould itself to fit with the long established originals, rather than shoehorning in such changes as removing Shaw’s bloody eyebrows LOL!

I agree with you from a purist standpoint, but this isn’t a purist edit, as Ady’s work on ANH (battle droid in the sandcrawler, ROTS music in the duel) and ESB (modified 2004 Emperor) has proven.

I could go either way with the eyebrows. Removing the eyebrows makes more sense since Ady has included the PT lore in the edits as Ash brought out. From that stand point, he was burned with lava. Looking at Vader’s bald head shows the damage removed all his hair. Eyebrows are hair. So to me it would make sense for the removal.
However, I would not really care that much if the eyebrows stay. Not as important compared to the list your provide Valheru … I agree with pretty much all of it. 😃

Yep, pretty much this. The lava has been part of the story since the ROTJ novelization in 1983 anyway.

I don’t particularly care one way or another about the eyebrows, since if he really fell into lava he’d be dead before he hit the surface:

Maybe it’s the head shape. I already suggested to Adywan to make the head less egg-shaped, and he said he will try to do something about it.

Honestly I think he looks a whole lot sillier with the eyebrows.
