Iconic voiceover artist June Foray, just shy of her 100th birthday, passed today.

Rest in Peace to the woman behind Rocky the Flying Squirrel, Witch Hazel, Granny, and so many other iconic voices. What a career she had. I would have loved to shake her hand and thank her for the years of endless entertainment.

Oops. I know I checked the thread to make sure I wasn’t a repeat, but I guess not well enough.
My point stands though nowhere near as well articulated as FF.

No one mentioned Chester Bennington of Linkin Park? I can’t say I’ve ever heard one of their songs, but it’s sad news.

Today I lost a friend and extended family member, the multi-talented June Foray past away at 99 years old. My uncle was with her and said that she was at peace when her spirit left her body.

June was best known as the voice of such animated characters as Rocky the Flying Squirrel, Lucifer from Disney’s Cinderella, Cindy Lou Who, Jokey Smurf, Granny from the Warner Bros. cartoons directed by Friz Freleng, Grammi Gummi from Disney’s Adventures of the Gummi Bears series, and Magica De Spell, among many others. Her career has encompassed radio, theatrical shorts, feature films, television, record albums (particularly with Stan Freberg), video games, talking toys, and other media. Foray was also one of the early members of ASIFA-Hollywood, the society devoted to promoting and encouraging animation. She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame honoring her voice work in television.

This all saddens me, but I pray they’ve gone on to their next lives. Godspeed to them all.

I’ve always loved ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE. The voice of Rocky really made that show.

RIP

Watched a lot of Rocky and Bullwinkle as a kid, but June will always first and foremost be remembered by me as Talky Tina, the original doll from hell in the Twilight Zone.

Nobody mentioned Jeanne Moreau the other day so I thought I’d better drop her in. 89 is a ripe old age though.

Also, Robert Hardy has passed away aged 91. Those of you in the U.S. might recognise him from Harry Potter but he’ll always be Siegfried Farnon to me. A legend, who simply couldn’t have been any more British if he tried!

I hope both are resting in peace.

I’m an American and he’ll always be Siegfried to me too! Love that series. RIP.

This is a weird one for me. I admittedly haven’t listened to very much of his music, but I know enough songs to know he was good. Anyway, his old hometown is pretty close to mine. I feel his loss in more of a sentimental, geographic sense. It’s if I’ve lost a neighbor who I didn’t visit enough.

Well, at least that makes sense in my head, if nowhere else.

^ damn. First I’m hearing of this. He made a big handful of movies that I love.
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a beautiful masterpiece. As known as it is (mostly from reputation instead of actual views), it’s criminally underrated. The direction is perfect and the cinematography is, again, beautiful.

This. Shame it took me nearly a decade to realize it, though.
