The Force Awakens: Official Review Thread - ** SPOILERS ** — Page 158

Yep, seeing a film in theaters 6 times obviously translates to “I don’t care for it.” Everyone knows that.

Author

I drank a beer in the theater during it…so what does that mean?

Author

Well I mean you say that but I’ve never seen you and the owner in the same room together.

We have a local movie theatre that’s essentially an old town hall with random old couches and lounge chairs spaced out pretty genorously in lines that you just grab a blanket and lounge in with a few beers and ice creams while getting a pretty decent movie experience via a theatre size screen and a large professional hi-fi audio system.

We’ve got a proper cinema as well but the other one is a nice change from the usual popcorn and soft drink in your stiff single fold down seat wherever you can find one if you’re not early enough.

Edit: Oh yeah, I saw TFA once in the cinema and once at home on Bluray. Only seen RO once in the cinema so far. I generally liked both movies though 😛

TFA - Watched it once in the theater and once more on a DVD I checked out from the library (and I don’t really feel the need to ever watch it again)
RO - Watched it once in the theater and probably four or five more times on DVD/Netflix (and I plan to watch it on a regular basis in the future)

Star Wars - Watched it once at a drive-in theater and about thirty times on VHS/DVD/TV
ESB - Watched it once on laser disc and about thirty times on VHS/DVD/TV
ROTJ - Watched it once at the theater and about thirty times on VHS/DVD/TV

Star Wars (special edition) - Watched it once at the theater
ESB (special edition) - Watched it once at the theater
ROTJ (special edition) - Watched it once at the theater

TPM - Watched it twice at the theater (the second time was right after I saw The Matrix at the theater with my fiancée and my sister and then we all just walked into the Phantom Menace (since my sister had not yet seen it)) and two or three times on DVD/TV
AOTC - Watched it once in the theater and once on DVD
ROTS - Watched it once in the theater and once on DVD

I watched Spaceballs somewhere around 20-30 times when I was ten years old. Not sure if I’ve seen it since.

Well, I know I’m certainly in the right thread. People were posting how many times they had watched TFA, so I followed suit (and then I also posted the amount of times that I had watched the other Star Wars movies to provide context).

So, I guess that just leaves you (but it’s OK, I don’t mind a few extraneous postings).

Sounds a cool and relaxing setup you have there mate - I’m a little envious.

Lads, Dirge has just given his TFA rating in the context of comparing it with how many times he’s seen the other Star Wars films - and that has been posted recently in the thread too.

It seems likely that the more occasions you’re willing to watch something… the more you enjoy or get from it, which seems a reasonable premise.

I strongly suggest a more open-minded and welcoming approach to fellow members’ posts. Though to be honest - and for clarity - we’re fed up of seeing fellow members’ posts denigrated or being judged in this all-to-familiar manner.

This stops - it will no longer be tolerated - the next time the mods see something like this warnings or temp-bans will be issued.

If you think I’m being harsh or overstepping the mark consider this - if Dirge hadn’t already replied - I’d have deleted your posts and issued official warnings.

I don’t think Frink was personally calling out or “denigrating” Dirge, I think he simply meant to imply that the whole conversation was drifting a bit and would be better suited to a different thread about how many times we’ve seen Star Wars (I believe there are a number of these).

As for my post, was just a joke, not at anyone’s expense in particular. Or maybe my post wasn’t an issue? You were sort of vague in terms of who you were calling out. (Hard to learn from my mistakes if I’m not sure if I made any, I honestly don’t see anything here deserving of reprimand but maybe that’s just me.)

Anyway, back to “topic” I suppose… I saw TFA five times in the theater (an unusually high number for me), and probably something like 3-4 times on Blu-ray/digital, and a lot more times on TV. Guess that means I liked it.

Agreed…which is why the post that kicked this whole thing off made no sense to most of us.

I’ve seen the force awakens about 8 times, 6 at the theater and 2 at home on the ol’ Blu-ray. I haven’t seen it in quite a while nor do I really care to.

Sorry DominicCobb - this post wasn’t aimed at you - though is a ‘heads-up’ of sorts to everyone that this sort of behaviour will no longer be tolerated.

The full sentence is however… ‘Though to be honest - and for clarity - we’re fed up of seeing fellow members’ posts denigrated or being judged in this all-to-familiar manner’.

I appreciate the general sentiment, I do think we’re often too hard on members sometimes - I was just confused in this instance, thanks for clearing up.

I loved The Force Awakens when it first came out and I really wish that I can undo that love. That flick is a tired rehash that gets more and more boring and redundant on repeat viewings whereas Rogue One keeps getting better with repeat viewings. It’s as simple as that.
