Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) on Wednesday said reports that President Trump pressed ousted FBI Director James Comey to end an investigation would merit impeachment if true, becoming the first Republican lawmaker to broach the idea.

The New York Times on Tuesday reported that Trump tried to pressure Comey to stop investigating former national security adviser Michael Flynn, citing a memo written by Comey.

Asked by The Hill if the details in the memo would merit impeachment if they’re true, Amash replied: “Yes.”

“But everybody gets a fair trial in this country,” Amash added as he left a House GOP conference meeting.

Asked by another reporter whether he trusted Comey’s word or Trump’s, Amash said: “I think it’s pretty clear I have more confidence in Director Comey.”

Republicans beginning to turn (or at least voicing their concerns)?

This is the issue with the two party system. It forces every individual to choose a side when in reality, each of us has our own set of complex ideals, opinions, and morals. We should treat someone as an individual rather than a Democrat or a Republican.

Completely agree mate.

On a slight tangent, those in power have eroded the power of our vote over the years - in many places around the world. A PR (proportional representation) voting system would sure give each and every voter a more democratic say on who, we the public, elect - and ensure politicians have to campaign for everyone, everywhere - and not just doing it in, and spending money on, ‘swing states’ or ‘heartland areas’.

A ‘third way’ (and 4th, 5th, 6th etc 😃) alternative would likely pop up and have the possibility of each being more prominent - and although the two main parties may not like it - and would likely resist it - it is a more democratic, a fairer, and a system that would likely encourage and appeal to more of the public than the two-party systems in place we have now^.

^ not that PR is an ideal or perfect system - any system will have it’s flaws.

Rogue One: The Battle of Scarif fan edit (Released)

It seems some of you don’t get the point of this edit… Have you read the first post ? If you love the theatrical cut I don’t understand why you would want to watch an edit of it. The Cassian character is a catastrophe, glad he’s been radically cut down here. All his lines and especially his speech are so boring and embarrassing…

I found the point of the Edit just fine, thanks - and thought it to be an intriguing concept.

I’m looking forward to watching the Adywan Edit of Empire - it doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy the theatrical version of Empire, does it?

Or if one day we get a fan edit of Rogue One with some deleted/cut/pre-reshoot scenes in it - it doesn’t necessarily detract from the theatrical version - it’d just different. Maybe better, maybe worse, maybe similar - though that’s up to the viewer, no?

Your ‘Cassian character is a catastrophe’ opinion is just that - your opinion, not fact, and we all have our own opinions - some of us are without the need to endlessly repeat them though…

I look forward to watching some future Edits from eldusto84, and thanks to his post and previous Edits got to see the really enjoyable version of The Hobbit. Nice one eldusto84 - keep up the great work 😃

The good news about this whole Mensch/Taylor thing is that either they found something huge or we’ll never hear any more predictions from them again. Their entire credibility is riding on this call.

What/who?

I think Tyrphanax may be referring to this news (apologies if incorrect):-

I don’t think Louise Mensch has much credibility to begin with mate - though on this occasion, I hope she is proven correct.

(and I’d still like to not hear from her again either way 😉)

Rogue One: The Battle of Scarif fan edit (Released)
Time

I think Vladius’ post above has pretty well summed up my feelings on the Edit too.

Whilst admiring the time, effort and commitment gone into the project - with some quality technical work too - I felt that the characterisations and backstory of the main cast withdrew from enjoying the Edit or feeling for their sacrifice for the cause. I actually think Cassian’s speech on Yavin IV may have been better left in - as it gives back the ‘grey’ of the Rebellion, that these people had led their lives for the Rebellion (or against the Empire), had committed the type of crimes that made them lose their humanity - but did so for a greater good etc; it gave us the viewer something to get behind emotionally and root for (in addition of the good guy vs bad guy aspect).

Though, I too liked the subtle changes to Jyn’s lines - making her more of the leader of the group.

And the Crawl was great too - very professional, like most of the Edit itself 😃

Great work.

Amazingly enough, it wasn’t any of those. It was this one:

http://www.espn.com/30for30/film?page=hillsborough

I thought it was excellent, although I was completely unfamiliar with it before this, so I can’t speak to its accuracy.

I think that’s the top one listed mate (I should have labelled it clearer) - by Dan Gordon for ESPN’s 30 for 30.

Oh, I clicked on the link and saw this in the title: “Hillsborough (2016) | BBC Documentary HD” So I thought it was a different one.

Love 30 for 30. I watch every single one.

I think some people do that to try and get around the ESPN/youtube copyright overlords/takedowners 😉 (or may have seen it just on the BBC here in the UK, and not aware it was also for the ESPN 30 for 30 series)

Hope they carry on doing the 30 for 30 series - despite being so many 24/7 sports channels available these days it’s quite rare to see quality documentaries like this one.

Star Wars 40th Reunion

George needs to check his ego at the door if that’s true. He could at least follow the philosophy of the very characters he created, and let go of his hate for one night.

This is a once in a lifetime event. It should be about celebrating the people who helped make Star Wars, all of them.

How many of these people will even still be around for the 50th?

I can’t believe David Prowse wasn’t at the 40th Anniversary Panel at Star Wars Celebration. George doesn’t care about anything but his own interpretations of things. He has rewritten history in his mind and that is his reality. I feel sorry for him. I wish he could be more like Stan Lee and enjoying this great time instead of making things awkward with his delusions.

The 40th anniversary was a great opportunity to bury the hatchet and move on bringing David Prowse back into ‘the fold’ as it were, especially as Star Wars has lost a few of it’s actors of late. Instead no, as you say - George has his re-written history and doesn’t like to be challenged or reminded of his past mistakes.

Hopefully David Prowse will turn up to this reunion instead 😃
